2 Samuele 23
1 ORA queste [son] le ultime parole di Davide: Davide, figliuolo d'Isai, dice; Anzi l'uomo [che è] stato costituito in alta dignità, L'Unto dell'Iddio di Giacobbe, E il componitore delle soavi canzoni d'Israele, dice:
And these [are] the last words of David: “A declaration of David son of Jesse, And a declaration of the man raised up—Concerning the anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweetness of the songs of Israel:
2 Lo Spirito del Signore ha parlato per me, E la sua parola [è stata] sopra la mia lingua.
The Spirit of YHWH has spoken by me, And His word [is] on my tongue.
3 L'Iddio d'Israele ha detto; La Rocca d'Israele mi ha parlato, [dicendo]; Chi signoreggia sopra gli uomini, [sia] giusto, Signoreggiando [nel] timor di Dio.
He said—the God of Israel—to me, He spoke—the Rock of Israel: He who is ruling over man [is] righteous, He is ruling in the fear of God.
4 Ed [egli sarà] come la luce della mattina, quando il sole si leva; Di una mattina senza nuvole; [Come] l'erba [che nasce] dalla terra per lo sole, [e] per la pioggia.
And he rises as the light of morning, A morning sun [with] no clouds! By the shining, by the rain, Tender grass of the earth!
5 Benchè la mia casa non [sarà] così appo Iddio; Perciocchè egli ha fatto meco un patto eterno Perfettamente bene ordinato ed osservato; Conciossiachè tutta la mia salute, e tutto il [mio] piacere [sia], Ch'egli non [lo] farà rigermogliare.
For though my house [is] not so with God; So He made a perpetual covenant with me, Arranged in all things, and kept; For all my salvation, and all desire, For He has not caused [it] to spring up.
6 Ma gli uomini scellerati tutti quanti [saranno] gittati via, Come spine che non si prendono con la mano;
As for the worthless—All of them [are] driven away as a thorn, For they are not taken away by hand;
7 Anzi, chi vuol maneggiarle impugna del ferro, od un'asta di lancia; Ovvero, son del tutto bruciate col fuoco in su la pianta.
And the man who comes against them Is filled with iron and the staff of a spear, And they are utterly burned with fire In the cessation.”
8 QUESTI [sono] i nomi degli [uomini] prodi di Davide: Colui che sedeva nel seggio, il Tacmonita, [era] il principale de' colonnelli. Esso [era] Adino Eznita, [il quale] in una volta [andò] sopra ottocent'uomini, e li sconfisse.
These [are] the names of the mighty ones whom David has: sitting in the seat [is] the Tachmonite, head of the captains—he [is] Adino, who hardened himself against eight hundred—wounded at one time.
9 E, dopo lui, [era] Eleazaro, figliuolo di Dodo, figliuolo di Ahohi. Costui [era] fra i tre prodi [ch'erano] con Davide, allora che sfidarono i Filistei, che si erano quivi adunati in battaglia, e che gl'Israeliti si ritrassero.
And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, of the three mighty men with David; in their exposing themselves among the Philistines—they have been gathered there to battle, and the men of Israel go up—
10 Costui si levò, e percosse i Filistei, finchè la sua mano fu stanca, e restò attaccata alla spada. E il Signore diede una gran vittoria in quel dì; e il popolo ritornò dietro a Eleazaro, solo per ispogliare.
he has arisen, and strikes among the Philistines until his hand has been weary, and his hand cleaves to the sword, and YHWH works a great salvation on that day, and the people turn back after him only to strip off.
11 E, dopo lui, Samma, figliuolo di Aghe, Hararita. Essendosi i Filistei adunati in una stuolo, [in un luogo] dove era un campo pieno di lenti, ed essendosi il popolo messo in fuga d'innanzi a' Filistei,
And after him [is] Shammah son of Agee the Hararite, and the Philistines are gathered into a company, and there is a portion of the field full of lentils there, and the people have fled from the presence of the Philistines,
12 costui si presentò in mezzo del campo, e lo riscosse, e percosse i Filistei. E il Signore diede una gran vittoria.
and he stations himself in the midst of the portion, and delivers it, and strikes the Philistines, and YHWH works a great salvation.
13 Ora [questi] tre capi de' colonnelli vennero a Davide, al tempo della ricolta, nella spelonca di Adullam. Ed allora lo stuolo de' Filistei era accampato nella valle de' Rafei.
And three of the thirty heads go down and come to the harvest, to David, to the cave of Adullam, and the company of the Philistines are encamping in the Valley of Rephaim,
14 E Davide [era] allora nella fortezza; ed in quel tempo i Filistei aveano guernigione in Bet-lehem.
and David [is] then in a fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,
15 E Davide fu mosso di desiderio, e disse: Chi mi darà da bere dell'acqua della cisterna di Bet-lehem, ch'[è] alla porta?
and David longs and says, “Who gives me a drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate?”
16 E [que]'tre prodi penetrarono nel campo de'Filistei, e attinsero dell'acqua dalla cisterna di Bet-lehem, ch'[è] alla porta; e la portarono, e la presentarono a Davide; ma egli non volle berne, anzi la sparse al Signore,
And the three mighty ones cleave through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water out of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate, and take [it] up, and bring [it] to David; and he was not willing to drink it, and pours it out to YHWH,
17 e disse: Togli da me, Signore, che io faccia questo; [berrei] io il sangue di questi uomini che sono andati [là] al rischio della lor vita? E non volle ber quell'[acqua]. Queste cose fecero [que]'tre prodi.
and says, “Far be it from me, O YHWH, to do this; is it the blood of the men who are going with their lives?” And he was not willing to drink it; the three mighty ones did these [things].
18 Abisai anch'esso, fratello di Ioab, figliuolo di Seruia, era capo fra [altri] tre. Costui eziandio vibrò la sua lancia contro a trecent' [uomini], e li uccise; onde egli acquistò fama fra que' tre;
And Abishai brother of Joab, son of Zeruiah, he [is] head of three, and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, and he has a name among three.
19 fra i quali certo egli fu il più illustre, e fu lor capo; ma non pervenne a quegli [altri] tre.
Is he not the honored of the three? And he becomes their head; and he has not come to the [first] three.
20 Poi [vi era] Benaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, figliuol d'un uomo valoroso; [il qual Benaia] fece di gran prodezze, [ed era] da Cabseel. Costui percosse i due Ariel di Moab; discese ancora, e percosse un leone in mezzo di una fossa, al tempo della neve.
And Benaiah son of Jehoiada (son of a man of valor, great in deeds from Kabzeel), has struck two lion-like men of Moab, and he has gone down and struck the lion in the midst of the pit in a day of snow.
21 Egli percosse ancora un uomo Egizio, [ch'era] ragguardevole, ed avea in mano una lancia; ma [Benaia] discese contro a lui con un bastone, e gli strappò la lancia di mano, e l'uccise con la sua [propria] lancia.
And he has struck the Egyptian man, a man of appearance, and a spear [is] in the hand of the Egyptian, and he goes down to him with a rod, and takes the spear violently away out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slays him with his own spear.
22 Queste cose fece Banaia, figliuolo di Ioiada, e fu famoso fra quei tre prodi.
Benaiah son of Jehoiada has done these [things], and has a name among the three mighty ones.
23 Egli fu illustre sopra i trenta; ma pure non pervenne a que' tre. E Davide lo costituì sopra [la gente ch'egli avea del continuo] a suo comando.
He is honored more than the thirty, but he did not come to the three; and David sets him over his guard.
24 [Poi vi era] Asael, fratello di Ioab, [ch'era] sopra questi trenta, [cioè: ] Elhanaan, figliuolo di Dodo, da Bet-lehem;
Asahel brother of Joab [is] of the thirty; Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,
25 Samma Harodita, Elica Harodita;
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26 Heles Paltita; Ira, figliuolo d'Icches, Tecoita;
Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27 Abiezer Anatotita, Mebunnai Husatita;
Abiezer the Annethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
28 Salmon Ahohita, Maharai Netofatita;
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29 Heleb, figliuolo di Baana, Netofatita; Ittai, figliuolo di Ribai, da Ghibea de' figliuoli di Beniamino;
Heleb son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin,
30 Benaia Piratonita, Hiddai dalle valli di Gaas;
Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
31 Abi-albon Arbatita, Azmavet Barhumita;
Abi-Albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
32 Elihaba Saalbonita, Gionatan de' figliuoli di Iasen;
Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
33 Samma Hararita; Ahiam figliuolo di Sarar, Ararita;
Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam son of Sharar the Hararite,
34 Elifelet, figliuolo di Ahasbai, figliuolo di un Maacatita; Eliam, figliuolo di Ahitofel, Ghilonita;
Eliphelet son of Ahasbai, son of the Maachathite, Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35 Hesrai Carmelita, Parai Arbita;
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
36 Igheal, figliuolo di Natan, da Soba; Bani Gadita;
Igal son of Nathan from Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
37 Selec Ammonita; Naarai Beerotita, il quale portava le armi di Ioab, figliuolo di Seruia;
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, bearer of the weapons of Joab son of Zeruiah,
38 Ira Itrita, Gareb Itrita;
Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
39 Uria Hitteo; in tutto trentasette.
Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
