Salmi 12

1 Salmo di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici, sopra Seminit SALVA, Signore; perciocchè gli [uomini] pii son venuti meno, Ed i veraci son mancati fra i figliuoli degli uomini.

For the Leader; on the Sheminith. A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 Ciascuno parla con menzogna col suo prossimo, Con labbra lusinghiere; Parlano [con] un cuor doppio.

They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour; with flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

3 Il Signore ricida tutte le labbra lusinghiere, La lingua che parla altieramente;

May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things!

4 [Di coloro] che dicono: Noi sarem padroni colle nostre lingue; Le nostre labbra [sono] appo noi; Chi [è] signore sopra noi?

Who have said: 'Our tongue will we make mighty; our lips are with us: who is lord over us?'

5 Per la desolazione de' poveri afflitti, per le strida de' bisognosi, Ora mi leverò, dice il Signore; Io metterò in salvo [quelli] contro a cui [coloro] parlano audacemente.

'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise', saith the LORD; 'I will set him in safety at whom they puff.'

6 Le parole del Signore [son] parole pure, Argento affinato nel fornello di terra, Purgato per sette volte.

The words of the LORD are pure words, as silver tried in a crucible on the earth, refined seven times.

7 Tu, Signore, guarda coloro; Preservali da questa generazione in perpetuo.

Thou wilt keep them, O LORD; Thou wilt preserve us from this generation for ever.

8 Gli empi vanno attorno, Quando i più vili d'infra i figliuoli degli uomini sono innalzati.

The wicked walk on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
