Proverbi 12
1 Chi ama la correzione ama la scienza; Ma chi odia la riprensione [è] insensato.
Whoever is loving instruction, is loving knowledge, And whoever is hating reproof [is] brutish.
2 L'uomo da bene ottiene benevolenza dal Signore; Ma egli condannerà l'uomo malizioso.
The good brings forth favor from YHWH, And the man of wicked schemes He condemns.
3 L'uomo non sarà stabilito per empietà; E la radice de' giusti non sarà smossa.
A man is not established by wickedness, And the root of the righteous is not moved.
4 La donna di valore [è] la corona del suo marito; Ma quella che reca vituperio gli [è] come un tarlo nelle ossa.
A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband, And as rottenness in his bones [is] one causing shame.
5 I pensieri de' giusti [son] dirittura; [Ma] i consigli degli empi [son] frode.
The thoughts of the righteous [are] justice, The counsels of the wicked—deceit.
6 La parole degli empi [tendono] ad insidiare al sangue; Ma la bocca degli [uomini] diritti li riscoterà.
The words of the wicked [are]: “Lay [in] wait for blood,” And the mouth of the upright delivers them.
7 In un voltar degli empi, essi non [saranno più]; Ma la casa de' giusti starà in piè.
Overthrow the wicked, and they are not, And the house of the righteous stands.
8 L'uomo sarà lodato secondo il suo senno; Ma chi è stravolto d'animo sarà in isprezzo.
A man is praised according to his wisdom, And the perverted of heart becomes despised.
9 Meglio [è] colui del quale non si fa stima, e pure ha un servitore, Che colui che fa il borioso, ed ha mancamento di pane.
Better [is] the lightly esteemed who has a servant, Than the self-honored who lacks bread.
10 [L'uomo] giusto ha cura della vita della sua bestia; Ma le viscere degli empi [son] crudeli.
The righteous knows the life of his beast, And the mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.
11 Chi lavora la sua terra sarà saziato di pane; Ma chi va dietro agli uomini oziosi [è] scemo d'intelletto.
Whoever is tilling the ground is satisfied [with] bread, And whoever is pursuing vanities is lacking heart,
12 L'empio appetisce la rete de' malvagi; Ma la radice de' giusti mette fuori.
The wicked has desired the net of evildoers, And the root of the righteous gives.
13 Il laccio del malvagio [è] nella dislealtà delle labbra; Ma il giusto uscirà di distretta.
The snare of the wicked [is] in transgression of the lips, And the righteous goes out from distress.
14 L'uomo sarà saziato di beni per lo frutto della [sua] bocca; E [Dio] renderà all'uomo la retribuzione [dell'opere] delle sue mani.
One [is] satisfied [with] good from the fruit of the mouth, And the deed of man’s hands returns to him.
15 La via dello stolto [è] diritta al suo parere; Ma chi ascolta consiglio [è] savio.
The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes, And whoever is listening to counsel [is] wise.
16 Il cruccio dello stolto è conosciuto lo stesso giorno; Ma l'avveduto copre il vituperio.
The fool—his anger is known in a day, And the prudent is covering shame.
17 Chi parla verità rapporta il giusto; Ma il falso testimonio [rapporta] frode.
Whoever utters faithfulness declares righteousness, And a false witness—deceit.
18 Ei vi è tale che pronunzia [parole] simile a coltellate; Ma la lingua de' savi [è] medicina.
A rash speaker is like piercings of a sword, And the tongue of the wise is healing.
19 Il labbro verace sarà stabile in perpetuo; Ma la lingua bugiarda [sarà sol] per un momento.
The lip of truth is established forever, And a tongue of falsehood for a moment.
20 Inganno [è] nel cuor di coloro che macchinano del male; Ma [vi è] allegrezza per quelli che consigliano pace.
Deceit [is] in the heart of those devising evil, But for counselors of peace—joy.
21 Niuna molestia avverrà al giusto; Ma gli empi saranno ripieni di male.
No iniquity is desired by the righteous, And the wicked have been full of evil.
22 Le labbra bugiarde [son] cosa abbominevole al Signore; Ma coloro che operano in verità son graditi da lui.
Lying lips [are] an abomination to YHWH, And steadfast doers [are] his delight.
23 L'uomo avveduto copre la scienza; Ma il cuor degli stolti pubblica la follia.
A prudent man is concealing knowledge, And the heart of fools proclaims folly.
24 La mano de' diligenti signoreggerà; Ma la pigra sarà tributaria.
The hand of the diligent rules, And slothfulness becomes tributary.
25 Il cordoglio nel cuor dell'uomo l'abbatte; Ma la buona parola lo rallegra.
Sorrow in the heart of a man bows down, And a good word makes him glad.
26 Il giusto abbonda [in beni] più che il suo prossimo; Ma la via degli empi li fa andare errando.
The righteous searches his companion, And the way of the wicked causes them to err.
27 Il pigro non arrostisce la sua cacciagione; Ma i beni dell'uomo diligente [sono] preziosi.
The slothful does not roast his game, And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.
28 Nella via della giustizia [vi è] vita; E [nel] cammino de' [suoi] sentieri non [vi è] morte.
In the path of righteousness [is] life, And in the way of [that] path [is] no death!
