Salmi 18
1 [Salmo] di Davide, servitor del Signore, il qual pronunziò le parole di questo cantico al Signore, nel giorno che il Signore l'ebbe riscosso dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici, e dalla mano di Saulle; [dato] al Capo de' Musici. Egli adunque disse: O SIGNORE, mia forza, io ti amerò affettuosamente.
TO THE OVERSEER. BY A SERVANT OF YHWH, BY DAVID, WHO HAS SPOKEN TO YHWH THE WORDS OF THIS SONG IN THE DAY YHWH DELIVERED HIM FROM THE HAND OF ALL HIS ENEMIES, AND FROM THE HAND OF SAUL, AND HE SAYS: I love You, O YHWH, my strength.
2 Il Signore [è] la mia rocca, e la mia fortezza, e il mio liberatore, Il mio Dio, la mia rupe; io spererò in lui; Il mio scudo, e il corno della mia salute, il mio alto ricetto.
YHWH [is] my rock, and my bulwark, And my deliverer, My God [is] my rock, I trust in Him: My shield, and the horn of my salvation, My high tower.
3 Io invocai il Signore, a cui si deve ogni lode; E fui salvato da' miei nemici.
I call on YHWH, the Praised One, And I am saved from my enemies.
4 Doglie di morte mi avevano circondato, E torrenti di scellerati mi avevano spaventato.
Cords of death have surrounded me, And streams of the worthless make me afraid.
Cords of Sheol have surrounded me, Snares of death have been before me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Nella mia distretta io invocai il Signore, E gridai all'Iddio mio; [Ed] egli udì la mia voce dal suo Tempio, E il mio grido pervenne davanti a lui a' suoi orecchi.
In my adversity I call YHWH, And I cry to my God. He hears my voice from His temple, And My cry comes into His ears before Him.
7 Allora la terra fu scossa, e tremò; E i fondamenti de' monti furono smossi E scrollati; perciocchè egli era acceso nell'ira.
And the earth shakes and trembles, And foundations of hills are troubled, And they shake—because He has wrath.
8 Un fumo gli saliva per le nari, Ed un fuoco consumante per la bocca; Da lui procedevano brace accese.
Smoke has gone up from His nostrils, And fire from His mouth consumes, Coals have been kindled by it.
9 Ed egli abbassò i cieli, e discese; E [vi era] una caligine sotto a' suoi piedi.
And He inclines the heavens, and comes down, And thick darkness [is] under His feet.
10 E cavalcava sopra Cherubini, e volava; Ed era portato a volo sopra l'ale del vento.
And He rides on a cherub, and flies, And He flies on wings of wind.
11 Egli aveva poste delle tenebre [per] suo nascondimento; [Egli avea] d'intorno a sè il suo padiglione, Oscurità d'acque, nubi dell'aria.
He makes darkness His secret place, Around Him His dwelling place, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 Le sue nubi si dileguarono per lo splendore [che scoppiava] davanti a lui, Con gragnuola e brace accese.
From the brightness before Him His thick clouds have passed on, Hail and coals of fire.
13 E il Signore tuonò nel cielo, E l'Altissimo diede fuori la sua voce, Con gragnuola e brace accese.
And YHWH thunders in the heavens, And the Most High gives forth His voice, Hail and coals of fire.
14 Ed avventò le sue saette, e disperse coloro; Egli lanciò folgori, e li mise in rotta.
And He sends His arrows and scatters them, And much lightning, and crushes them.
15 E per lo tuo sgridare, o Signore, [E] per lo soffiar del vento delle tue nari, I canali delle acque apparvero, E i fondamenti del mondo furono scoperti.
And the streams of waters are seen, And foundations of the earth are revealed, From Your rebuke, O YHWH, From the breath of the wind of Your anger.
16 Egli da alto distese [la mano e] mi prese, [E] mi trasse, fuori di grandi acque.
He sends from above—He takes me, He draws me out of many waters.
17 Egli mi riscosse dal mio potente nemico, E da quelli che mi odiavano; perciocchè erano più forti di [me].
He delivers me from my strong enemy, And from those hating me, For they have been stronger than I.
18 Essi erano venuti incontro a me nel giorno della mia calamità; Ma il Signore fu il mio sostegno;
They go before me in a day of my calamity And YHWH is for a support to me.
19 E mi trasse fuori al largo; Egli mi liberò, perciocchè egli mi gradisce.
And He brings me forth to a large place, He draws me out, because He delighted in me.
20 Il Signore mi ha fatta retribuzione secondo la mia giustizia; Egli mi ha renduto secondo la purità delle mie mani;
YHWH repays me According to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, He returns to me.
21 Perciocchè io ho osservate le vie del Signore, E non mi sono empiamente rivolto dall'Iddio mio;
For I have kept the ways of YHWH, And have not done wickedly against my God.
22 Perciocchè io ho tenute davanti a me tutte le sue leggi, E non ho rimossi d'innanzi a me i suoi statuti.
For all His judgments [are] before me, And I do not turn His statutes from me.
23 E sono stato intiero inverso lui, E mi son guardato dalla mia iniquità.
And I am perfect with Him, And I keep myself from my iniquity.
24 E il Signore mi ha renduto secondo la mia giustizia, Secondo la purità delle mie mani nel suo cospetto.
And YHWH returns to me, According to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, Before His eyes.
25 Tu ti mostri pietoso inverso l'[uomo] pio, Intiero inverso l'uomo intiero.
With the kind You show Yourself kind, With a perfect man You show Yourself perfect.
26 Tu ti mostri puro col puro, E procedi ritrosamente col perverso;
With the pure You show Yourself pure, And with the perverse You show Yourself a wrestler,
27 Perciocchè tu sei quel che salvi la gente afflitta, Ed abbassi gli occhi altieri;
For You save a poor people, And cause the eyes of the high to fall.
28 Perciocchè tu sei quel che fai risplendere la mia lampana; Il Signore Iddio mio allumina le mie tenebre;
For You light my lamp, My God YHWH enlightens my darkness.
29 Perciocchè per la tua virtù io rompo tutta una schiera; E per la virtù dell'Iddio mio salgo sopra il muro.
For by You I run [against] a troop! And by my God I leap a wall.
30 La via di Dio [è] intiera; La parola del Signore [è] purgata col fuoco; Egli [è] lo scudo di tutti coloro che sperano in lui.
God—perfect [is] His way, The saying of YHWH is tried, He [is] a shield to all those trusting in Him.
31 Perciocchè chi [è] Dio, fuor che il Signore? E chi [è] Rocca, fuor che l'Iddio nostro?
For who [is] God besides YHWH? And who [is] a rock except our God?
32 Iddio [è] quel che mi cinge di prodezza, E che ha appianata la mia via.
God—who is girding me [with] strength, And He makes my way perfect.
33 Egli rende i miei piedi simili a quelli delle cerve, E mi fa star ritto in su i miei alti luoghi.
Making my feet like does, And on my high places causes me to stand.
34 Egli ammaestra le mie mani alla battaglia; E colle mie braccia un arco di rame è rotto.
Teaching my hands for battle, And a bow of bronze was brought down by my arms.
35 Tu mi hai ancora dato lo scudo della tua salvezza; E la tua destra mi ha sostenuto, E la tua benignità mi ha accresciuto.
And You give to me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand supports me, And Your lowliness makes me great.
36 Tu hai allargati i miei passi sotto di me; E le mie calcagna non son vacillate.
You enlarge my step under me, And my ankles have not slipped.
37 Io ho perseguitati i miei nemici, e li ho aggiunti; E non me ne son tornato [indietro], finchè non li abbia distrutti.
I pursue my enemies, and overtake them, And do not turn back until they are consumed.
38 Io li ho rotti, e non son potuti risorgere; Mi son caduti sotto i piedi.
I strike them, and they are not able to rise, They fall under my feet,
39 E tu mi hai cinto di prodezza per la guerra; [Ed] hai abbattuti sotto di me quelli che si levavano contro a me.
And You gird me [with] strength for battle, You cause my withstanders to bow under me.
40 Ed hai fatto voltar le spalle a' miei nemici davanti a me; Ed io ho distrutti quelli che mi odiavano.
As for my enemies—You have given to me the neck, As for those hating me—I cut them off.
41 Essi gridarono, ma non [vi fu] chi [li] salvasse; [Gridarono] al Signore, ma egli non rispose loro.
They cry, and there is no savior, On YHWH, and He does not answer them.
42 Ed io li ho tritati, come polvere esposta al vento; Io li ho spazzati via, come il fango delle strade.
And I beat them as dust before wind, I empty them out as mire of the streets.
43 Tu mi hai scampato dalle brighe del popolo; Tu mi hai costituito capo di nazioni; Il popolo [che] io non conosceva mi è stato sottoposto.
You deliver me From the strivings of the people, You place me for a head of nations, A people I have not known serve me.
44 Al solo udir degli orecchi si son ridotti sotto la mia ubbidienza; Gli stranieri si sono infinti inverso me.
At the hearing of the ear they listen to me, Sons of a stranger feign obedience to me,
45 Gli stranieri son divenuti fiacchi, Ed hanno tremato di paura, fin dentro a' lor ripari.
Sons of a stranger fade away, And are slain out of their close places.
46 Viva il Signore, e benedetta [sia] la mia Rocca; E sia esaltato l'Iddio della mia salute;
YHWH lives—and blessed [is] my rock, And exalted is the God of my salvation.
47 Iddio che mi dà [il modo di far le mie] vendette, E [che] mi sottomette i popoli.
God—who is giving vengeance to me, And He subdues peoples under me,
48 Che mi scampa da' miei nemici, Ed anche mi solleva d'infra quelli che mi assaltano, [E] mi riscuote dall'uomo violento.
My deliverer from my enemies, You raise me above my withstanders, Deliver me from a man of violence.
49 Perciò, o Signore, io ti celebrerò fra le genti, E salmeggerò al tuo Nome;
Therefore I confess You among nations, O YHWH, And I sing praise to Your Name,
50 Il quale rende magnifiche le vittorie del suo re, Ed usa benignità inverso Davide suo unto, E inverso la sua progenie in perpetuo.
Magnifying the salvation of His king, And doing kindness to His anointed, To David, and to his seed—for all time!
