Salmi 52

1 Maschil di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici; intorno a ciò che Doeg Idumeo era venuto a rapportare a Saulle che Davide era entrato in casa di Ahimelec O POSSENTE [uomo], perchè ti glorii del male? La benignità del Signore [dura] sempre.

For the leader. A maskil of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul that David had gone to Abimelech’s house. Why glory in mischief, you hero? God’s kindness is all the day.

2 La tua lingua divisa malizie; [Ella è] come un rasoio affilato, [o tu], operatore d'inganni.

Engulfing ruin you plot, your tongue like a razor sharpened, you practiser of deceit.

3 Tu hai amato il male più che il bene; La menzogna più che il parlare dirittamente.

Evil, not good, you love, and falsehood, not words of truth. (Selah)

4 Tu hai amate tutte le parole di ruina, O lingua frodolente.

But you love all words that devour, and a tongue that is given to deceit.

5 Iddio altresì ti distruggerà in eterno; Egli ti atterrerà, e ti divellerà dal [tuo] tabernacolo, E ti diradicherà dalla terra de' viventi. (Sela)

But God, on his part, shall destroy you forever, grasp you and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. (Selah)

6 E i giusti lo vedranno, e temeranno; E si rideranno di lui, [dicendo: ]

Smitten with awe at the sight, the righteous shall laugh at you.

7 Ecco l'uomo [che] non aveva posto Iddio [per] sua fortezza; Anzi si confidava nella grandezza delle sue ricchezze, E si fortificava nella sua malizia.

“Look” (they will say) “at the hero who did not make God his stronghold, but trusted in his great wealth and in the strength of his riches.”

8 Ma io [sarò] come un ulivo verdeggiante nella Casa di Dio; Io mi confido nella benignità di Dio in sempiterno.

But I am like a fresh olive-tree in the house of God. I trust in the kindness of God for ever and evermore.

9 [O Signore], io ti celebrerò in eterno; perciocchè tu avrai operato; E spererò nel tuo Nome, perciocchè [è] buono, [Ed è] presente a' tuoi santi.

I will render you thanks for ever for what you have done. I will tell how good you are in the presence of those who love you.
