Tito 2
1 Tu però insegna ciò che è secondo la sana dottrina:
But do thou speak the things which become sound teaching;
2 i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, assennati, saldi nella fede, nell'amore e nella pazienza.
that aged men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
3 Ugualmente le donne anziane si comportino in maniera degna dei credenti; non siano maldicenti né schiave di molto vino; sappiano piuttosto insegnare il bene,
that aged women likewise be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good,
4 per formare le giovani all'amore del marito e dei figli,
that they may teach the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 ad essere prudenti, caste, dedite alla famiglia, buone, sottomesse ai propri mariti, perché la parola di Dio non debba diventare oggetto di biasimo.
to be discreet, chaste, workers at home, good, in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Esorta ancora i più giovani a essere assennati,
The younger men likewise exhort to be sober-minded;
7 offrendo te stesso come esempio in tutto di buona condotta, con purezza di dottrina, dignità,
in all things showing thyself a pattern of good works, in teaching showing uncorruptness, gravity,
8 linguaggio sano e irreprensibile, perché il nostro avversario resti confuso, non avendo nulla di male da dire sul conto nostro.
sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is opposed to us may be put to shame, having no evil thing to say of us.
9 Esorta gli schiavi a esser sottomessi in tutto ai loro padroni; li accontentino e non li contraddicano,
Exhort bond-servants to be in subjection to their own masters, in all things to be well-pleasing to them,
10 non rubino, ma dimostrino fedeltà assoluta, per fare onore in tutto alla dottrina di Dio, nostro salvatore.
not contradicting, not purloining, but showing all good faith; that they may adorn the teaching of God our Saviour in all things.
11 E' apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, apportatrice di salvezza per tutti gli uomini,
For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation to all men, was manifested,
12 che ci insegna a rinnegare l'empietà e i desideri mondani e a vivere con sobrietà, giustizia e pietà in questo mondo, (aiōn g165)
teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in the present world; (aiōn g165)
13 nell'attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del nostro grande Dio e salvatore Gesù Cristo;
looking for the blessed hope, and appearing of the glory of the great God and of our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 il quale ha dato se stesso per noi, per riscattarci da ogni iniquità e formarsi un popolo puro che gli appartenga, zelante nelle opere buone.
who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a people to be his own, zealous in good works.
15 Questo devi insegnare, raccomandare e rimproverare con tutta autorità. Nessuno osi disprezzarti!
These things speak and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.
