1 Samuele 12
1 ALLORA Samuele disse a tutto Israele: Ecco, io ho acconsentito alla vostra voce, in tutto ciò che voi mi avete detto; e ho costituito un re sopra voi.
And Samuel saith unto all Israel, 'Lo, I have hearkened to your voice, to all that ye said to me, and I cause to reign over you a king,
2 E ora ecco, esso re cammina davanti a voi, ed io son diventato vecchio e canuto; ecco, ancora i miei figliuoli son con voi. Or io son camminato davanti a voi, dalla mia giovanezza fino a questo giorno.
and now, lo, the king is walking habitually before you, and I have become aged and gray-headed, and my sons, lo, they [are] with you, and I have walked habitually before you from my youth till this day.
3 Eccomi; testificate contro a me, in presenza del Signore, e in presenza del suo Unto; di cui ho io preso il bue? di cui ho io preso l'asino? e chi ho io oppressato? a cui ho io fatto storsione? dalle cui mani ho io preso alcun prezzo di riscatto per nasconder gli occhi miei da lui? Ed io ve ne farò restituzione.
'Lo, here [am] I; testify against me, over-against Jehovah, and over-against His anointed; whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I oppressed; whom have I bruised, and of whose hand have I taken a ransom, and hide mine eyes with it? — and I restore to you.'
4 Ma essi dissero: Tu non ci hai oppressati, e non ci hai fatta storsione alcuna, e non hai preso nulla dalle mani d'alcuno.
And they say, 'Thou hast not oppressed us, nor hast thou crushed us, nor hast thou taken from the hand of any one anything.'
5 Ed egli disse loro: Il Signore [è] testimonio contro a voi, il suo Unto [è] anche esso oggi testimonio, che voi non avete trovato nulla nelle mie mani. E [il popolo] disse: [Sì, egli n'è] testimonio.
And he saith unto them, 'A witness [is] Jehovah against you: and a witness [is] His anointed this day, that ye have not found anything in my hand;' and they say, 'A witness.'
6 Allora Samuele disse al popolo: Il Signore [è] quello che ordinò Mosè ed Aaronne, e che trasse i padri vostri fuor del paese di Egitto.
And Samuel saith unto the people, 'Jehovah — He who made Moses and Aaron, and who brought up your fathers out of the land of Egypt!
7 Ma ora comparite [qua], ed io contenderò in giudicio con voi, nel cospetto del Signore, intorno a tutte le opere giuste che il Signore ha fatte inverso voi, e inverso i vostri padri.
and, now, station yourselves, and I judge you before Jehovah, with all the righteous acts of Jehovah, which He did with you, and with your fathers.
8 Dopo che Giacobbe fu venuto in Egitto, i padri vostri gridarono al Signore; e il Signore mandò Mosè ed Aaronne, i quali trassero i padri vostri fuor di Egitto, e li fecero abitare in questo luogo.
'When Jacob hath come in to Egypt, and your fathers cry unto Jehovah, then Jehovah sendeth Moses and Aaron, and they bring out your fathers from Egypt, and cause them to dwell in this place,
9 Ma essi, dimenticando il Signore Iddio loro, egli li vendè in mano di Sisera, capitano dell'esercito d'Hasor, e in mano de' Filistei, e in mano del re di Moab, i quali guerreggiarono contro a loro.
and they forget Jehovah their God, and He selleth them into the hand of Sisera, head of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fight against them,
10 Allora gridarono al Signore, e dissero: Noi abbiam peccato; conciossiachè abbiamo abbandonato il Signore, e abbiam servito a' Baali e ad Astarot; ma ora riscuotici di mano de' nostri nemici, e noi ti serviremo.
and they cry unto Jehovah, and say, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and now, deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we serve Thee.
11 E il Signore mandò Ierubbaal, e Bedan, e Iefte, e Samuele, e vi liberò di mano de' vostri nemici di ogn'intorno, e voi abitaste in sicurtà.
'And Jehovah sendeth Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivereth you out of the hand of your enemies round about, and ye dwell confidently.
12 Or voi, avendo veduto che Nahas, re dei figliuoli di Ammon, veniva contro a voi, mi avete detto: No; anzi un re regnerà sopra noi; benchè il Signore Iddio vostro [fosse] vostro re.
'And ye see that Nahash king of the Bene-Ammon hath come against you, and ye say to me, Nay, but a king doth reign over us; and Jehovah your God [is] your king!
13 Ora dunque, ecco il re che voi avete scelto, il quale avete chiesto; ed ecco, il Signore ha costituito un re sopra voi.
And, now, lo, the king whom ye have chosen — whom ye have asked! and lo, Jehovah hath placed over you a king.
14 Se voi temete il Signore e gli servite, e ubbidite alla sua voce, e non siete ribelli alla bocca del Signore; e voi, e il vostro re, che regna sopra voi, sarete dietro al Signore Iddio vostro.
'If ye fear Jehovah, and have served Him, and hearkened to His voice, then ye do not provoke the mouth of Jehovah, and ye have been — both ye and the king who hath reigned over you — after Jehovah your God.
15 Ma, se voi non ubbidite alla voce del Signore, e siete ribelli alla sua bocca, la mano del Signore sarà contro a voi, come [è stata] contro a' vostri padri.
'And if ye do not hearken to the voice of Jehovah — then ye have provoked the mouth of Jehovah, and the hand of Jehovah hath been against you, and against your fathers.
16 Fermatevi pure al presente ancora, e vedete questa gran cosa che il Signore farà davanti agli occhi vostri.
'Also now, station yourselves and see this great thing which Jehovah is doing before your eyes;
17 Non [è] egli oggi la ricolta de' grani? io griderò al Signore, ed egli farà tonare e piovere; acciocchè sappiate, e veggiate che il male, il qual voi avete commesso davanti al Signore, chiedendovi un re, è grande.
is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I call unto Jehovah, and He doth give voices and rain; and know ye and see that your evil is great which ye have done in the eyes of Jehovah, to ask for you a king.'
18 Samuele adunque gridò al Signore; e il Signore fece tonare e piovere in quel giorno; laonde tutto il popolo temette grandemente il Signore e Samuele.
And Samuel calleth unto Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth voices and rain, on that day, and all the people greatly fear Jehovah and Samuel;
19 E tutto il popolo disse a Samuele: Prega il Signore Iddio tuo per li tuoi servitori, che noi non muoiamo; perciocchè noi abbiamo sopraggiunto a tutti i nostri peccati [questo] male, d'averci chiesto un re.
and all the people say unto Samuel, 'Pray for thy servants unto Jehovah thy God, and we do not die, for we have added to all our sins evil to ask for us a king.'
20 E Samuele disse al popolo: Non temiate; voi avete commesso tutto questo male; ma pur non vi rivolgete indietro dal Signore, anzi servite al Signore con tutto il cuor vostro.
And Samuel saith unto the people, 'Fear not; ye have done all this evil; only, turn not aside from after Jehovah — and ye have served Jehovah with all your heart,
21 Non vi rivolgete pure indietro; perciocchè voi [andreste] dietro a cose vane, le quali non possono giovare, nè liberare; perciocchè son cose vane.
and ye do not turn aside after the vain things which do not profit nor deliver, for they [are] vain,
22 Imperocchè il Signore, per amor del suo gran Nome, non abbandonerà il suo popolo; conciossiachè sia piaciuto al Signore farvi suo popolo.
for Jehovah doth not leave His people, on account of His great name; for Jehovah hath been pleased to make you to Him for a people.
23 Tolga anche da me Iddio, che io pecchi contro al Signore, e che io resti di pregar per voi; anzi, io vi ammaestrerò nella buona e diritta via.
'I, also, far be it from me to sin against Jehovah, by ceasing to pray for you, and I have directed you in the good and upright way;
24 Sol temete il Signore, e servitegli in verità, con tutto il cuor vostro; perciocchè, guardate le gran cose ch'egli ha operate inverso voi.
only, fear ye Jehovah, and ye have served Him in truth with all your heart, for see that which He hath made great with you;
25 Ma, se pur voi vi portate malvagiamente, e voi e il vostro re perirete.
and if ye really do evil, both ye and your king are consumed.'
