Isaia 60

1 LEVATI, sii illuminata; perciocchè la tua luce è venuta, e la gloria del Signore si è levata sopra te.

Arise—shine, For thy light, hath come, —And, the glory of Yahweh, on thee, hath beamed;

2 Perciocchè ecco, le tenebre copriranno la terra, e la caligine [coprirà] i popoli; ma il Signore si leverà sopra te, e la sua gloria apparirà sopra te.

For lo! darkness, covereth the earth, And, deep gloom the peoples, —But, on thee, beameth Yahweh, And, his glory, on thee is seen.

3 E le genti cammineranno alla tua luce, e i re allo splendor [della luce] del tuo levare.

So shall nations come to thy light, And kings to the brightness of thy dawning.

4 Alza gli occhi tuoi d'ogn'intorno, e vedi; tutti costoro si son radunati, [e] son venuti a te; i tuoi figliuoli verran da lontano, e le tue figliuole saran portate sopra i fianchi dalle lor balie.

Lift up—round about—thine eyes and see, They all, have gathered themselves together—have come to thee, —Thy sons, from afar shall come, And thy daughters, on the side, shall be carried.

5 Allora tu riguarderai, e sarai illuminata; e il tuo cuore sbigottirà, e si allargherà; perciocchè la piena del mare sarà rivolta a te, la moltitudine delle nazioni verrà a te.

Then, shalt thou see and be radiant, And thy heart, shall throb and be enlarged, —For there shall be turned upon thee the fulness of the sea, The riches of the nations, shall come unto thee;

6 Stuoli di cammelli ti copriranno, dromedari di Madian, e di Efa; quelli di Seba verranno tutti quanti, porteranno oro, ed incenso; e predicheranno le lodi del Signore.

The multitude of camels, shall cover thee The young camels of Midian and Ephah, All they of Sheba, shall come, —Gold and frankincense, shall they bring, And, the praises of Yahweh, shall they joyfully tell:

7 Tutte le gregge di Chedar si raduneranno appresso di te, i montoni di Nebaiot saranno al tuo servigio; saranno offerti sopra il mio Altare a grado, ed io glorificherò la Casa della mia gloria.

All the flocks of Kedar, shall be gathered unto thee, The rams of Nebaioth, shall wait upon thee, —They shall come up, with acceptance, on mine altar, And my beautiful house, will I adorn.

8 Chi [son] costoro [che] volano come nuvole, e come colombi ai loro sportelli?

Who are these that, As a cloud, do fly? and, As doves to their cotes?

9 Perciocchè le isole mi aspetteranno, e le navi di Tarsis imprima; per ricondurre i tuoi figliuoli di lontano, [ed] insieme con loro il loro argento, e il loro oro, al Nome del Signore Iddio tuo, ed al Santo d'Israele, quando egli ti avrà glorificata.

Surely for me, shall, Coastlands, wait, And the ships of Tarshish first, To bring in thy sons, from far, Their silver and their gold with them, —Unto the name of Yahweh, thy God, And unto the Holy One of Israel Because he hath adorned thee.

10 Ed i figliuoli degli stranieri edificheranno le tue mura, e i loro re ti serviranno; perciocchè, avendoti percossa nella mia indegnazione, io avrò pietà di te nella mia benevolenza.

So shall the sons of the foreigner, build thy walls, And their kings, shall wait upon thee, —For in my vexation, I smote thee, But in my favour, have I had compassion upon thee.

11 Le tue porte ancora saranno del continuo aperte; non saranno serrate nè giorno, nè notte; acciocchè la moltitudine delle genti sia introdotta a te, e che i re loro [ti sieno] menati;

So shall thy gates be open—continually, Neither day nor night, shall they be shut, —That they may bring unto thee the riches of the nations, And their kings, be led.

12 perciocchè la gente, e il regno che non ti serviranno, periranno; tali genti saranno del tutto distrutte.

For, the nation and the kingdom that will not serve thee, shall perish, —Yea the nations, shall be utterly wasted.

13 La gloria del Libano verrà a te; l'abete, e il busso, e il pino insieme; per adornare il luogo del mio santuario, ed affin ch'io renda glorioso il luogo de' miei piedi.

The glory of Lebanon, unto thee, shall come, The fir-tree the holm-oak, and the sherbin-cedar, together, To adorn the place of my sanctuary, And the place of my feet, will I make glorious.

14 Ed i figliuoli di quelli che ti affliggevano verranno a te, chinandosi; e tutti quelli che ti dispettavano si prosterneranno alle piante dei tuoi piedi; e tu sarai nominata: La Città del Signore, Sion del Santo d'Israele.

Then shall come unto thee bending low, The sons of them who had humbled thee, Then shall bow down, unto the soles of thy feet, All they who had despised thee; And they shall call thee—The city of Yahweh, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

15 In vece di ciò che tu sei stata abbandonata, e odiata, e che non [vi era] alcuno che passasse [per mezzo di te], io ti costituirò in altezza eterna, [ed in] gioia per ogni età.

Instead of thy being forsaken and hated so that none used to pass through thee, I will make of thee—An excellency age-abiding, The joy of generation after generation.

16 E tu succerai il latte delle genti, e popperai le mammelle dei re; e conoscerai che io, il Signore, [sono] il tuo Salvatore, e che il Possente di Giacobbe [è] il tuo Redentore.

And thou shalt derive sweet nourishment from the nations, Yea on the bounty of kings, shalt thou be sustained, —So shalt thou know—That, I, Yahweh, am thy Saviour, and That, thy Redeemer, is the Mighty One of Jacob.

17 Io farò venir dell'oro in luogo del rame, e dell'argento in luogo del ferro, e del rame in luogo delle legne, e del ferro in luogo delle pietre; e ti costituirò per prefetti la pace, e per esattori la giustizia.

Instead of bronze, I will bring in, gold, and Instead of iron, I will bring in silver, and Instead of wood, bronze, and Instead of stones, iron, —And I will appoint the oversight of thee to Prosperity, And the setting of thy tasks to Righteousness.

18 Ei non si udirà più violenza nella tua terra; nè guasto, nè fracasso ne' tuoi confini; e chiamerai le tue mura: Salute, e le tue porte: Lode.

Violence, shall no more be heard, in thy land, Wasting nor destruction within thy boundaries, —But thou shalt call Thy walls, Victory, and Thy gates, Praise.

19 Tu non avrai più il sole per la luce del giorno, e lo splendor della luna non ti illuminerà più; ma il Signore ti sarà per luce eterna, e l'Iddio tuo ti [sarà] per gloria.

Thou shalt no more have the sun, for light by day, neither for brightness, shall the moon, give light unto thee, —But Yahweh shall become thine age-abiding light, And thy God thine adorning:

20 Il tuo sole non tramonterà più, e la tua luna non iscemerà [più]; perciocchè il Signore ti sarà per luce eterna, e i giorni del tuo duolo finiranno.

No more shall go in, thy sun, Nor thy moon, withdraw itself, —For, Yahweh, will become to thee an age-abiding light, So shall be ended the days of thy mourning.

21 E quei del tuo popolo [saran] giusti tutti quanti; erederanno la terra in perpetuo; i rampolli che io avrò piantati, l'opera delle mie mani, [saranno] per glorificar me stesso.

And, thy people, shall all of them, be righteous, To times age-abiding, shall they possess, the land, —The sprout of mine own planting, The work of mine own hands, —That I may get myself glory.

22 Il piccolo diventerà un migliaio, ed il minimo una nazione possente. Io, il Signore, metterò prestamente ad effetto questa cosa al suo tempo.

The little one, shall become a thousand, and the small one, a mighty nation: I—Yahweh, in its own season, will hasten it.
