Isaia 2
1 La parola che Isaia, figliuolo di Amos, ebbe in visione, intorno a Giuda ed a Gerusalemme.
The word, which was revealed to Isaiah, the son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 OR avverrà negli ultimi giorni, che il monte della Casa del Signore sarà fermato nel sommo de' monti, e sarà alzato sopra i colli; e tutte le genti concorreranno ad esso.
It shall come to pass in the last days, That the mountain of the house of Jehovah shall be established at the head of the mountains, And exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow unto it.
3 E molti popoli andranno, e diranno: Venite, saliamo al monte del Signore, alla Casa dell'Iddio di Giacobbe; ed egli ci ammaestrerà intorno alle sue vie, e noi cammineremo ne' suoi sentieri; perciocchè la Legge uscirà di Sion, e la Parola del Signore di Gerusalemme.
And many kingdoms shall go, and shall say, “Come, let us go to the mountain of Jehovah, To the house of the God of Jacob, That he may teach us his ways, And that we may walk in his paths!” For from Zion shall go forth a law, And the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.
4 Ed egli farà giudicii fra le genti, e castigamenti sopra molti popoli; ed essi delle loro spade fabbricheranno zappe, e delle lor lance falci; una nazione non alzerà [più] la spada contro all'[altra] nazione, e non impareranno più la guerra.
He shall be a judge of the nations, And an umpire of many kingdoms; And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, And their spears into pruning-hooks; Nation shall not lift up the sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war any more.
5 O casa di Giacobbe, venite, e camminiamo nella luce del Signore.
O house of Jacob, come ye, And let us walk in the light of Jehovah!
6 Perciocchè tu, [Signore], hai abbandonato il tuo popolo, la casa di Giacobbe; perchè son pieni d'Oriente, e [son] pronosticatori come i Filistei; dànno la mano a' figliuoli de' forestieri.
For thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Jacob, Because they are full of the East, And are sorcerers, like the Philistines, And strike hands with a foreign race!
7 E il lor paese si è riempiuto d'argento e d'oro, talchè hanno tesori senza fine; il lor paese si è eziandio riempiuto di cavalli, ed hanno carri senza fine.
Their land is full of silver and gold, And there is no end to their treasures; Their land is full of horses, And there is no end to their chariots;
8 Oltre a ciò, il lor paese si è riempiuto d'idoli; hanno adorata l'opera delle lor mani, ciò che le lor dita hanno fatto.
Their land is full of idols; They bow down to the work of their own hands, To that which their own fingers have made.
9 E la gente vile si è inchinata, e parimente gli uomini onorati si son bassati; perciò non perdonar loro.
Therefore shall the mean man be bowed down, And the great man be brought low; And thou wilt not forgive them!
10 Entra nella roccia, e nasconditi nella polvere, per lo spavento del Signore, e per la gloria della sua altezza.
Go into the rock, hide yourselves in the dust, From the terror of Jehovah, and the glory of his majesty!
11 Gli occhi altieri dell'uomo saranno abbassati, e l'altezza degli uomini sarà depressa; e il Signore solo sarà esaltato in quel giorno.
The proud looks of man shall be humbled, And the loftiness of mortals shall be brought low; Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 Perciocchè [vi è] un giorno del Signore degli eserciti contro ad ogni superbo ed altiero; e contro a chiunque s'innalza; ed egli sarà abbassato;
For Jehovah of hosts holdeth a day of judgment Against all that is proud and lofty; Against all that is exalted, and it shall be brought low;
13 e contro a tutti i cedri alti ed elevati del Libano, e contro a tutte le querce di Basan;
Against all the cedars of Lebanon, the high and the exalted, And against all the oaks of Bashan;
14 e contro a tutti gli alti monti, e contro a tutti i colli elevati;
Against all the lofty mountains, And against all the high hills;
15 e contro ad ogni torre eccelsa, e contro ad ogni muro forte;
Against every lofty tower, And against every high wall;
16 e contro a tutte le navi di Tarsis, e contro a tutti i be' disegni.
Against all the ships of Tarshish, And against all their beautiful flags.
17 E l'altezza degli uomini sarà depressa, e la sublimità degli uomini sarà abbassata; e il Signore solo sarà esaltato in quel giorno.
The pride of man shall be humbled; The loftiness of mortals shall be brought low; Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 Ed egli sterminerà del tutto gl'idoli.
The idols shall wholly pass away;
19 E [gli uomini] entreranno nelle spelonche delle rocce, e nelle grotte della terra, per lo spavento del Signore, e per la gloria della sua altezza, quando egli si leverà per fiaccar la terra.
And men shall go into clefts of the rocks, and caves of the earth, From the terror of Jehovah, and the glory of his majesty, When he ariseth to make the earth tremble.
20 In quel giorno l'uomo gitterà alle talpe, ed a' vipistrelli, gl'idoli del suo argento, e gl'idoli del suo oro, i quali altri gli avrà fatti, per adorarli;
At that time shall men cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, Which they have made to worship, To the moles and the bats;
21 entrando nelle buche delle rocce, e nelle caverne de' sassi, per lo spavento del Signore, e per la gloria della sua altezza, quando egli si leverà per fiaccar la terra.
Fleeing into caves of the rocks, and clefts of the craggy rocks, From the terror of Jehovah, and the glory of his majesty, When he ariseth to make the earth tremble.
22 Rimanetevi di [fidarvi nell]'uomo il cui alito [è] nelle nari; perciocchè, di quanto pregio e valore è egli?
Trust, then, no more in man, Whose breath is in his nostrils! For what account is to be made of him!
