Salmi 83
1 Canto. Salmo. Di Asaf. Dio, non darti riposo, non restare muto e inerte, o Dio.
Keep not you silence, O God: hold not your peace, and be not still, O God.
2 Vedi: i tuoi avversari fremono e i tuoi nemici alzano la testa.
For, see, your enemies make a tumult: and they that hate you have lifted up the head.
3 Contro il tuo popolo ordiscono trame e congiurano contro i tuoi protetti.
They have taken crafty counsel against your people, and consulted against your hidden ones.
4 Hanno detto: «Venite, cancelliamoli come popolo e più non si ricordi il nome di Israele».
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 Hanno tramato insieme concordi, contro di te hanno concluso un'alleanza;
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against you:
6 le tende di Edom e gli Ismaeliti, Moab e gli Agareni,
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, Ammon e Amalek la Palestina con gli abitanti di Tiro.
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Anche Assur è loro alleato e ai figli di Lot presta man forte.
Assur also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot. (Selah)
9 Trattali come Madian e Sisara, come Iabin al torrente di Kison:
Do to them as to the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 essi furono distrutti a Endor, diventarono concime per la terra.
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Rendi i loro principi come Oreb e Zeb, e come Zebee e Sàlmana tutti i loro capi;
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 essi dicevano: «I pascoli di Dio conquistiamoli per noi».
Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13 Mio Dio, rendili come turbine, come pula dispersa dal vento.
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 Come il fuoco che brucia il bosco e come la fiamma che divora i monti,
As the fire burns a wood, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire;
15 così tu inseguili con la tua bufera e sconvolgili con il tuo uragano.
So persecute them with your tempest, and make them afraid with your storm.
16 Copri di vergogna i loro volti perché cerchino il tuo nome, Signore.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek your name, O LORD.
17 Restino confusi e turbati per sempre, siano umiliati, periscano;
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yes, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18 sappiano che tu hai nome «Signore», tu solo sei l'Altissimo su tutta la terra.
That men may know that you, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the most high over all the earth.
