2 Samuele 3
1 Or la guerra fu lunga fra la casa di Saulle e la casa di Davide. Ma Davide si andava fortificando, e la casa di Saulle si andava indebolendo.
And the war is long between the house of Saul and the house of David, and David is going on and [is] strong, and the house of Saul are going on and [are] weak.
2 ED a Davide nacquero figliuoli in Hebron; e il suo primogenito [fu] Ammon, di Ahinoam Izreelita;
And there are born to David sons in Hebron, and his first-born is Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,
3 e il suo secondo [fu] Chileab, di Abigail [che era stata] moglie di Nabal da Carmel; e il terzo [fu] Absalom, figliuolo di Maaca, figliuola di Talmai, re di Ghesur;
and his second [is] Chileab, of Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite, and the third [is] Absalom son of Maacah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur,
4 e il quarto [fu] Adonia, figliuolo di Hagghit; e il quinto [fu] Sefatia, figliuolo di Abital.
and the fourth [is] Adonijah son of Haggith, and the fifth [is] Shephatiah son of Abital,
5 E il sesto [fu] Itream, figliuolo di Egla, donna di Davide. Questi nacquero a Davide in Hebron.
and the sixth [is] Ithream, of Eglah wife of David; these have been born to David in Hebron.
6 ORA, mentre durò la guerra fra la casa di Saulle e la casa di Davide, Abner si fece potente nella casa di Saulle.
And it cometh to pass, in the war being between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner hath been strengthening himself in the house of Saul,
7 Or Saulle avea avuta una concubina, il cui nome [era] Rispa, figliuola di Aia. E Isboset disse ad Abner: Perchè sei tu entrato dalla concubina di mio padre?
and Saul hath a concubine, and her name [is] Rizpah daughter of Aiah, and [Ish-Bosheth] saith unto Abner, 'Wherefore hast thou gone in unto the concubine of my father?'
8 Ed Abner si adirò forte per le parole d'Isboset, e disse: [Son] io la testa di un cane, io che uso oggi benignità inverso la casa di Saulle, tuo padre, [ed] inverso i suoi fratelli ed amici, contro a Giuda, e non ti ho dato nelle mani di Davide, che tu mi ricerchi oggi per questa donna, [come per un] misfatto?
And it is displeasing to Abner exceedingly, because of the words of Ish-Bosheth, and he saith, 'The head of a dog [am] I — that in reference to Judah to-day I do kindness with the house of Saul thy father, unto his brethren, and unto his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David — that thou chargest against me iniquity concerning the woman to-day?
9 Così faccia Iddio ad Abner, e così gli aggiunga, se io non fo a Davide, secondo che il Signore gli ha giurato,
thus doth God to Abner, and thus He doth add to him, surely as Jehovah hath sworn to David — surely so I do to him:
10 trasportando il reame fuor della casa di Saulle, e fermando il trono di Davide sopra Israele, e sopra Giuda, da Dan fino in Beerseba.
to cause the kingdom to pass over from the house of Saul, and to raise up the throne of David over Israel, and over Judah, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba.'
11 Ed [Isboset] non potè più risponder nulla ad Abner, per la tema ch'egli avea di lui.
And he is not able any more to turn back Abner a word, because of his fearing him.
12 Ed Abner mandò in quello stante dei messi a Davide, a dirgli: A cui [appartiene] il paese? [Ed anche] per dirgli: Patteggia meco, ed ecco, io mi giugnerò teco, per rivolgere a te tutto Israele.
And Abner sendeth messengers unto David for himself, saying, 'Whose [is] the land?' saying, 'Make thy covenant with me, and lo, my hand [is] with thee, to bring round unto thee all Israel.'
13 E [Davide] disse: Bene [sta]; io patteggerò teco; sol ti chieggio una cosa, cioè, che tu non mi venga davanti, che prima tu non mi rimeni Mical, figliuola di Saulle, quando tu verrai per presentarti a me.
And he saith, 'Good — I make with thee a covenant; only, one thing I am asking of thee, that is, Thou dost not see my face, except thou dost first bring in Michal, daughter of Saul in thy coming into see my face.'
14 Davide ancora mandò ambasciadori a Isboset, figliuolo di Saulle, a dirgli: Dammi Mical, mia moglie, la quale io mi sposai per cento prepuzii de' Filistei.
And David sendeth messengers unto Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, saying, 'Give up my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself with a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.'
15 Ed Isboset mandò a torla d'appresso a Paltiel, figliuolo di Lais, suo marito.
And Ish-Bosheth sendeth, and taketh her from a man, from Phaltiel son of Laish,
16 E il marito di essa andò con lei, seguitandola e piangendo fino a Bahurim. Poi Abner gli disse: Va', ritornatene. Ed egli se ne ritornò.
and her husband goeth with her, going on and weeping behind her, unto Bahurim, and Abner saith unto him, 'Go, turn back;' and he turneth back.
17 Or Abner tenne ragionamento con gli Anziani d'Israele, dicendo: Per addietro voi avete procacciato [che] Davide [fosse] re sopra voi;
And the word of Abner was with the elders of Israel, saying, 'Heretofore ye have been seeking David for king over you,
18 ora dunque, fate, perciocchè il Signore ha parlato intorno a Davide, dicendo: Per la mano di Davide, mio servitore, io salverò il mio popolo Israele dalla mano de' Filistei, e dalla mano di tutti i loro nemici.
and now, do [it], for Jehovah hath spoken of David saying, By the hand of David my servant — to save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'
19 Abner parlò eziandio co' Beniaminiti. Poi andò ancora in Hebron, per fare intendere a Davide tutto ciò che parea buono ad Israele, ed a tutta la casa di Beniamino.
And Abner speaketh also in the ears of Benjamin, and Abner goeth also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that [is] good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of all the house of Benjamin,
20 Abner adunque venne a Davide in Hebron, avendo seco vent'uomini. E Davide fece un convito ad Abner, e agli uomini che [erano] con lui.
and Abner cometh in unto David, to Hebron, and with him twenty men, and David maketh for Abner, and for the men who [are] with him, a banquet.
21 Poi Abner disse a Davide: Io mi leverò, ed andrò, e raunerò tutto Israele appresso al re, mio signore, acciocchè patteggino teco, e che tu regni interamente a tua volontà. E Davide diede commiato ad Abner; ed egli se ne andò in pace.
And Abner saith unto David, 'I arise, and go, and gather unto my lord the king the whole of Israel, and they make with thee a covenant, and thou hast reigned over all that thy soul desireth;' and David sendeth away Abner, and he goeth in peace.
22 Or ecco, la gente di Davide e Ioab tornavano d'una correria, e portavano con loro una gran preda. Ed Abner non [era più] con Davide in Hebron; perciocchè egli gli avea dato commiato, ed egli se n'era andato in pace.
And lo, the servants of David, and Joab, have come from the troop, and much spoil have brought with them, and Abner is not with David in Hebron, for he hath sent him away, and he goeth in peace;
23 E quando Ioab fu ritornato, con tutto l'esercito ch'[era] con lui, [alcuni] rapportarono a Ioab [il fatto], dicendo: Abner, figliuolo di Ner, è venuto al re, ed egli gli ha dato commiato,
and Joab and all the host that [is] with him have come, and they declare to Joab, saying, 'Abner son of Ner hath come unto the king, and he sendeth him away, and he goeth in peace.'
24 ed egli se n'è andato in pace. E Ioab venne al re, e disse: Che hai fatto? ecco, Abner era venuto a te; e perchè l'hai lasciato andare, sì ch'egli se n'è andato liberamente?
And Joab cometh unto the king, and saith, 'What hast thou done? lo, Abner hath come unto thee! why [is] this — thou hast sent him away, and he is really gone?
25 Conosci tu bene Abner, figliuolo di Ner? Certo, egli è venuto per ingannarti, e per conoscere i tuoi andamenti, e per saper tutto quello che tu fai.
Thou hast known Abner son of Ner, that to deceive thee he came, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou art doing.'
26 E Ioab uscì d'appresso a Davide, e mandò messi dietro ad Abner, i quali lo ricondussero dalla fossa di Sira, senza che Davide ne sapesse [nulla].
And Joab goeth out from David, and sendeth messengers after Abner, and they bring him back from the well of Sirah, and David knew not.
27 E come Abner fu ritornato in Hebron, Ioab lo tirò da parte dentro della porta, per parlargli in segreto; e quivi lo ferì nella quinta [costa], ed egli morì, per cagion del sangue di Asael, fratello di Ioab.
And Abner turneth back to Hebron, and Joab turneth him aside unto the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smiteth him there in the fifth [rib] — and he dieth — for the blood of Asahel his brother.
28 E Davide, avendo dipoi udita [la cosa], disse: Io e il mio regno [siamo] innocenti appo il Signore, in perpetuo, del sangue di Abner, figliuolo di Ner.
And David heareth afterwards and saith, 'Acquitted [am] I, and my kingdom, by Jehovah, unto the age, from the blood of Abner son of Ner;
29 Dimori quello sopra il capo di Ioab, e sopra tutta la casa di suo padre; e non avvenga giammai che nella casa di Ioab manchi uomo che abbia la colagione, o che sia lebbroso, o che si appoggi al bastone, o che muoia di spada, o che abbia mancamento di pane.
it doth stay on the head of Joab, and on all the house of his father, and there is not cut off from the house of Joab one having an issue, and leprous, and laying hold on a staff, and falling by a sword, and lacking bread.'
30 Così Ioab, e Abisai, suo fratello, uccisero Abner; perciocchè egli avea ammazzato Asael, lor fratello, presso a Gabaon, in battaglia.
And Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner because that he put to death Asahel their brother, in Gibeon, in battle.
31 E Davide disse a Ioab, e a tutto il popolo ch'[era] seco: Stracciatevi i vestimenti, e cignetevi di sacchi, e fate duolo, [andando] davanti ad Abner. E il re Davide andava dietro alla bara.
And David saith unto Joab, and unto all the people who [are] with him, 'Rend your garments, and gird on sackcloth, and mourn before Abner;' and king David is going after the bier.
32 Ed Abner fu seppellito in Hebron. E il re alzò la voce, e pianse presso alla sepoltura di Abner; tutto il popolo ancora pianse.
And they bury Abner in Hebron, and the king lifteth up his voice, and weepeth at the grave of Abner, and all the people weep;
33 E il re fece un lamento sopra Abner, e disse: Abner deve egli esser morto, come muore un uomo da nulla?
and the king lamenteth for Abner, and saith: — 'As the death of a fool doth Abner die?
34 Le tue mani non erano legate, e i tuoi piedi non erano stati messi ne' ceppi; Tu sei morto come altri muore per mano d'uomini scellerati.
Thy hands not bound, And thy feet to fetters not brought nigh! As one falling before sons of evil — Thou hast fallen!' and all the people add to weep over him.
35 E tutto il popolo da capo fece duolo sopra Abner. Poi tutto il popolo venne per far prender cibo a Davide, mentre [era] ancora giorno. Ma Davide giurò, e disse: Così mi faccia Iddio, e così aggiunga, se io assaggio pane, o cosa altra veruna, avanti che il sole sia tramontato.
And all the people come to cause David to eat bread while yet day, and David sweareth, saying, 'Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add, for — before the going in of the sun, I taste no bread or any other thing.'
36 E tutto il popolo riconobbe [la verità del fatto], e [la cosa] gli piacque: tutto quello che il re fece aggradì al popolo.
And all the people have discerned [it], and it is good in their eyes, as all that the king hath done is good in the eyes of all the people;
37 E tutto il popolo e tutto Israele, conobbe in quel dì che non era proceduto dal re il far morire Abner, figliuolo di Ner.
and all the people know, even all Israel, in that day, that it hath not been from the king — to put to death Abner son of Ner.
38 E il re disse a' suoi servitori: Non riconoscete voi che un capitano, eziandio grande, è oggi morto in Israele?
And the king saith unto his servants, 'Do ye not know that a prince and a great one hath fallen this day in Israel?
39 Ma oggi, benchè io [sia] unto re, pur non sono ancora bene stabilito; e questi uomini, figliuoli di Seruia, [son] troppo violenti per me. Faccia il Signore la retribuzione a colui che ha fatto il male, secondo la sua malvagità.
and I to-day [am] tender, and an anointed king: and these men, sons of Zeruiah, [are] too hard for me; Jehovah doth recompense to the doer of the evil according to his evil.'
