1 Samuele 9
1 OR v'era un uomo di Beniamino, prode e valoroso, il cui nome [era] Chis, figliuolo di Abiel, figliuolo di Seror, figliuolo di Becorat, figliuolo di Afia, figliuolo di un uomo Beniaminita.
And there is a man of Benjamin, and his name [is] Kish, son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Bechorath, son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor,
2 Ed esso avea un figliuolo, il cui nome [era] Saulle, giovane e bello; e non [v'era] alcuno fra i figliuoli d'Israele più bello di lui; egli [era] più alto che niuno del popolo dalle spalle in su.
and he has a son, and his name [is] Saul, a choice youth and handsome, and there is not a man among the sons of Israel more handsome than he—from his shoulder and upward, higher than any of the people.
3 Or le asine di Chis, padre di Saulle, si smarrirono. E Chis disse a Saulle, suo figliuolo: Deh! piglia teco uno de' servitori, e levati, e va' a cercar le asine.
And the donkeys of Kish, father of Saul, are lost, and Kish says to his son Saul, “Now take one of the young men with you, and rise, go, seek the donkeys.”
4 Egli adunque passò nel monte di Efraim, e poi nella contrada di Salisa; ma essi non [le] trovarono; poi passarono nella contrada di Saalim, ma non [v'erano]; passarono eziandio nel paese de' Beniaminiti, ma non le trovarono.
And he passes over through the hill-country of Ephraim, and passes over through the land of Shalisha, and they have not found [them]; and they pass over through the land of Shaalim, and they are not; and he passes over through the land of Benjamin, and they have not found [them].
5 Quando furono giunti alla contrada di Suf, Saulle disse al suo servitore, ch'egli [avea] seco: Or su ritorniamcene; che talora mio padre, lasciata [la cura del]le asine, non sia in sollecitudine di noi.
They have come to the land of Zuph, and Saul has said to his young man who [is] with him, “Come, and we return, lest my father leave off from the donkeys, and has been sorrowful for us.”
6 Ma egli gli disse: Ecco ora, un uomo di Dio [è] in questa città, il quale [è] uomo onorato; tutto quello ch'egli dice avviene senza fallo; ora andiamvi; forse egli ci farà chiari di ciò perchè ci siam messi in cammino.
And he says to him, “Now behold, a man of God [is] in this city, and the man is honored; all that he speaks certainly comes; now, we go there, it may be he declares to us our way on which we have gone.”
7 E Saulle disse al suo servitore: Ma ecco, se noi vi andiamo, che porteremo a quell'uomo? conciossiachè la vittuaglia ci sia venuta meno nelle tasche, e non abbiamo alcun presente da portare all'uomo di Dio; [che abbiamo] appresso di noi?
And Saul says to his young man, “And behold, we go, and what do we bring to the man? For the bread has gone from our vessels, and there is no present to bring to the man of God—what [is] with us?”
8 E il servitore rispose di nuovo a Saulle, e disse: Ecco, io mi trovo in mano un quarto d'un siclo d'argento; io lo darò all'uomo di Dio, ed egli ci farà chiari di ciò perchè ci siam messi in cammino.
And the young man adds to answer Saul and says, “Behold, there is found a fourth of a shekel of silver with me: and I have given to the man of God, and he has declared our way to us.”
9 (Anticamente in Israele, quando alcuno andava per domandare Iddio, diceva così: Or andiamo fino al Veggente; perciocchè in quel tempo [quel che si chiama] oggi profeta, si chiamava il Veggente.)
Formerly in Israel, thus said the man in his going to seek God: “Come and we go to the seer.” For the “prophet” of today is formerly called “the seer.”
10 E Saulle disse al suo servitore: Ben dici; or andiamo. Essi adunque andarono alla città, nella quale [era] l'uomo di Dio.
And Saul says to his young man, “Your word [is] good; come, we go”; and they go to the city where the man of God [is].
11 Mentre essi salivano per la salita della città, trovarono delle fanciulle che uscivano per attigner dell'acqua, e dissero loro: Il Veggente è egli quivi?
They are going up in the ascent of the city, and have found young women going out to draw water, and say to them, “Is the seer in this [place]?”
12 E quelle risposero loro, e dissero: [Egli v'] è: eccolo davanti a te, affrettati pure; perciocchè egli è oggi venuto nella città, perchè il popolo [fa] oggi un sacrificio nell'alto luogo.
And they answer them and say, “He is; behold, before you! Hurry, now, for he has come to the city today, for the people [have] a sacrifice today in a high place.
13 Quando voi giungerete nella città, voi lo troverete di certo, avanti ch'egli salga all'alto luogo a mangiare; perciocchè il popolo non mangerà, ch'egli non sia venuto; conciossiachè egli abbia da benedire il convito; poi appresso gli invitati mangeranno. Ora dunque salite; perciocchè appunto ora lo troverete.
At your going into the city so you find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people do not eat until his coming, for he blesses the sacrifice; afterward, they who are called eat, and now, go up, for you should find him at this time.”
14 Essi adunque salirono alla città; e, come furono giunti nel mezzo della città, ecco, Samuele usciva loro incontro, per salire all'alto luogo.
And they go up to the city; they are coming into the midst of the city, and behold, Samuel is coming out to meet them, to go up to the high place;
15 Or il Signore, un giorno innanzi che Saulle venisse, avea rivelato e detto a Samuele:
and YHWH had uncovered the ear of Samuel one day before the coming of Saul, saying,
16 Domani, a quest'ora, io ti manderò un uomo del paese di Beniamino, il quale tu ungerai per conduttore sopra il mio popolo Israele; ed egli salverà il mio popolo dalla mano de' Filistei; perciocchè io ho riguardato al mio popolo; conciossiachè il suo grido sia pervenuto a me.
“At this time tomorrow, I send to you a man out of the land of Benjamin—and you have anointed him for leader over My people Israel, and he has saved My people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen My people, for its cry has come to Me.”
17 E, quando Samuele ebbe veduto Saulle, il Signore gli disse: Ecco quell'uomo, del quale io t'ho parlato; costui signoreggerà sopra il mio popolo.
When Samuel has seen Saul, then YHWH has answered him, “Behold, the man of whom I have spoken to you; this [one] restrains My people.”
18 E Saulle, accostatosi a Samuele dentro della porta, gli disse: Deh! mostrami ove [è] la casa del Veggente.
And Saul draws near to Samuel in the midst of the gate and says, “Please declare to me where this seer’s house [is].”
19 E Samuele rispose a Saulle, e disse: Io [sono] il Veggente; sali davanti a me all'alto luogo, e voi mangerete oggi meco; poi domattina io vi accommiaterò, ed io ti dichiarerò tutto quello che tu hai nel cuore.
And Samuel answers Saul and says, “I [am] the seer; go up before me into the high place, and you have eaten with me today, and I have sent you away in the morning, and all that [is] in your heart I declare to you.
20 E intorno alle asine, che ti si smarrirono, oggi ha tre dì, non istarne in pensiero; perciocchè si son trovate. Ma inverso cui [è] tutto il desiderio d'Israele? non è egli inverso te, e inverso tutta la casa di tuo padre?
And as for the donkeys which are lost from you [for] three days as of today, do not set your heart to them, for they have been found; and to whom [is] all the desire of Israel? Is it not to you and to all your father’s house?”
21 E Saulle rispose, e disse: Non [sono] io di Beniamino, [ch'è una] delle più piccole tribù d'Israele? e la mia nazione [non è ella] la più piccola di tutte le nazioni della tribù di Beniamino? perchè dunque mi tieni cotali ragionamenti?
And Saul answers and says, “Am I not a Benjamite—of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? And why have you spoken to me according to this word?”
22 E Samuele prese Saulle, e il suo servitore, e li menò dentro alla sala, e diede loro luogo in capo [di tavola] fra gl'invitati, ch' [erano] intorno a trenta persone.
And Samuel takes Saul, and his young man, and brings them into the chamber, and gives a place to them at the head of those called; and they [are] about thirty men.
23 E Samuele disse al cuoco: Reca qua quella parte, la quale io ti diedi, della quale io ti dissi: Riponila appresso di te.
And Samuel says to the cook, “Give the portion which I gave to you, of which I said to you, Set it by you.”
24 Ora il cuoco avea levata una coscia, e ciò [ch'è] sopra. E [Samuele] la pose davanti a Saulle, e disse: Ecco quello ch'era stato riserbato; mettilo davanti a te, e mangia; perciocchè t'era stato serbato per questo tempo, quando io dissi: Io ho invitato il popolo. Così Saulle in quel dì mangiò con Samuele.
(And the cook lifts up the leg, and that which [is] on it, and sets [it] before Saul), and he says, “Behold, that which is left; [it] is set before your face—eat, for it is kept for you for this appointed time, [at my] saying, I have called the people”; and Saul eats with Samuel on that day.
25 Poi, essendo scesi dall'alto luogo nella città, [Samuele] parlò con Saulle sopra il tetto.
And they come down from the high place to the city, and he speaks with Saul on the roof.
26 E la mattina [seguente] si levarono a buon'ora, e all'apparir dell'alba Samuele chiamò Saulle, [ch'era salito] in sul tetto, dicendo: Levati, ed io ti accommiaterò. E Saulle si levò; e amendue, egli e Samuele, uscirono fuori.
And they rise early, and it comes to pass, at the ascending of the dawn, that Samuel calls to Saul, on the roof, saying, “Rise, and I send you away”; and Saul rises, and they go out, both of them—he and Samuel, outside.
27 Come essi scendevano verso l'estremità della città, Samuele disse a Saulle: Di' al servitore che passi oltre davanti a noi (ed egli passò oltre); ma tu fermati ora, acciocchè io ti faccia intendere la parola di Dio.
They are going down in the extremity of the city, and Samuel has said to Saul, “Say to the young man that he should pass on before us (and he passes on), and you, stand at this time, and I cause you to hear the word of God.”
