Salmi 106
1 Celebrate il Signore, perché è buono, perché eterna è la sua misericordia. Alleluia.
Praise ye Jehovah. Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; For his lovingkindness [endureth] for ever.
2 Chi può narrare i prodigi del Signore, far risuonare tutta la sua lode?
Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah, Or show forth all his praise?
3 Beati coloro che agiscono con giustizia e praticano il diritto in ogni tempo.
Blessed are they that keep justice, And he that doeth righteousness at all times.
4 Ricordati di noi, Signore, per amore del tuo popolo, visitaci con la tua salvezza,
Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people; Oh visit me with thy salvation,
5 perché vediamo la felicità dei tuoi eletti, godiamo della gioia del tuo popolo, ci gloriamo con la tua eredità.
That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen, That I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, That I may glory with thine inheritance.
6 Abbiamo peccato come i nostri padri, abbiamo fatto il male, siamo stati empi.
We have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
7 I nostri padri in Egitto non compresero i tuoi prodigi, non ricordarono tanti tuoi benefici e si ribellarono presso il mare, presso il mar Rosso.
Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; They remembered not the multitude of thy lovingkindnesses, But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
8 Ma Dio li salvò per il suo nome, per manifestare la sua potenza.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, That he might make his mighty power to be known.
9 Minacciò il mar Rosso e fu disseccato, li condusse tra i flutti come per un deserto;
He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up: So he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.
10 li salvò dalla mano di chi li odiava, li riscattò dalla mano del nemico.
And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 L'acqua sommerse i loro avversari; nessuno di essi sopravvisse.
And the waters covered their adversaries; There was not one of them left.
12 Allora credettero alle sue parole e cantarono la sua lode.
Then believed they his words; They sang his praise.
13 Ma presto dimenticarono le sue opere, non ebbero fiducia nel suo disegno,
They soon forgat his works; They waited not for his counsel,
14 arsero di brame nel deserto, e tentarono Dio nella steppa.
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tempted God in the desert.
15 Concesse loro quanto domandavano e saziò la loro ingordigia.
And he gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.
16 Divennero gelosi di Mosè negli accampamenti, e di Aronne, il consacrato del Signore.
They envied Moses also in the camp, [And] Aaron the saint of Jehovah.
17 Allora si aprì la terra e inghiottì Datan, e seppellì l'assemblea di Abiron.
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And covered the company of Abiram.
18 Divampò il fuoco nella loro fazione e la fiamma divorò i ribelli.
And a fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.
19 Si fabbricarono un vitello sull'Oreb, si prostrarono a un'immagine di metallo fuso;
They made a calf in Horeb, And worshipped a molten image.
20 scambiarono la loro gloria con la figura di un toro che mangia fieno.
Thus they changed their glory For the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.
21 Dimenticarono Dio che li aveva salvati, che aveva operato in Egitto cose grandi,
They forgat God their Saviour, Who had done great things in Egypt,
22 prodigi nel paese di Cam, cose terribili presso il mar Rosso.
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, [And] terrible things by the Red Sea.
23 E aveva gia deciso di sterminarli, se Mosè suo eletto non fosse stato sulla breccia di fronte a lui, per stornare la sua collera dallo sterminio.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy [them].
24 Rifiutarono un paese di delizie, non credettero alla sua parola.
Yea, they despised the pleasant land, They believed not his word,
25 Mormorarono nelle loro tende, non ascoltarono la voce del Signore.
But murmured in their tents, And hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah.
26 Egli alzò la mano su di loro giurando di abbatterli nel deserto,
Therefore he sware unto them, That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,
27 di disperdere i loro discendenti tra le genti e disseminarli per il paese.
And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations, And scatter them in the lands.
28 Si asservirono a Baal-Peor e mangiarono i sacrifici dei morti,
They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead.
29 provocarono Dio con tali azioni e tra essi scoppiò una pestilenza.
Thus they provoked him to anger with their doings; And the plague brake in upon them.
30 Ma Finees si alzò e si fece giudice, allora cessò la peste
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment; And so the plague was stayed.
31 e gli fu computato a giustizia presso ogni generazione, sempre.
And that was reckoned unto him for righteousness, Unto all generations for evermore.
32 Lo irritarono anche alle acque di Meriba e Mosè fu punito per causa loro,
They angered him also at the waters of Meribah, So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;
33 perché avevano inasprito l'animo suo ed egli disse parole insipienti.
Because they were rebellious against his spirit, And he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
34 Non sterminarono i popoli come aveva ordinato il Signore,
They did not destroy the peoples, As Jehovah commanded them,
35 ma si mescolarono con le nazioni e impararono le opere loro.
But mingled themselves with the nations, And learned their works,
36 Servirono i loro idoli e questi furono per loro un tranello.
And served their idols, Which became a snare unto them.
37 Immolarono i loro figli e le loro figlie agli dei falsi.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,
38 Versarono sangue innocente, il sangue dei figli e delle figlie sacrificati agli idoli di Canaan; la terra fu profanata dal sangue,
And shed innocent blood, Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.
39 si contaminarono con le opere loro, si macchiarono con i loro misfatti.
Thus were they defiled with their works, And played the harlot in their doings.
40 L'ira del Signore si accese contro il suo popolo, ebbe in orrore il suo possesso;
Therefore was the wrath of Jehovah kindled against his people, And he abhorred his inheritance.
41 e li diede in balìa dei popoli, li dominarono i loro avversari,
And he gave them into the hand of the nations; And they that hated them ruled over them.
42 li oppressero i loro nemici e dovettero piegarsi sotto la loro mano.
Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 Molte volte li aveva liberati; ma essi si ostinarono nei loro disegni e per le loro iniquità furono abbattuti.
Many times did he deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And were brought low in their iniquity.
44 Pure, egli guardò alla loro angoscia quando udì il loro grido.
Nevertheless he regarded their distress, When he heard their cry:
45 Si ricordò della sua alleanza con loro, si mosse a pietà per il suo grande amore.
And he remembered for them his covenant, And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
46 Fece loro trovare grazia presso quanti li avevano deportati.
He made them also to be pitied Of all those that carried them captive.
47 Salvaci, Signore Dio nostro, e raccoglici di mezzo ai popoli, perché proclamiamo il tuo santo nome e ci gloriamo della tua lode.
Save us, O Jehovah our God, And gather us from among the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, And to triumph in thy praise.
48 Benedetto il Signore, Dio d'Israele da sempre, per sempre. Tutto il popolo dica: Amen.
Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, From everlasting even to everlasting. And let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye Jehovah.
