Aggeo 1
1 NELL'anno secondo del re Dario, nel sesto mese, nel primo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore fu [indirizzata], per lo profeta Aggeo, a Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel, governatore di Giuda, ed a Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, dicendo:
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, saying:
2 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Questo popolo ha detto: Il tempo non è ancora venuto, il tempo che la Casa del Signore ha da esser riedificata.
Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: This people! — they have said, 'The time hath not come, The time the house of Jehovah [is] to be built.'
3 E perciò la parola del Signore fu [rivelata] per lo profeta Aggeo, dicendo:
And there is a word of Jehovah by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
4 [È] egli ben tempo per voi di abitar nelle vostre case intavolate, mentre questa Casa [resta] deserta?
Is it time for you — you! To dwell in your covered houses, And this house to lie waste?
5 Ora dunque, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ponete mente alle vie vostre.
And now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Set your heart to your ways.
6 Voi avete seminato assai, ed avete riposto poco; avete mangiato, e non vi siete potuti saziare; avete bevuto, e non vi siete potuti inebbriare; siete stati vestiti, e [niuno] si è potuto riscaldare; e colui che si è messo a servire per prezzo, l'ha fatto [per mettere il suo salario] in un sacco forato.
Ye have sown much, and brought in little, To eat, and not to satiety, To drink, and not to drunkenness, To clothe, and none hath heat, And he who is hiring himself out, Is hiring himself for a bag pierced through.
7 Così ha detto il Signore degli eserciti: Ponete mente alle vie vostre.
Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart to your ways.
8 Salite al monte, e adducetene del legname, ed edificate questa Casa; ed io mi compiacerò in essa, e mi glorificherò, ha detto il Signore.
Go up the mountain, and ye have brought in wood, And build the house, and I am pleased with it. And I am honoured, said Jehovah.
9 Voi avete riguardato ad assai, ed ecco, [ciò si è ridotto] a poco; ed avete menato in casa, ed io ho soffiato sopra. Perchè? dice il Signor degli eserciti. Per la mia Casa, che è deserta; laddove ciascun di voi corre per la sua casa.
Looking for much, and lo, little, And ye brought [it] home, and I blew on it, Wherefore? — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Because of My house that is waste, And ye are running — each to his house,
10 Perciò, il cielo è stato serrato sopra voi, per non [dar] rugiada la terra eziandio ha ristretta la sua rendita.
Therefore, over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath refrained its increase.
11 Ed io ho chiamata la secchezza sopra la terra, e sopra i monti, e sopra il frumento, e sopra il mosto, e sopra l'olio, e sopra [tutto] ciò che la terra produce; e sopra gli uomini, e sopra le bestie, e sopra tutta la fatica delle mani.
And I proclaim draught on the land, And on the mountains, and on the corn, And on the new wine, and on the oil, And on what the ground doth bring forth, And on man, and on beast, And on all labour of the hands.'
12 Or Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel, e Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, e tutto il rimanente del popolo, ubbidirono alla voce del Signore Iddio loro, ed alle parole del profeta Aggeo, secondo che il Signore Iddio loro l'avea mandato; e il popolo temette del Signore.
And Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, do hearken to the voice of Jehovah their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people are afraid of the face of Jehovah.
13 Ed Aggeo, messo del Signore, disse al popolo, per commission del Signore: Io [son] con voi, dice il Signore.
And Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to the people, saying: 'I [am] with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.'
14 Il Signore adunque destò lo spirito di Zorobabel, figliuolo di Sealtiel governatore di Giuda, e lo spirito di Iosua, figliuolo di Iosadac, sommo sacerdote, e lo spirito di tutto il rimanente del popolo; e vennero, e lavorarono intorno alla Casa del Signor degli eserciti, loro Dio.
And Jehovah doth stir up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they come in, and do work in the house of Jehovah of Hosts their God,
15 [Ciò fu] nel ventesimoquarto giorno del sesto mese, nell'anno secondo del re Dario.
in the twenty and fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
