Luca 20
1 ED avvenne un di que' giorni, che, mentre egli insegnava il popolo nel tempio, ed evangelizzava, i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, con gli anziani, sopraggiunsero.
And it came to pass, on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and publishing the good tidings, that the priests and the scribes with the elders came upon him,
2 E gli dissero: Dicci di quale autorità tu fai coteste cose; o, chi è colui che ti ha data cotesta autorità.
and spoke to him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? Or who is he that gave thee this authority?
3 Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Anch'io vi domanderò una cosa; e voi ditemela:
And he answering said to them, I also will ask you a question; and tell me:
4 Il battesimo di Giovanni era egli dal cielo, o dagli uomini?
The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men?
5 Ed essi ragionavan fra loro, dicendo: Se diciamo [che era] dal cielo, egli ci dirà: Perchè dunque non gli credeste?
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven, he will say, Why did ye not believe him?
6 Se altresì diciamo [che era] dagli uomini, tutto il popolo ci lapiderà; perciocchè egli è persuaso che Giovanni era profeta.
But if we say, From men, all the people will stone us; for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
7 Risposero adunque che non sapevano onde [egli fosse].
And they answered, that they did not know whence it was.
8 E Gesù disse loro: Io ancora non vi dirò di quale autorità io fo queste cose.
And Jesus said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
9 POI prese a dire al popolo questa parabola. Un uomo piantò una vigna, e l'allogò a certi lavoratori, e se ne andò in viaggio, e dimorò fuori lungo tempo.
And he began to speak to the people this parable: A man planted a vineyard, and let it out to husbandmen, and went abroad for a long time.
10 E nella stagione mandò un servitore a que' lavoratori, acciocchè gli desser del frutto della vigna; ma i lavoratori, battutolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard; but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty-handed.
11 Ed egli di nuovo vi mandò un altro servitore; ma essi, battuto ancora lui, e vituperatolo, lo rimandarono vuoto.
And he sent still another servant; and they beat him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.
12 Ed egli ne mandò ancora un terzo; ma essi, ferito ancora costui, lo cacciarono.
And he went on to send a third; and they wounded him also, and cast him out.
13 E il signor della vigna disse: Che farò? io vi manderò il mio diletto figliuolo; forse, quando lo vedranno, gli porteranno rispetto.
And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.
14 Ma i lavoratori, vedutolo, ragionaron fra loro, dicendo: Costui è l'erede; venite, uccidiamolo, acciocchè l'eredità divenga nostra.
But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, that the inheritance may become ours.
15 E, cacciatolo fuor della vigna, l'uccisero. Che farà loro adunque il signor della vigna?
So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What then will the lord of the vineyard do to them?
16 Egli verrà, e distruggerà que' lavoratori, e darà la vigna ad altri. Ma essi, udito [ciò], dissero: Così non sia.
He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And when they heard this, they said, God forbid!
17 Ed egli, riguardatili in faccia, disse: Che cosa adunque è questo ch'è scritto: La pietra che gli edificatori hanno riprovata è divenuta il capo del cantone?
But he, looking upon them, said, What then is this which is written, “The stone which the builders rejected, the same hath become the corner-stone”?
18 Chiunque caderà sopra quella pietra sarà fiaccato, ed ella triterà colui sopra cui ella caderà.
Every one who falleth upon that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falleth, it will grind him to powder.
19 ED i principali sacerdoti, e gli Scribi, cercavano in quella stessa ora di mettergli le mani addosso, perciocchè riconobbero ch'egli avea detta quella parabola contro a loro; ma temettero il popolo.
And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him in that hour, but they feared the people; for they knew that he spoke this parable against them.
20 E, spiandolo, gli mandarono degl'insidiatori, che simulassero d'esser giusti, per soprapprenderlo in parole; per darlo in man della signoria, ed alla podestà del governatore.
And they kept watch on him, and sent forth spies feigning themselves to be righteous men, that they might take hold of his words, in order to deliver him up to the civil power and to the authority of the governor.
21 E quelli gli fecero una domanda, dicendo: Maestro, noi sappiamo che tu parli ed insegni dirittamente, e che non hai riguardo alla qualità delle persone, ma insegni la via di Dio in verità;
And they asked him, saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and hast no regard to the person of men, but teachest the way of God truly.
22 ecci egli lecito di pagare il tributo a Cesare, o no?
Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
23 Ed egli, avvedutosi della loro astuzia, disse loro: Perchè mi tentate?
But perceiving their craftiness, he said to them,
24 Mostratemi un denaro; di cui porta egli la figura, e la soprascritta? Ed essi, rispondendo, dissero: Di Cesare.
Show me a denary. Whose image and inscription hath it? And they answered and said, Caesar's.
25 Ed egli disse loro: Rendete adunque a Cesare le cose di Cesare, e a Dio le cose di Dio.
And he said to them, Render then to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.
26 E non lo poterono soprapprendere in parole davanti al popolo; e, maravigliatisi della sua risposta, si tacquero.
And they could not take hold of his words before the people; and marveling at his answer, they held their peace.
27 OR alcuni de' Sadducei, i quali pretendono non esservi risurrezione, accostatisi, lo domandarono, dicendo:
Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to him, and asked him,
28 Maestro, Mosè ci ha scritto, che se il fratello d'alcuno muore avendo moglie, e muore senza figliuoli, il suo fratello prenda la moglie, e susciti progenie al suo fratello.
saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, “If a man's brother die, having a wife, and the same die without children, his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.”
29 Or vi furono sette fratelli; e il primo, presa moglie, morì senza figliuoli.
Now there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless.
30 E il secondo prese quella moglie, e morì anch'egli senza figliuoli.
And the second
31 Poi il terzo la prese; e simigliantemente tutti e sette; e morirono senza aver lasciati figliuoli.
and the third took her; and in like manner also the seven left no children, and died.
32 Ora, dopo tutti, morì anche la donna.
At last the woman also died.
33 Nella risurrezione adunque, di chi di loro sarà ella moglie? poichè tutti e sette l'hanno avuta per moglie.
In the resurrection then, of which of them is the woman the wife? for the seven had her for a wife.
34 E Gesù, rispondendo, disse loro: I figliuoli di questo secolo sposano, e son maritati; (aiōn g165)
And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world marry, and are given in marriage; (aiōn g165)
35 ma coloro che saranno reputati degni d'ottener quel secolo, e la risurrezion de' morti, non isposano, e non son maritati. (aiōn g165)
but they who have been accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage; (aiōn g165)
36 Perciocchè ancora non possono più morire; poichè siano pari agli angeli; e son figliuoli di Dio, essendo figliuoli della risurrezione.
for they cannot die any more; for they are like the angels, and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
37 Or che i morti risuscitino, Mosè stesso lo dichiarò presso al pruno, quando egli nomina il Signore l'Iddio d'Abrahamo, e l'Iddio d'Isacco, e l'Iddio di Giacobbe.
But that the dead are raised, even Moses hath shown at the Bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
38 Or egli non è Dio de' morti, anzi de' viventi; poichè tutti vivono per lui.
Now he is not a God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.
39 Ed alcuni degli Scribi gli fecer motto, e dissero: Maestro, bene hai detto.
Then some of the scribes answering, said, Teacher, thou hast well said.
40 E non ardirono più fargli alcuna domanda.
For they dared no longer to ask him any question.
41 ED egli disse loro: Come dicono che il Cristo sia figliuolo di Davide?
And he said to them, How is it that men say that the Christ is David's son?
42 E pur Davide stesso, nel libro de' Salmi, dice: Il Signore ha detto al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,
For David himself saith in the book of Psalms, “The Lord said to my lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
43 finchè io abbia posti i tuoi nemici per iscannello de' tuoi piedi.
till I make thine enemies thy footstool.”
44 Davide adunque lo chiama Signore. E come è egli suo figliuolo?
David then calleth him lord; and how is he his son?
45 ORA, mentre tutto il popolo stava ascoltando, egli disse a' suoi discepoli.
And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples,
46 Guardatevi dagli Scribi, i quali volentieri passeggiano in vesti lunghe, ed amano le salutazioni nelle piazze, e i primi seggi nelle raunanze, e i primi luoghi ne' conviti.
Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes, and love salutations in the markets, and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the first places at feasts;
47 I quali divorano le case delle vedove, eziandio sotto specie di far lunghe orazioni; essi ne riceveranno maggior condannazione.
who devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers. These will receive a far greater condemnation.
