Giobbe 18
1 E BILDAD Suhita rispose, e disse:
Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
2 Fino a quando non metterete fine a' ragionamenti? Intendete [prima], e poi parleremo [insieme].
When will ye at length put an end to words? Come to an understanding, and afterward let us speak.
3 Perchè siamo noi riputati per bestie? E [perchè] ci avete voi a schifo?
For what cause are we counted as beasts, reputed stupid your eyes?
4 [O tu], che laceri l'anima tua nel tuo cruccio, Sarà la terra abbandonata per cagion tua, E saranno le roccie trasportate dal luogo loro?
Thou, the one that teareth himself to pieces in his anger— shall for thy sake the earth be forsaken, and the rock be moved away out of its place?
5 Sì, la luce degli empi sarà spenta, E niuna favilla del fuoco loro rilucerà.
Ah, truly the light of the wicked will be quenched, and the spark of his fire shall not give light.
6 La luce sarà oscurata nel lor tabernacolo. E la lor lampana sarà spenta intorno a loro.
The light becometh dark in his tent, and his lamp will be quenched above him.
7 I lor fieri passi saran ristretti, E il lor proprio consiglio li traboccherà abbasso;
His powerful steps will be narrowed, and his own counsel will cast him down.
8 Perciocchè essi si gitteranno nel laccio co' piedi loro, E cammineranno sopra la rete.
For he is driven into the net by his own feet, and he taketh his walk upon a snare.
9 Il laccio prenderà [loro] il calcagno, Il ladrone farà loro forza e violenza.
The trap will seize him by the heel, and the robber will prevail over him.
10 La fune sarà loro nascosta in terra, E la trappola in sul sentiero.
The cord is hidden for him in the ground, and a trap is set for him on the pathway.
11 Spaventi li conturberanno d'ogn'intorno, E li faranno fuggire in rotta.
All around do terrors scare him, and chase him as he walketh along.
12 La lor forza sarà affamata, E la calamità [sarà] loro apparecchiata allato.
His first-born will suffer hunger, and calamity will be ready for his wife.
13 Il primogenito della morte divorerà le membra della lor pelle; Divorerà le membra loro.
It will devour the limbs of his body: yea, the first-born of death will devour his limbs.
14 La lor confidanza sarà divelta dal lor tabernacolo; E ciò li farà camminare al re degli spaventi.
Then will be plucked up out of his tent his confidence, and [the evil] will urge him forward to the king of terrors.
15 Abiteranno ne' lor tabernacoli che non [saranno più] loro; Ei si spargerà del solfo in su le loro stanze.
It will dwell in his tent, because it is no more his: there will be strewed sulphur on his habitation.
16 Disotto le lor radici si seccheranno, E disopra i lor rami saranno tagliati.
Beneath, his roots will be dried up, and above will his boughs he cut away.
17 La lor memoria perirà d'in su la terra, E non avranno nome alcuno sopra le piazze.
His resemblance vanisheth from the earth, and no name remaineth for him in the streets.
18 Saranno spinti dalla luce nelle tenebre, E saranno cacciati fuor del mondo.
Men will thrust him out from light into darkness, and out of the world will they drive him.
19 Non avranno figliuoli, nè nipoti fra il lor popolo, Nè alcuno che sopravviva [loro] nelle loro abitazioni.
He will have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any that escapeth in the places of his sojourning.
20 La posterità stupirà del lor giorno, Come gli antenati ne avranno avuto orrore.
Because of his [calamitous] day are they that come after him astonished, and they that went before are seized with shuddering.
21 Certo tali [saranno] gli abitacoli de' perversi, E tal [sarà] il luogo [di] coloro che non conoscono Iddio.
Yea, such are the dwellings of the unjust, and this is the place of one that knew not God.
