Numeri 32
1 OR i figliuoli di Ruben, e i figliuoli di Gad, aveano del bestiame in grandissimo numero: laonde, veggendo che il paese di Iazer, e il paese di Galaad, [era] luogo da bestiame;
And much livestock has [belonged] to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad—very many; and they see the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place [is] a place [for] livestock;
2 vennero, e parlarono a Mosè, e al Sacerdote Eleazaro, e a' Capi della raunanza, dicendo:
and the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben come in and speak to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 Atarot, e Dibon, e Iazer, e Nimra, e Hesbon, ed Eleale, e Sebam, e Nebo, e Beon,
“Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
4 [che è il] paese che il Signore ha percosso davanti alla raunanza d'Israele, è un paese da bestiame, e i tuoi servitori hanno del bestiame.
the land which YHWH has struck before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.”
5 Poi dissero: Se abbiamo trovata grazia appo te, sia dato questo paese a possedere ai tuoi servitori, [e] non farci passare il Giordano.
And they say, “If we have found grace in your eyes, let this land be given to your servants for a possession; cause us not to pass over the Jordan.”
6 Ma Mosè rispose a' figliuoli di Gad, e a' figliuoli di Ruben: Andrebbero i vostri fratelli alla guerra, e voi ve ne stareste qui?
And Moses says to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Reuben, “Do your brothers go to the battle, and you—do you sit here?
7 E perchè rendete voi fiacco il cuor de' figliuoli d'Israele, per non passare al paese, che il Signore ha loro donato?
And why discourage the heart of the sons of Israel from passing over to the land which YHWH has given to them?
8 Così fecero i vostri padri, quando io li mandai da Cades-barnea, per vedere il paese.
Thus your fathers did in my sending them from Kadesh-Barnea to see the land;
9 Perciocchè essi salirono fino alla Valle di Escol, e, dopo ch'ebbero veduto il paese, renderono fiacco il cuor de' figliuoli d'Israele, per non entrar nel paese che il Signore avea loro donato.
and they go up to the Valley of Eshcol, and see the land, and discourage the heart of the sons of Israel so as not to go into the land which YHWH has given to them;
10 Laonde, l'ira del Signore si accesse in quel giorno, ed egli giurò, dicendo:
and the anger of YHWH burns in that day, and He swears, saying,
11 Se gli uomini, che sono usciti fuor di Egitto, dall'età di vent'anni in su, veggono mai la terra, della quale io ho giurato ad Abrahamo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe; conciossiachè non mi abbiano seguitato appieno;
They do not see—the men who are coming up out of Egypt from a son of twenty years and upward—the ground which I have sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, for they have not been fully after Me,
12 salvo Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne, Chenizzeo, e Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun; perciocchè essi hanno seguitato il Signore appieno.
except Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezite and Joshua son of Nun, for they have been fully after YHWH;
13 E l'ira del Signore si accese contro a Israele; ed egli li ha fatti andar vagando per lo deserto, [lo spazio di] quarant'anni, finchè sia stata consumata tutta quella generazione, che avea fatto quel male nel cospetto del Signore.
and the anger of YHWH burns against Israel, and He causes them to wander in the wilderness [for] forty years, until the consumption of all the generation which is doing evil in the eyes of YHWH.
14 Ed ecco, voi siete sorti in luogo de' vostri padri, schiatta d'uomini peccatori, per accrescere ancora l'ira del Signore contro a Israele.
And behold, you have risen in the stead of your fathers, an increase of sinful men, to add yet to the fury of the anger of YHWH toward Israel;
15 Perciocchè, se voi vi stornate di dietro a lui, egli seguiterà a lasciarlo nel deserto; e [così] farete perir tutto questo popolo.
when you turn back from after Him, then He has added yet to leave him in the wilderness, and you have done corruptly to all this people.”
16 Ma essi si accostarono a lui, e dissero: Noi edificheremo qui delle mandre per lo nostro bestiame, e delle città per le nostre famiglie.
And they come near to him and say, “We build folds for the flock here for our livestock, and cities for our infants;
17 Ma noi ci metteremo in ordine, pronti per andar davanti a' figliuoli d'Israele, infino a tanto che li abbiamo condotti al luogo loro; e [in questo mezzo] le nostre famiglie dimoreranno nelle città forti, per tema degli abitanti del paese.
but we are armed, hastening before the sons of Israel until we have brought them to their place; and our infants have dwelt in the cities of defense because of the inhabitants of the land;
18 Noi non ritorneremo alle case nostre, finchè ciascuno de' figliuoli d'Israele non sia entrato nella sua eredità.
we do not return to our houses until the sons of Israel have each inherited his inheritance,
19 Perciocchè, quant'è a noi, noi non possederemo [nulla] con loro di là dal Giordano; essendoci la nostra eredità scaduta di qua dal Giordano, verso oriente.
for we do not inherit with them across the Jordan and beyond, for our inheritance has come to us beyond the Jordan at the [sun]-rising.”
20 E Mosè disse loro: Se voi fate questa cosa, [e] siete in ordine per [andare al]la guerra, davanti al Signore;
And Moses says to them, “If you do this thing, if you are armed before YHWH for battle,
21 e qualunque di voi è atto alla guerra, passa il Giordano davanti al Signore, finchè egli abbia cacciati i suoi nemici dal suo cospetto;
and every armed one of you has passed over the Jordan before YHWH, until His dispossessing His enemies from before Him,
22 dopo che il paese sarà stato soggiogato al Signore, voi potrete ritornarvene, e sarete fuor di colpa appo il Signore, e appo Israele; e questo paese sarà vostro, per possederlo nel cospetto del Signore.
and the land has been subdued before YHWH, then afterward you return, and have been acquitted by YHWH and by Israel, and this land has been to you for a possession before YHWH.
23 Ma, se non fate così, ecco, voi avrete peccato contro al Signore; e sappiate che il vostro peccato vi ritroverà.
And if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against YHWH, and know that your sin finds you;
24 Edificatevi delle città per le vostre famiglie, e delle mandre per le vostre gregge, e fate ciò che vi è uscito della bocca.
build for yourselves cities for your infants and folds for your flock, and that which is going out from your mouth you do.”
25 E i figliuoli di Gad, e i figliuoli di Ruben, risposero a Mosè, dicendo: I tuoi servitori faranno come il mio signore comanda.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben speak to Moses, saying, “Your servants do as my lord is commanding;
26 I nostri piccoli fanciulli, le nostre mogli, le nostre gregge, e tutto il nostro bestiame dimoreranno colà nelle città di Galaad.
our infants, our wives, our livestock, and all our beasts, are there in cities of Gilead,
27 Ma quant'è a' tuoi servitori chiunque sarà atto alla guerra passerà alla guerra, davanti al Signore, come dice il mio signore.
and your servants pass over, every armed one of the host, before YHWH, to battle, as my lord is saying.”
28 E Mosè diede ordine intorno a loro al Sacerdote Eleazaro, e a Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun, e a' Capi delle [nazioni] paterne delle tribù de' figliuoli d'Israele;
And Moses commands Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel concerning them;
29 e disse loro: Se tutti coloro d'infra i figliuoli di Gad, e i figliuoli di Ruben, che sono atti alla guerra, passano con voi il Giordano davanti al Signore, quando il paese vi sarà soggiogato, date loro a possedere il paese di Galaad.
and Moses says to them, “If the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben pass over the Jordan with you, everyone armed for battle, before YHWH, and the land has been subdued before you, then you have given the land of Gilead to them for a possession;
30 Ma, se non passano con voi in arme, abbiano la lor possessione fra voi nel paese di Canaan.
and if they do not pass over armed with you, then they have possessions in your midst in the land of Canaan.”
31 E i figliuoli di Gad, e i figliuoli di Ruben, risposero, dicendo: Noi faremo interamente come il Signore ha detto ai tuoi servitori.
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben answer, saying, “That which YHWH has spoken to your servants, so we do;
32 Noi passeremo in arme nel paese di Canaan, davanti al Signore; sol restici la possessione della nostra eredità di qua dal Giordano.
we pass over armed before YHWH [to] the land of Canaan, and with us [is] the possession of our inheritance beyond the Jordan.”
33 Mosè adunque diede loro, a' figliuoli di Gad, a' figliuoli di Ruben, e alla metà della tribù di Manasse, figliuolo di Giuseppe, il regno di Sihon, re degli Amorrei, e il regno di Og, re di Basan, il paese [diviso] per le sue città, co' lor confini, le città del paese d'ogni intorno.
And Moses gives to them—to the sons of Gad, and to the sons of Reuben, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph—the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorite and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land by its cities, in the borders, the cities of the surrounding land.
34 E i figliuoli di Gad riedificarono Dibon, e Atarot, e Aroer;
And the sons of Gad build Dihon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 e Atrotsofan, e Iazer, e Iogbeha;
and Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,
36 e Betnimra, e Bet-haran, città forti, e fecero ancora delle mandre per le gregge.
and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-Haran, cities of defense, and sheepfolds.
37 E i figliuoli di Ruben riedificarono Hesbon, ed Eleale, e Chiriataim;
And the sons of Reuben have built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,
38 e Nebo, e Baal-meon, mutati i nomi, e Sibma; e posero [altri] nomi alle città che riedificarono.
and Nebo, and Ba‘al-Meon (changed in name), and Shibmah, and they call the names of the cities which they have built by [these] names.
39 E i figliuoli di Machir, figliuolo di Manasse, andarono in Galaad, e lo presero, e cacciarono gli Amorrei che vi [erano].
And sons of Machir son of Manasseh go to Gilead, and capture it, and dispossess the Amorite who [is] in it;
40 Mosè adunque diede Galaad a Machir, figliuolo di Manasse; ed egli abitò quivi.
and Moses gives Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and he dwells in it.
41 Iair anch'egli, figliuolo di Manasse, andò, e prese le villate di quelli, e pose loro nome: Le villate di Iair.
And Jair son of Manasseh has gone and captures their towns, and calls them “Towns of Jair”;
42 Noba parimente andò, e prese Chenat, e le terre del suo territorio; e chiamò quella Noba, del suo nome.
and Nobah has gone and captures Kenath and its villages, and calls it Nobah, by his own name.
