Salmi 1

1 Beato l'uomo che non segue il consiglio degli empi, non indugia nella via dei peccatori e non siede in compagnia degli stolti;

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of mockers.

2 ma si compiace della legge del Signore, la sua legge medita giorno e notte.

But his delight is in the law of Yahweh, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 Sarà come albero piantato lungo corsi d'acqua, che darà frutto a suo tempo e le sue foglie non cadranno mai; riusciranno tutte le sue opere.

He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaves do not wither; whatever he does will prosper.

4 Non così, non così gli empi: ma come pula che il vento disperde;

The wicked are not so, but are instead like the chaff that the wind drives away.

5 perciò non reggeranno gli empi nel giudizio, né i peccatori nell'assemblea dei giusti.

So the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 Il Signore veglia sul cammino dei giusti, ma la via degli empi andrà in rovina.

For Yahweh approves of the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
