Proverbi 19
1 Meglio un povero di condotta integra che un ricco di costumi perversi.
Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
2 Lo zelo senza riflessione non è cosa buona, e chi va a passi frettolosi inciampa.
Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hastens with his feet sins.
3 La stoltezza intralcia il cammino dell'uomo e poi egli si adira contro il Signore.
The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD.
4 Le ricchezze moltiplicano gli amici, ma il povero è abbandonato anche dall'amico che ha.
Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbor.
5 Il falso testimone non resterà impunito, chi diffonde menzogne non avrà scampo.
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape.
6 Molti sono gli adulatori dell'uomo generoso e tutti sono amici di chi fa doni.
Many will entreat the favor of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that gives gifts.
7 Il povero è disprezzato dai suoi stessi fratelli, tanto più si allontanano da lui i suoi amici. Egli va in cerca di parole, ma non ci sono.
All the brothers of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they are wanting to him.
8 Chi acquista senno ama se stesso e chi agisce con prudenza trova fortuna.
He that gets wisdom loves his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good.
9 Il falso testimone non resterà impunito, chi diffonde menzogne perirà.
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish.
10 Allo stolto non conviene una vita agiata, ancor meno a un servo comandare ai prìncipi.
Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
11 E' avvedutezza per l'uomo rimandare lo sdegno ed è sua gloria passar sopra alle offese.
The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
12 Lo sdegno del re è simile al ruggito del leone e il suo favore è come la rugiada sull'erba.
The king’s wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favor is as dew on the grass.
13 Un figlio stolto è una calamità per il padre e i litigi della moglie sono come stillicidio incessante.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
14 La casa e il patrimonio si ereditano dai padri, ma una moglie assennata è dono del Signore.
House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
15 La pigrizia fa cadere in torpore, l'indolente patirà la fame.
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.
16 Chi custodisce il comando custodisce se stesso, chi trascura la propria condotta morirà.
He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall die.
17 Chi fa la carità al povero fa un prestito al Signore che gli ripagherà la buona azione.
He that has pity on the poor lends to the LORD; and that which he has given will he pay him again.
18 Correggi tuo figlio finché c'è speranza, ma non ti trasporti l'ira fino a ucciderlo.
Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying.
19 Il violento deve essere punito, se lo risparmi, lo diventerà ancora di più.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again.
20 Ascolta il consiglio e accetta la correzione, per essere saggio in avvenire.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.
21 Molte sono le idee nella mente dell'uomo, ma solo il disegno del Signore resta saldo.
There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.
22 Il pregio dell'uomo è la sua bontà, meglio un povero che un bugiardo.
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.
23 Il timore di Dio conduce alla vita e chi ne è pieno riposerà non visitato dalla sventura.
The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.
24 Il pigro tuffa la mano nel piatto, ma stenta persino a riportarla alla bocca.
A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
25 Percuoti il beffardo e l'ingenuo diventerà accorto, rimprovera l'intelligente e imparerà la lezione.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
26 Chi rovina il padre e fa fuggire la madre è un figlio disonorato e infame.
He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach.
27 Figlio mio, cessa pure di ascoltare l'istruzione, se vuoi allontanarti dalle parole della sapienza.
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causes to err from the words of knowledge.
28 Il testimone iniquo si beffa della giustizia e la bocca degli empi ingoia l'iniquità.
An ungodly witness scorns judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.
29 Per i beffardi sono pronte le verghe e il bastone per le spalle degli stolti.
Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
