Salmi 61

1 Al maestro del coro. Per strumenti a corda. Di Davide. Ascolta, o Dio, il mio grido, sii attento alla mia preghiera.

“To the chief musician upon Neginah, by David.” Hear, O God, my entreaty; listen to my prayer.

2 Dai confini della terra io t'invoco; mentre il mio cuore viene meno, guidami su rupe inaccessibile.

From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is too high for me.

3 Tu sei per me rifugio, torre salda davanti all'avversario.

For thou hast been a shelter unto me, a strong tower against the enemy.

4 Dimorerò nella tua tenda per sempre, all'ombra delle tue ali troverò riparo;

Let me sojourn in thy tent to all eternity; let me be sheltered under the covert of thy wings. (Selah)

5 perché tu, Dio, hai ascoltato i miei voti, mi hai dato l'eredità di chi teme il tuo nome.

For thou, O God, hast truly listened to my vows: thou hast given back the heritage of those that fear thy name.

6 Ai giorni del re aggiungi altri giorni, per molte generazioni siano i suoi anni.

Oh, add days unto the king's days: may his years be as of many generations.

7 Regni per sempre sotto gli occhi di Dio; grazia e fedeltà lo custodiscano.

May he abide for ever before God: ordain that kindness and truth may guard him.

8 Allora canterò inni al tuo nome, sempre, sciogliendo i miei voti giorno per giorno.

So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may pay my vows day by day.
