Salmi 31

1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide. In te, Signore, mi sono rifugiato, mai sarò deluso; per la tua giustizia salvami.

In thee, O YHWH, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.

2 Porgi a me l'orecchio, vieni presto a liberarmi. Sii per me la rupe che mi accoglie, la cinta di riparo che mi salva.

Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.

3 Tu sei la mia roccia e il mio baluardo, per il tuo nome dirigi i miei passi.

For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.

4 Scioglimi dal laccio che mi hanno teso, perché sei tu la mia difesa.

Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.

5 Mi affido alle tue mani; tu mi riscatti, Signore, Dio fedele.

Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O YHWH El of truth.

6 Tu detesti chi serve idoli falsi, ma io ho fede nel Signore.

I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in YHWH.

7 Esulterò di gioia per la tua grazia, perché hai guardato alla mia miseria, hai conosciuto le mie angosce;

I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;

8 non mi hai consegnato nelle mani del nemico, hai guidato al largo i miei passi.

And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.

9 Abbi pietà di me, Signore, sono nell'affanno; per il pianto si struggono i miei occhi, la mia anima e le mie viscere.

Have mercy upon me, O YHWH, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

10 Si consuma nel dolore la mia vita, i miei anni passano nel gemito; inaridisce per la pena il mio vigore, si dissolvono tutte le mie ossa.

For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

11 Sono l'obbrobrio dei miei nemici, il disgusto dei miei vicini, l'orrore dei miei conoscenti; chi mi vede per strada mi sfugge.

I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

12 Sono caduto in oblio come un morto, sono divenuto un rifiuto.

I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.

13 Se odo la calunnia di molti, il terrore mi circonda; quando insieme contro di me congiurano, tramano di togliermi la vita.

For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

14 Ma io confido in te, Signore; dico: «Tu sei il mio Dio,

But I trusted in thee, O YHWH: I said, Thou art my Elohim.

15 nelle tue mani sono i miei giorni». Liberami dalla mano dei miei nemici, dalla stretta dei miei persecutori:

My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

16 fà splendere il tuo volto sul tuo servo, salvami per la tua misericordia.

Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.

17 Signore, ch'io non resti confuso, perché ti ho invocato; siano confusi gli empi, tacciano negli inferi. (Sheol h7585)

Let me not be ashamed, O YHWH; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. (Sheol h7585)

18 Fà tacere le labbra di menzogna, che dicono insolenze contro il giusto con orgoglio e disprezzo.

Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

19 Quanto è grande la tua bontà, Signore! La riservi per coloro che ti temono, ne ricolmi chi in te si rifugia davanti agli occhi di tutti.

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

20 Tu li nascondi al riparo del tuo volto, lontano dagli intrighi degli uomini; li metti al sicuro nella tua tenda, lontano dalla rissa delle lingue.

Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

21 Benedetto il Signore, che ha fatto per me meraviglie di grazia in una fortezza inaccessibile.

Blessed be YHWH: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.

22 Io dicevo nel mio sgomento: «Sono escluso dalla tua presenza». Tu invece hai ascoltato la voce della mia preghiera quando a te gridavo aiuto.

For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

23 Amate il Signore, voi tutti suoi santi; il Signore protegge i suoi fedeli e ripaga oltre misura l'orgoglioso.

O love YHWH, all ye his saints: for YHWH preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

24 Siate forti, riprendete coraggio, o voi tutti che sperate nel Signore.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in YHWH.
