Salmi 105
1 Lodate il Signore e invocate il suo nome, proclamate tra i popoli le sue opere. Alleluia.
O give thanks unto the LORD; Call upon his name; Make known his deeds among the people!
2 Cantate a lui canti di gioia, meditate tutti i suoi prodigi.
Sing unto him; sing psalms unto him; Tell ye of all his wondrous works!
3 Gloriatevi del suo santo nome: gioisca il cuore di chi cerca il Signore.
Glory ye in his holy name; Let the hearts of them that seek the LORD rejoice!
4 Cercate il Signore e la sua potenza, cercate sempre il suo volto.
Seek the LORD, and his majesty; Seek his face continually!
5 Ricordate le meraviglie che ha compiute, i suoi prodigi e i giudizi della sua bocca:
Remember the wonders he hath wrought, His miracles and the judgments of his mouth,
6 voi stirpe di Abramo, suo servo, figli di Giacobbe, suo eletto.
Ye offspring of Abraham his servant, Ye children of Jacob his chosen!
7 E' lui il Signore, nostro Dio, su tutta la terra i suoi giudizi.
Jehovah, he is our God, His judgments are over all the earth.
8 Ricorda sempre la sua alleanza: parola data per mille generazioni,
He remembereth his covenant for ever, And the promise to a thousand generations;
9 l'alleanza stretta con Abramo e il suo giuramento ad Isacco.
The covenant which he made with Abraham, And the oath which he gave to Isaac;
10 La stabilì per Giacobbe come legge, come alleanza eterna per Israele:
Which he confirmed to Jacob for a decree, And to Israel for an everlasting covenant.
11 «Ti darò il paese di Cànaan come eredità a voi toccata in sorte».
“To thee,” said he, “will I give the land of Canaan For the lot of your inheritance.”
12 Quando erano in piccolo numero, pochi e forestieri in quella terra,
When they were yet few in number, Very few, and strangers in the land;
13 e passavano di paese in paese, da un regno ad un altro popolo,
When they went from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people,
14 non permise che alcuno li opprimesse e castigò i re per causa loro:
He suffered no man to oppress them; Yea, he rebuked kings for their sakes.
15 «Non toccate i miei consacrati, non fate alcun male ai miei profeti».
“Touch not,” said he, “mine anointed, And do my prophets no harm!”
16 Chiamò la fame sopra quella terra e distrusse ogni riserva di pane.
Again, when he commanded a famine in the land, And broke the whole staff of bread,
17 Davanti a loro mandò un uomo, Giuseppe, venduto come schiavo.
He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold as a slave.
18 Gli strinsero i piedi con ceppi, il ferro gli serrò la gola,
His feet they hurt with fetters; He was bound in chains of iron;
19 finché si avverò la sua predizione e la parola del Signore gli rese giustizia.
Until his prediction came to pass, And the word of the LORD proved him.
20 Il re mandò a scioglierlo, il capo dei popoli lo fece liberare;
Then the king sent, and loosed him; The ruler of nations, and set him free;
21 lo pose signore della sua casa, capo di tutti i suoi averi,
He made him governor of his house, And lord of all his possessions;
22 per istruire i capi secondo il suo giudizio e insegnare la saggezza agli anziani.
To bind his princes at his pleasure, And teach his counsellors wisdom.
23 E Israele venne in Egitto, Giacobbe visse nel paese di Cam come straniero.
Israel also came into Egypt, And Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham;
24 Ma Dio rese assai fecondo il suo popolo, lo rese più forte dei suoi nemici.
Where God increased his people greatly, And made them stronger than their enemies.
25 Mutò il loro cuore e odiarono il suo popolo, contro i suoi servi agirono con inganno
He turned their hearts to hate his people, And form devices against his servants.
26 Mandò Mosè suo servo e Aronne che si era scelto.
Then sent he Moses his servant, And Aaron, whom he had chosen.
27 Compì per mezzo loro i segni promessi e nel paese di Cam i suoi prodigi.
They showed his signs among them, And his wonders in the land of Ham.
28 Mandò le tenebre e si fece buio, ma resistettero alle sue parole.
He sent darkness upon them, and made it dark; And they did not disobey his word.
29 Cambiò le loro acque in sangue e fece morire i pesci.
He turned their waters into blood, And caused their fish to die.
30 Il loro paese brulicò di rane fino alle stanze dei loro sovrani.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, Even in the chambers of their kings.
31 Diede un ordine e le mosche vennero a sciami e le zanzare in tutto il loro paese.
He spake, and there came flies, And lice in all their coasts.
32 Invece delle piogge mandò loro la grandine, vampe di fuoco sul loro paese.
Instead of rain he gave them hail, And flaming fire in their land.
33 Colpì le loro vigne e i loro fichi, schiantò gli alberi della loro terra.
He smote also their vines and fig-trees, And broke the trees of their coasts.
34 Diede un ordine e vennero le locuste e bruchi senza numero;
He spake, and the locusts came. Destructive locusts without number,
35 divorarono tutta l'erba del paese e distrussero il frutto del loro suolo.
Which ate up all the herbage in their land, And devoured the fruits of their fields.
36 Colpì nel loro paese ogni primogenito, tutte le primizie del loro vigore.
Then he smote all the first-born in their land, The first-fruits of all their strength.
37 Fece uscire il suo popolo con argento e oro, fra le tribù non c'era alcun infermo.
He led forth his people with silver and gold; Nor was there one feeble person in all their tribes.
38 L'Egitto si rallegrò della loro partenza perché su di essi era piombato il terrore.
Egypt was glad when they departed, For their terror had fallen upon them.
39 Distese una nube per proteggerli e un fuoco per illuminarli di notte.
He spread out a cloud for a covering, And fire to give light by night.
40 Alla loro domanda fece scendere le quaglie e li saziò con il pane del cielo.
They asked, and he brought quails, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 Spaccò una rupe e ne sgorgarono acque, scorrevano come fiumi nel deserto,
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed forth, And ran in the dry places like a river.
42 perché ricordò la sua parola santa data ad Abramo suo servo.
For he remembered his holy promise, Which he had made to Abraham his servant;
43 Fece uscire il suo popolo con esultanza, i suoi eletti con canti di gioia.
And he led forth his people with joy, And his chosen with gladness.
44 Diede loro le terre dei popoli, ereditarono la fatica delle genti,
He gave to them the lands of the nations, And they inherited the labor of the peoples;
45 perché custodissero i suoi decreti e obbedissero alle sue leggi. Alleluia.
That they might observe his statutes, And obey his laws. Praise ye the LORD!
