Giobbe 20
1 E SOFAR Naamatita rispose, e disse:
And Zophar the Naamathite answered and said,
2 Perciò i miei pensamenti m'incitano a rispondere, E perciò [questa] mia fretta [è] in me.
Therefore do my thoughts give me an answer, and for this is my haste within me.
3 Io ho udita la mia vituperosa riprensione; Ma lo spirito [mio] mi spinge a rispondere del mio intendimento.
I hear a reproof putting me to shame; and [my] spirit answereth me by mine understanding.
4 Non sai tu questo, [che è stato] d'ogni tempo, Da che l'uomo fu posto sopra la terra;
Knowest thou [not] this, that of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 Che il trionfo degli empi [è] di breve durata, E che la letizia dell'ipocrita [è sol] per un momento?
The exultation of the wicked is short, and the joy of the ungodly man but for a moment?
6 Avvegnachè la sua altezza salisse fino al cielo, E il suo capo giungesse infino alle nuvole;
Though his height mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds,
7 Pur perirà egli in perpetuo, come lo sterco suo; Quelli che l'avranno veduto, diranno: Ove [è] egli?
Like his own dung doth he perish for ever; they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8 Egli se ne volerà via come un sogno, e non sarà [più] ritrovato, E si dileguerà come una visione notturna.
He flieth away as a dream, and is not found; and is chased away as a vision of the night.
9 L'occhio [che] l'avrà veduto nol [vedrà] più, E il suo luogo nol mirerà più.
The eye which saw him shall [see him] not again; and his place beholdeth him no more.
10 I suoi figliuoli procacceranno il favor de' poveri, E le sue mani restituiranno quel ch'egli avrà rapito per violenza.
His children shall seek the favour of the poor, and his hands restore his wealth.
11 Le sue ossa saranno ripiene [degli eccessi] della sua gioventù, I quali giaceranno con lui in su la polvere.
His bones were full of his youthful strength; but it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Se il male gli è stato dolce nella bocca, [Se] egli l'ha nascosto sotto la sua lingua;
Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth [and] he hide it under his tongue,
13 [Se] l'ha riserbato, e non l'ha gittato fuori; Anzi l'ha ritenuto in mezzo del suo palato;
[Though] he spare it, and forsake it not, but keep it within his mouth,
14 Il suo cibo gli si cangerà nelle sue viscere, E diverrà veleno d'aspido nelle sue interiora.
His food is turned in his bowels; it is the gall of asps within him.
15 Egli avrà trangugiate le ricchezze, ma egli le vomiterà; Iddio gliele caccerà fuor del ventre.
He hath swallowed down riches, but he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Egli avrà succiato il veleno dell'aspido, La lingua della vipera l'ucciderà.
He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall kill him.
17 Egli non vedrà i ruscelli, I fiumi, i torrenti del miele e del burro.
He shall not see streams, rivers, brooks of honey and butter.
18 Egli renderà [ciò che con] fatica [avrà acquistato], e non l'inghiottirà; Pari alla potenza [sua sarà] il suo mutamento, e non ne goderà.
That which he laboured for shall he restore, and not swallow down; its restitution shall be according to the value, and he shall not rejoice [therein].
19 Perciocchè egli ha oppressato [altrui], egli lascerà [dietro a sè] de' bisognosi; [Perciocchè] egli ha rapita la casa [altrui], egli non edificherà [la sua].
For he hath oppressed, hath forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house that he did not build.
20 Perciocchè egli non ha mai sentito riposo nel suo ventre, Non potrà salvar [nulla] delle sue più care cose.
Because he knew no rest in his craving, he shall save nought of what he most desired.
21 Nulla gli rimarrà da mangiare, E però egli non avrà più speranza ne' suoi beni.
Nothing escaped his greediness; therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
22 Quando egli sarà ripieno a sufficienza, allora sarà distretto; Tutte le mani de' miseri gli verranno contra.
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
23 [Quando] egli sarà per empiersi il ventre, [Iddio] gli manderà addosso l'ardore della sua ira, E [la] farà piovere sopra lui, [e] sopra il suo cibo.
It shall be that, to fill his belly, he will cast his fierce anger upon him, and will rain it upon him into his flesh.
24 [Quando egli] fuggirà dalle armi di ferro, Un arco di rame lo trafiggerà.
If he have fled from the iron weapon, the bow of brass shall strike him through.
25 [Come prima la saetta] sarà tratta fuori, La punta gli passerà per mezzo il fiele, Dopo esser uscita del suo turcasso; Spaventi gli saranno addosso.
He draweth it forth; it cometh out of his body, and the glittering point out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26 Tutte le tenebre [saran] nascoste ne' suoi nascondimenti; Un fuoco non soffiato lo divorerà; Chi sopravviverà nel suo tabernacolo, capiterà male.
All darkness is laid up for his treasures: a fire not blown shall devour him; it shall feed upon what is left in his tent.
27 I cieli scopriranno la sua iniquità, E la terra si leverà contro a lui.
The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 La rendita della sua casa sarà trasportata [ad altri]; [Ogni cosa sua] scorrerà via, nel giorno dell'ira di esso,
The increase of his house shall depart, flowing away in the day of his anger.
29 Questa [è] la parte [assegnata] da Dio all'uomo empio, E l'eredità [ch'egli riceve] da Dio per le sue parole.
This is the portion of the wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.
