1 Amo il Signore perché ascolta il grido della mia preghiera. Alleluia.

I love the LORD, because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy.

2 Verso di me ha teso l'orecchio nel giorno in cui lo invocavo.

Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

3 Mi stringevano funi di morte, ero preso nei lacci degli inferi. Mi opprimevano tristezza e angoscia (Sheol h7585)

The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow. (Sheol h7585)

4 e ho invocato il nome del Signore: «Ti prego, Signore, salvami».

Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, I beg you, deliver my soul."

5 Buono e giusto è il Signore, il nostro Dio è misericordioso.

The LORD is Gracious and righteous. Yes, our God is merciful.

6 Il Signore protegge gli umili: ero misero ed egli mi ha salvato.

The LORD preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 Ritorna, anima mia, alla tua pace, poiché il Signore ti ha beneficato;

Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.

8 egli mi ha sottratto dalla morte, ha liberato i miei occhi dalle lacrime, ha preservato i miei piedi dalla caduta.

For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 Camminerò alla presenza del Signore sulla terra dei viventi.

I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

10 Ho creduto anche quando dicevo: «Sono troppo infelice». Alleluia.

I believed, therefore I said, "I am greatly afflicted."

11 Ho detto con sgomento: «Ogni uomo è inganno».

I said in my haste, "All men are liars."

12 Che cosa renderò al Signore per quanto mi ha dato?

What will I give to the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

13 Alzerò il calice della salvezza e invocherò il nome del Signore.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the LORD.

14 Adempirò i miei voti al Signore, davanti a tutto il suo popolo.

I will pay my vows to the LORD, yes, in the presence of all his people.

15 Preziosa agli occhi del Signore è la morte dei suoi fedeli.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful ones.

16 Sì, io sono il tuo servo, Signore, io sono tuo servo, figlio della tua ancella; hai spezzato le mie catene.

LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains.

17 A te offrirò sacrifici di lode e invocherò il nome del Signore.

I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on the name of the LORD.

18 Adempirò i miei voti al Signore e davanti a tutto il suo popolo,

I will pay my vows to the LORD, yes, in the presence of all his people,

19 negli atri della casa del Signore, in mezzo a te, Gerusalemme.

in the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of you, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.
