Salmi 16
1 Proteggimi, o Dio: in te mi rifugio. Miktam. Di Davide.
“A psalm off David.” Preserve me, O God! for to thee do I look for help.
2 Ho detto a Dio: «Sei tu il mio Signore, senza di te non ho alcun bene».
I have said to Jehovah, Thou art my Lord; I have no happiness beyond thee!
3 Per i santi, che sono sulla terra, uomini nobili, è tutto il mio amore.
The holy that are in the land, and the excellent, —in them is all my delight.
4 Si affrettino altri a costruire idoli: io non spanderò le loro libazioni di sangue né pronunzierò con le mie labbra i loro nomi.
They who hasten after other gods shall have multiplied sorrows; Their drink-offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor will I take their names upon my lips.
5 Il Signore è mia parte di eredità e mio calice: nelle tue mani è la mia vita.
Jehovah is my portion and my cup; Thou wilt maintain my lot!
6 Per me la sorte è caduta su luoghi deliziosi, è magnifica la mia eredità.
My portion hath fallen to me in pleasant places; Yea, I have a goodly inheritance.
7 Benedico il Signore che mi ha dato consiglio; anche di notte il mio cuore mi istruisce.
I will bless the LORD, who careth for me; Yea, in the night my heart admonisheth me.
8 Io pongo sempre innanzi a me il Signore, sta alla mia destra, non posso vacillare.
I set the LORD before me at all times; Since he is at my right hand, I shall not fall.
9 Di questo gioisce il mio cuore, esulta la mia anima; anche il mio corpo riposa al sicuro,
Therefore my heart is glad, and my spirit rejoiceth; Yea, my flesh dwelleth in security.
10 perché non abbandonerai la mia vita nel sepolcro, né lascerai che il tuo santo veda la corruzione. (Sheol h7585)
For thou wilt not give me up to the underworld; Nor wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see the pit. (Sheol h7585)
11 Mi indicherai il sentiero della vita, gioia piena nella tua presenza, dolcezza senza fine alla tua destra.
Thou wilt show me the path of life; In thy presence is fulness of joy; At thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.
