2 Timoteo 4

1 Io adunque [ti] protesto, nel cospetto di Dio, e del Signor Gesù Cristo, il quale ha da giudicare i vivi ed i morti, nella sua apparizione, e nel suo regno,

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing, in his kingdom;

2 che tu predichi la parola, che tu faccia instanza a tempo, e fuor di tempo; riprendi, sgrida, esorta, con ogni pazienza, e dottrina.

preach the word, be instant both in season and out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and instruction.

3 Perciocchè verrà il tempo, che non comporteranno la sana dottrina; ma, pizzicando loro gli orecchi, si accumuleranno dottori, secondo i lor propri appetiti:

For the time will come, when they will not bear sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers after their own hearts:

4 e rivolteranno le orecchie dalla verità, e si volgeranno alle favole.

and turn away their attention from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

5 Ma tu sii vigilante in ogni cosa, soffri afflizioni, fa' l'opera d'evangelista, fa' appieno fede del tuo ministerio.

But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, give full proof of thy ministry.

6 PERCIOCCHÈ, quant'è a me, ad ora son per essere offerto a guisa d'offerta da spandere, e soprastà il tempo della mia tornata a casa.

For I am now going to be sacrificed, and the time of my dissolution is near.

7 Io ho combattuto il buon combattimento, io ho finito il corso, io ho serbata la fede.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith.

8 Nel rimanente, mi è riposta la corona della giustizia, della quale mi farà in quel giorno retribuzione il Signore, il giusto Giudice; e non solo a me, ma a tutti coloro ancora che avranno amata la sua apparizione.

As to what remains, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day: and not to me only, but also to all those who have longed for his appearance.

9 Studiati di venir tosto a me.

Endeavour to come to me soon: for Demas hath forsaken me,

10 Perciocchè Dema mi ha lasciato, avendo amato il presente secolo, e se n'è andato in Tessalonica; Crescente in Galazia, Tito in Dalmazia. (aiōn g165)

through love of this world, and is gone to Thessalonica; as is Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia: Luke only is with me. (aiōn g165)

11 Luca è solo meco; prendi Marco, e menalo teco; perciocchè egli mi è molto utile al ministerio.

Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is useful to me in the ministry.

12 Or io ho mandato Tichico in Efeso.

And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.

13 Quando tu verrai, porta la cappa che io ho lasciata in Troade, appresso di Carpo; ed i libri, principalmente le pergamene.

When thou comest, bring with thee the cloke, that I left at Troas with Carpus; and the books, but especially the parchments.

14 Alessandro, il fabbro di rame, mi ha fatto del male assai; gli renderà il Signore secondo le sue opere.

Alexander the brazier did me many ill turns: the Lord will reward him according to his deeds.

15 Da esso ancora tu guardati; perciocchè egli ha grandemente contrastato alle nostre parole.

Of whom do thou also beware: for he hath greatly opposed our doctrine.

16 Niuno si è trovato meco nella mia prima difesa; ma tutti mi hanno abbandonato; non sia loro imputato.

In my first defence no one stood by me, but all men forsook me: God grant it may not be laid to their charge!

17 Ma il Signore è stato meco, e mi ha fortificato; acciocchè la predicazione fosse per me appieno accertata, e che tutti i Gentili [l]'udissero; ed io sono stato liberato dalla gola del leone.

But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 E il Signore mi libererà ancora da ogni mala opera e mi salverà, [e] raccorrà nel suo regno celeste. A lui [sia] la gloria ne' secoli de' secoli. Amen. (aiōn g165)

And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory throughout all ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the family of Onesiphorus.

20 Erasto è rimasto in Corinto, ed io ho lasciato Trofimo infermo in Mileto.

Erastus staid at Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick at Miletus.

21 Studiati di venire avanti il verno. Eubulo, e Pudente, e Lino, e Claudia, e tutti i fratelli ti salutano.

Endeavour therefore to come to me before winter. Eubulus saluteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and indeed all the brethren.

22 [Sia] il Signor Gesù Cristo con lo spirito tuo. La grazia [sia] con voi. Amen.

The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you all. Amen.
