Geremia 44
1 LA parola che fu [indirizzata] a Geremia, [per rapportarla] a tutti i Guidei, che dimoravano nel paese di Egitto, in Migdol, e in Tafnes, e in Nof, e nel paese di Patros, dicendo:
The word that has been to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who are dwelling in the land of Egypt—who are dwelling in Migdol, and in Tahpanhes, and in Noph, and in the land of Pathros—saying,
2 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Voi avete veduto tutto il male, che io ho fatto venire sopra Gerusalemme, e sopra tutte le città di Giuda; ed ecco, oggi son desolate,
“Thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: You have seen all the calamity that I have brought in on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah, and behold, they [are] a desolation to this day, and there is none dwelling in them,
3 e non [vi è] alcuno che abiti [in esse]; per la lor malvagità, che usarono per dispettarmi; andando a far profumi, [ed] a servire ad altri dii, i quali nè essi, nè voi, nè i vostri padri non avevate conosciuti.
because of their wickedness that they have done, by provoking Me to anger, by going to make incense, by serving other gods, that they did not know, they, you, and your fathers.
4 E [benchè] io vi mandassi tutti i miei servitori profeti, del continuo per ogni mattina, dicendo: Deh! non fate questa cosa abbominevole, che io odio;
And I send to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, Please do not do this abomination that I have hated—
5 non però ubbidirono, nè inchinarono il loro orecchio, per istornarsi dalla lor malvagità; per non far profumi ad altri dii.
and they have not listened nor inclined their ear to turn back from their wickedness, not to make incense to other gods,
6 Laonde il mio cruccio, e la mia ira si è versata, ed ha divampate le città di Giuda e le piazze di Gerusalemme; e sono state deserte e desolate, come [appare] al dì d'oggi.
and My fury is poured out, and My anger, and it burns in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and they are for a ruin, for a desolation, as [at] this day.
7 Ed ora, così ha detto il Signore, l'Iddio degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Perchè fate voi [questo] gran male contro alle anime vostre, per farvi distruggere del mezzo di Giuda, uomini, e donne, e fanciulli, e bambini di poppa, e non lasciarvi alcun rimanente?
And now, thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Why are you doing great evil to your own souls, to cut off man and woman, infant and suckling, from you, from the midst of Judah, so as not to leave a remnant to you:
8 dispettandomi colle opere delle vostre mani, facendo profumi ad altri dii, nel paese di Egitto, dove siete venuti per dimorarvi; acciocchè siate sterminati, e siate in maledizione, e in vituperio, appo tutte le nazioni della terra?
by provoking Me to anger by the works of your hands, by making incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, to where you are going to sojourn, so as to cut yourselves off, and so as to your being for a reviling and for a reproach among all nations of the earth?
9 Avete voi dimenticati i misfatti de' vostri padri, e i misfatti dei re di Giuda, e i misfatti delle lor mogli, e i vostri propri misfatti, e i misfatti delle vostre mogli, che han commessi nel paese di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme?
Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, that they have done in the land of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem?
10 Essi non sono stati domi infino al dì d'oggi, e non han temuto, e non son camminati nella mia Legge, e ne' miei statuti, che io avea proposti a voi, ed a' vostri padri.
They have not been humbled to this day, nor have they been afraid, nor have they walked in My law, and in My statutes, that I have set before you and before your fathers.
11 Perciò, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Ecco, io metto la mia faccia contro a voi in male, e per distruggere tutto Giuda.
Therefore, thus said YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel: Behold, I am setting My face against you for calamity, even to cut off all Judah,
12 Ed io torrò via quelli che son rimasti di Giuda, i quali han volta la faccia per entrar nel paese di Egitto, per dimorarvi; e saran tutti consumati; caderanno nel paese di Egitto: saran consumati per la spada, e per la fame, dal minore al maggiore; morranno per la spada, e per la fame; e saranno in esecrazione, in istupore, e in maledizione, e in vituperio.
and I have taken the remnant of Judah, who have set their faces to enter the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they have all been consumed in the land of Egypt; they fall by sword [and] are consumed by famine, from the least even to the greatest, they die by sword and by famine, and they have been for an execration, for an astonishment, and for a reviling, and for a reproach.
13 Ed io farò punizione di quelli che abitano nel paese di Egitto, siccome ho fatta punizione di Gerusalemme, per la spada, per la fame, e per la pestilenza.
And I have seen after those dwelling in the land of Egypt, as I saw after Jerusalem, with sword, with famine, and with pestilence,
14 E non vi sarà alcuno del rimanente di Giuda, di quelli che sono entrati nel paese di Egitto per dimorarvi, che si salvi, o che scampi per ritornar nel paese di Giuda, dove han l'animo intento a ritornare per abitarvi; perciocchè non [vi] ritorneranno, da alcuni infuori che scamperanno.
and there is not an escaped and remaining one of the remnant of Judah, who are entering into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, even to turn back to the land of Judah, to where they are lifting up their soul to return to dwell, for they do not turn back, except those escaping.”
15 Or tutti gli uomini, che sapevano che le lor mogli facevano profumi ad altri dii; e parimente tutte le donne quivi presenti, [in] gran raunanza, e tutto il popolo che dimorava nel paes di Egitto, in Patros, risposero a Geremia, dicendo:
And they answer Jeremiah—all the men who are knowing that their wives are making incense to other gods, and all the women who are remaining, a great assembly, even all the people who are dwelling in the land of Egypt, in Pathros—saying:
16 Quant'è alla parola che tu ci hai detta a nome del Signore, noi non ti ubbidiremo.
“The word that you have spoken to us in the Name of YHWH—we are not listening to you;
17 Anzi del tutto metteremo ad effetto tutte le parole che sono uscite della nostra bocca, per far profumi ed offerte da spandere alla regina del cielo; come e noi, e i nostri padri, e i nostri re, e i nostri principi, abbiam fatto [per lo passato], nelle città di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme; e siemo stati saziati di pane, e siamo stati bene, e non abbiamo sentito alcun male.
for we certainly do everything that has gone out of our mouth, to make incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our heads, in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and—we are satisfied with bread, and we are well, and we have not seen calamity.
18 Là dove, da che siamo restati di far profumi, ed offerte da spandere alla regina del cielo, abbiamo avuto mancamento d'ogni cosa, e siamo stati consumati per la spada, e per la fame.
And from the time we have ceased to make incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, we have lacked all, and we have been consumed by sword and by famine,
19 E quando noi facevamo profumi, ed offerte da spandere alla regina del cielo, le facevamo noi delle focacce, per servirla nella maniera degl'idoli, e dell'offerte da spandere, senza [l'autorità de]'nostri principali?
and when we are making incense to the queen of the heavens, and pouring out drink-offerings to her—have we made cakes for her to idolize her, and to pour out drink-offerings to her, without our husbands?”
20 E Geremia rispose a tutto il popolo, agli uomini, ed alle donne, ed a tutto il popolo che gli avea fatta quella risposta, dicendo:
And Jeremiah says to all the people, concerning the men and concerning the women, and concerning all the people who are answering him, saying,
21 Non si è il Signore ricordato de' profumi, che voi facevate nelle città di Giuda, e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, voi, e i vostri padri, i vostri re, e i vostri principi, e il popolo del paese? ciò non gli [è] egli salito al cuore?
“The incense that you made in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you, and your fathers, your kings, and your heads, and the people of the land, has YHWH not remembered it? Indeed, it comes up on His heart.
22 E il Signore non [l]'ha più potuto comportare, per la malvagità de' vostri fatti, e per le abbominazioni che voi avete commesse; onde il vostro paese è stato messo in desolazione, e in istupore, e in maledizione, senza che vi abiti [più] alcuno; come [si vede] al dì d'oggi.
And YHWH is not able to accept [you] anymore, because of the evil of your doings, because of the abominations that you have done, and your land is for a ruin, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, without inhabitant, as [at] this day.
23 Perciocchè voi avete fatti [que]'profumi, ed avete peccato contro al Signore, e non avete ubbidito alla voce del Signore, e non siete camminati nella sua Legge, e ne' suoi statuti, e nelle sue testimonianze; perciò vi è avvenuto questo male, qual [si vede] al dì d'oggi.
Because that you have made incense, and because you have sinned against YHWH, and have not listened to the voice of YHWH, and have not walked in His law, and in His statutes, and in His testimonies, therefore this calamity has met you as [at] this day.”
24 Poi Geremia disse a tutto il popolo, ed a tutte le donne: O [voi] tutti, [uomini di] Giuda, che [siete] nel paese di Egitto, ascoltate la parola del Signore.
And Jeremiah says to all the people, and to all the women, “Hear a word of YHWH, all Judah who [are] in the land of Egypt:
25 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l'Iddio d'Israele: Voi, e le vostre mogli, avete pronunziato con la bocca ciò che anche avete messo ad effetto con le vostre mani, dicendo: Noi adempieremo pure i nostri voti che abbiam fatti, per far profumi alla regina del cielo, e per farle offerte da spandere. Voi avete adunque adempiuti, e messi ad effetto i vostri voti.
Thus spoke YHWH of Hosts, God of Israel, saying, You and your wives both speak with your mouth, and with your hands have fulfilled, saying, We certainly execute our vows that we have vowed, to make incense to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out drink-offerings to her. You certainly establish your vows, and certainly execute your vows.
26 Perciò, ascoltate la parola del Signore, [voi] tutti [uomini di] Giuda che dimorate nel paese di Egitto; Ecco, io ho giurato per lo mio gran Nome, ha detto il Signore, che il mio Nome non sarà più nominato per la bocca d'alcun Giudeo, che dica in tutto il paese di Egitto: Il Signore Iddio vive.
Therefore, hear a word of YHWH, all Judah who are dwelling in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by My great Name, said YHWH, My Name is no longer proclaimed by the mouth of any man of Judah, saying, Lord YHWH lives—in all the land of Egypt.
27 Ecco, io vegghio contro a loro in male, e non in bene; e tutti gli uomini di Giuda, che [sono] nel paese di Egitto, saranno consumati per la spada, e per la fame; finchè sieno del tutto venuti meno.
Behold, I am watching over them for calamity, and not for good, and all the men of Judah who [are] in the land of Egypt have been consumed by sword and by famine, until their consumption.
28 E quelli che saranno scampati dalla spada ritorneranno dal paese di Egitto nel paese di Giuda, in ben piccol numero; e tutto il rimanente di Giuda, che è entrato in Egitto per dimorarvi, conoscerà la cui parola sarà ferma, la mia, o la loro.
And the escaped of the sword turn back out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number, and all the remnant of Judah, who are coming into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, have known whose word is established, Mine or theirs.
29 E questo vi [sarà] il segno, dice il Signore, che io farò punizione di voi in questo luogo; acciocchè sappiate che le mie parole saranno del tutto messe ad effetto contro a voi in male.
And this [is] the sign to you—a declaration of YHWH—that I am seeing after you in this place, so that you know that My words are certainly established against you for calamity—
30 Così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io do Faraone Ofra, re di Egitto, in man de' suoi nemici, e in man di quelli che cercano l'anima sua; siccome ho dato Sedechia, re di Giuda, in man di Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, suo nemico, e che cercava l'anima sua.
thus said YHWH: Behold, I am giving Pharaoh-Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those seeking his life, as I have given Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and who is seeking his life.”
