Salmi 72
1 Dio, dà al re il tuo giudizio, al figlio del re la tua giustizia; Di Salomone.
Solomon’s. O God! thy justice, give, unto the king, And thy righteousness, unto the son of a king;
2 regga con giustizia il tuo popolo e i tuoi poveri con rettitudine.
May he judge, Thy people with righteousness; And thine oppressed ones with justice;
3 Le montagne portino pace al popolo e le colline giustizia.
May the mountains bring peace to the people, And the hills [be laden] with righteousness;
4 Ai miseri del suo popolo renderà giustizia, salverà i figli dei poveri e abbatterà l'oppressore.
May he, Vindicate the oppressed of the people, Bring deliverance to the children of the needy, and, Crush the oppressor.
5 Il suo regno durerà quanto il sole, quanto la luna, per tutti i secoli.
Let men revere thee, With the sun, And in presence of the moon, Unto the remotest generation.
6 Scenderà come pioggia sull'erba, come acqua che irrora la terra.
Let him come down, Like rain on fields to be mown, Like myriad drops on land to be reaped.
7 Nei suoi giorni fiorirà la giustizia e abbonderà la pace, finché non si spenga la luna.
May righteousness, in his days, blossom forth, And abundance of peace, till there be no moon.
8 E dominerà da mare a mare, dal fiume sino ai confini della terra.
So let him have dominion, From sea to sea, And from the River ["Euphrates"] unto the ends of the earth;
9 A lui si piegheranno gli abitanti del deserto, lambiranno la polvere i suoi nemici.
Before him, let the men of the desert kneel, But, as for his foes, the dust, let them lick;
10 Il re di Tarsis e delle isole porteranno offerte, i re degli Arabi e di Saba offriranno tributi.
The kings of Tarshish and of the Coastlands, A gift, let them render, The kings of Sheba and Seba, A present, let them bring;
11 A lui tutti i re si prostreranno, lo serviranno tutte le nazioni.
Yea let all kings, bow down unto him, Let, all nations, serve him;
12 Egli libererà il povero che grida e il misero che non trova aiuto,
Because he Rescueth, The needy from the rich, The oppressed, who hath no helper;
13 avrà pietà del debole e del povero e salverà la vita dei suoi miseri.
He Pitieth the weak and the needy, And, the lives of the needy, he Saveth:
14 Li riscatterà dalla violenza e dal sopruso, sarà prezioso ai suoi occhi il loro sangue.
From extortion, and, violence, he Redeemeth their life, And precious is their blood in his sight.
15 Vivrà e gli sarà dato oro di Arabia; si pregherà per lui ogni giorno, sarà benedetto per sempre.
Let him live, then! And be there given unto him of the gold of Sheba, —Let prayer also be offered for him continually, All the day, let him be blessed.
16 Abbonderà il frumento nel paese, ondeggerà sulle cime dei monti; il suo frutto fiorirà come il Libano, la sua messe come l'erba della terra.
May there be an abundance of corn in the earth, in the top of the mountains, —Let the fruit thereof, wave like Lebanon, And they of the city bloom like the fresh shoots of the earth.
17 Il suo nome duri in eterno, davanti al sole persista il suo nome. In lui saranno benedette tutte le stirpi della terra e tutti i popoli lo diranno beato.
May his Name be age-abiding, In the presence of the sun, let his Name flourish, —And may all the families of the ground bless themselves in him, All nations, pronounce him happy!
18 Benedetto il Signore, Dio di Israele, egli solo compie prodigi.
Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, —Who doeth wondrous things by himself alone;
19 E benedetto il suo nome glorioso per sempre, della sua gloria sia piena tutta la terra. Amen, amen.
And blessed be his glorious Name, unto times age-abiding, —And filled with his glory be all the earth, Amen and Amen!
