Proverbi 5
1 Figlio mio, fà attenzione alla mia sapienza e porgi l'orecchio alla mia intelligenza,
My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow your ear to my understanding:
2 perché tu possa seguire le mie riflessioni e le tue labbra custodiscano la scienza.
That you may regard discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge.
3 Stillano miele le labbra di una straniera e più viscida dell'olio è la sua bocca;
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 ma ciò che segue è amaro come assenzio, pungente come spada a doppio taglio.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 Per timore che tu guardi al sentiero della vita, le sue vie volgono qua e là; essa non se ne cura.
Lest you should ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that you can not know them.
7 Ora, figlio mio, ascoltami e non allontanarti dalle parole della mia bocca.
Hear me now therefore, O all of you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Tieni lontano da lei il tuo cammino e non avvicinarti alla porta della sua casa,
Remove your way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 per non mettere in balìa di altri il tuo vigore e i tuoi anni in balìa di un uomo crudele,
Lest you give your honour unto others, and your years unto the cruel:
10 perché non si sazino dei tuoi beni gli estranei, non finiscano le tue fatiche in casa di un forestiero
Lest strangers be filled with your wealth; and your labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 e tu non gema sulla tua sorte, quando verranno meno il tuo corpo e la tua carne,
And you mourn at the last, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
12 e dica: «Perché mai ho odiato la disciplina e il mio cuore ha disprezzato la correzione?
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 Non ho ascoltato la voce dei miei maestri, non ho prestato orecchio a chi m'istruiva.
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 Per poco non mi son trovato nel colmo dei mali in mezzo alla folla e all'assemblea».
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Bevi l'acqua della tua cisterna e quella che zampilla dal tuo pozzo,
Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well.
16 perché le tue sorgenti non scorrano al di fuori, i tuoi ruscelli nelle pubbliche piazze,
Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 ma siano per te solo e non per degli estranei insieme a te.
Let them be only your own, and not strangers' with you.
18 Sia benedetta la tua sorgente; trova gioia nella donna della tua giovinezza:
Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of your youth.
19 cerva amabile, gazzella graziosa, essa s'intrattenga con te; le sue tenerezze ti inebrino sempre; sii tu sempre invaghito del suo amore!
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and be you ravished always with her love.
20 Perché, figlio mio, invaghirti d'una straniera e stringerti al petto di un'estranea?
And why will you, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 Poiché gli occhi del Signore osservano le vie dell'uomo ed egli vede tutti i suoi sentieri.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his activities.
22 L'empio è preda delle sue iniquità, è catturato con le funi del suo peccato.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.
23 Egli morirà per mancanza di disciplina, si perderà per la sua grande stoltezza.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
