2 Cronache 16

1 L'ANNO trentesimosesto del regno di Asa, Baasa, re d'Israele, salì contro a Giuda, ed edificò Rama, per non lasciar nè uscire nè entrare alcuno ad Asa, re di Giuda.

In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel has come up against Judah, and builds Ramah, so as not to permit any going out and coming in to Asa king of Judah.

2 Laonde Asa trasse fuori argento, ed oro, da' tesori dalla Casa del Signore, e della casa reale, e [lo] mandò a Benhadad, re di Siria, il quale abitava in Damasco, dicendo:

And Asa brings out silver and gold from the treasures of the house of YHWH and of the house of the king, and sends [them] to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who is dwelling in Damascus, saying,

3 [Siavi] lega fra me e te [come è stata] fra tuo padre e mio padre; ecco, io ti mando oro ed argento; va', rompi la lega che tu hai con Baasa, re d'Israele, acciocchè egli si ritragga da me.

“A covenant [is] between me and you, and between my father and your father, behold, I have sent silver and gold to you; go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he goes up from off me.”

4 E Benhadad acconsentì al re Asa, e mandò i capitani de' suoi eserciti contro alle città d'Israele; ed essi percossero Ion, e Dan, ed Abel-maim, e tutte le città da magazzini di Neftali.

And Ben-Hadad listens to King Asa, and sends the heads of the forces that he has to cities of Israel, and they strike Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-Maim, and all the stores, cities of Naphtali.

5 E quando Baasa ebbe [ciò] inteso, restò d'edificar Rama, e fece cessare il suo lavoro.

And it comes to pass, at Baasha’s hearing, that he ceases from building Ramah, and lets his work rest;

6 Allora il re Asa prese tutto [il popolo di] Giuda; ed essi portarono via le pietre e il legname di Rama, la quale Baasa edificava; ed egli ne edificò Ghibea e Mispa.

and Asa the king has taken all Judah, and they carry away the stones of Ramah and its wood that Baasha has built [with], and he builds Geba and Mizpah with them.

7 Ed in quel tempo il veggente Hanani venne ad Asa, re di Giuda, e gli disse: Perciocchè tu ti sei appoggiato sopra il re di Siria, e non ti sei appoggiato sopra il Signore Iddio tuo, per ciò l'esercito del re di Siria ti è scampato dalle mani.

And at that time Hanani the seer has come to Asa king of Judah and says to him, “Because of your leaning on the king of Aram, and you have not leaned on your God YHWH, therefore the force of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.

8 Gli Etiopi ed i Libii non erano essi un grande esercito, con grandissimo numero di carri e di cavalieri? e pure, perchè tu ti appoggiasti sopra il Signore, egli te li diede nelle mani.

Did the Cushim and the Lubim not become a very great force for multitude, for chariot, and for horsemen? And in your leaning on YHWH He gave them into your hand,

9 Conciossiachè gli occhi del Signore corrano per tutta la terra, per mostrarsi potente in favor di coloro che hanno il cuore intiero inverso lui; tu hai follemente fatto in questa cosa; perciocchè da ora innanzi tu avrai [sempre] guerre.

for YHWH—His eyes go to and fro in all the earth, to show Himself strong [for] a people whose heart [is] perfect toward Him; you have been foolish concerning this, because from now on there are wars with you.”

10 Ed Asa s'indegnò contro al veggente, e lo fece incarcerare; perciocchè [era] in gran cruccio contro a lui per ciò. Asa ancora oppressò in quel tempo [alcuni] del popolo.

And Asa is angry at the seer, and puts him [in] the house of stocks, for [he is] in a rage with him for this; and Asa oppresses [some] of the people at that time.

11 Or ecco, i fatti di Asa, primi ed ultimi, sono scritti nel libro dei re di Giuda e d'Israele.

And behold, the matters of Asa, the first and the last, behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Judah and Israel.

12 Ed Asa, l'anno trentanovesimo del suo regno, infermò de' piedi, e la sua infermità [fu] strema, e pure ancora nella sua infermità egli non ricercò il Signore, anzi i medici.

And Asa is diseased—in the thirty-ninth year of his reign—in his feet, until his disease is excessive; and also in his disease he has not sought YHWH, but among physicians.

13 Ed Asa giacque co' suoi padri, e morì l'anno quarantunesimo del suo regno;

And Asa lies with his fathers, and dies in the forty-first year of his reign,

14 e fu seppellito nella sua sepoltura, la quale egli si avea cavata nella Città di Davide; e fu posto in un cataletto che egli avea empiuto d'aromati, e d'odori composti per arte di profumiere; e gliene fu arsa una grandissima quantità.

and they bury him in [one of] his graves that he had prepared for himself in the City of David, and they cause him to lie on a bed that [one] has filled [with] spices, and various kinds of mixtures, with perfumed work; and they burn a very great burning for him.
