Levitico 21
1 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Parla ai sacerdoti, figli di Aronne, e riferisci loro: Un sacerdote non dovrà rendersi immondo per il contatto con un morto della sua parentela,
And the Lord said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, None [of them] shall defile himself on the dead, among his people;
2 se non per un suo parente stretto, cioè per sua madre, suo padre, suo figlio, sua figlia, suo fratello
But on his kin, that is near unto him, [that is, ] on his mother, and on his father, and on his son, and on his daughter, and on his brother,
3 e sua sorella ancora vergine, che viva con lui e non sia ancora maritata; per questa può esporsi alla immondezza.
And on his sister that is a virgin, that is nigh unto him, who hath had no husband: on her may he defile himself.
4 Signore tra i suoi parenti, non si dovrà contaminare, profanando se stesso.
The chief man among his people shall not defile himself, to be profaned thereby.
5 I sacerdoti non si faranno tonsure sul capo, né si raderanno ai lati la barba né si faranno incisioni nella carne.
They shall not make any baldness upon their head, and the corner of their beard shall they not shave off, and in their flesh shall they not make any incision.
6 Saranno santi per il loro Dio e non profaneranno il nome del loro Dio, perché offrono al Signore sacrifici consumati dal fuoco, pane del loro Dio; perciò saranno santi.
Holy shall they be unto their God, and they shall not profane the name of their God; for the fire-offerings of the Lord, the bread of their God, do they offer, they shall therefore be holy.
7 Non prenderanno in moglie una prostituta o gia disonorata; né una donna ripudiata dal marito, perché sono santi per il loro Dio.
A woman that is a harlot, or one profaned, shall they not take; and a woman put away from her husband shall they not take; for holy is he unto his God.
8 Tu considererai dunque il sacerdote come santo, perché egli offre il pane del tuo Dio: sarà per te santo, perché io, il Signore, che vi santifico, sono santo.
And thou shalt sanctify him; for the bread of thy God doth he offer: holy shall he be unto thee; for I the Lord, who sanctify you, am holy.
9 Se la figlia di un sacerdote si disonora prostituendosi, disonora suo padre; sarà arsa con il fuoco.
And if the daughter of any priest profane herself by committing incest, her father doth she profane: with fire shall she be burnt.
10 Il sacerdote, quello che è il sommo tra i suoi fratelli, sul capo del quale è stato sparso l'olio dell'unzione e ha ricevuto l'investitura, indossando le vesti sacre, non dovrà scarmigliarsi i capelli né stracciarsi le vesti.
And the priest that is highest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil hath been poured, and who hath been consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head grow long, and his garments shall he not rend;
11 Non si avvicinerà ad alcun cadavere; non si renderà immondo neppure per suo padre e per sua madre.
Neither shall he go in to any dead body; even on his father, and on his mother shall he not defile himself.
12 Non uscirà dal santuario e non profanerà il santuario del suo Dio, perché la consacrazione è su di lui mediante l'olio dell'unzione del suo Dio. Io sono il Signore.
And out of the sanctuary shall he not go, that he may not profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the Lord.
13 Sposerà una vergine.
And he shall take a wife in her virgin state.
14 Non potrà sposare né una vedova, né una divorziata, né una disonorata, né una prostituta; ma prenderà in moglie una vergine della sua gente.
A widow, and a divorced woman, and one profaned, [and] a harlot, these shall he not take; but a virgin of his own people shall he take for wife;
15 Così non disonorerà la sua discendenza in mezzo al suo popolo; poiché io sono il Signore che lo santifico».
So that he may not profane his seed among his people; for I, the Lord, do sanctify him.
16 Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè:
And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
17 «Parla ad Aronne e digli: Nelle generazioni future nessun uomo della tua stirpe, che abbia qualche deformità, potrà accostarsi ad offrire il pane del suo Dio;
Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever of thy seed in their generations it be on whom there is any blemish, shall not approach to offer the bread of his God.
18 perché nessun uomo che abbia qualche deformità potrà accostarsi: né il cieco, né lo zoppo, né chi abbia il viso deforme per difetto o per eccesso,
For whatsoever man it be on whom there is a blemish, shall not approach: a blind, or a lame man, or one that hath a flattened nose, or a man one of whose limbs is too long,
19 né chi abbia una frattura al piede o alla mano,
Or a man who hath a broken foot, or a broken hand,
20 né un gobbo, né un nano, né chi abbia una macchia nell'occhio o la scabbia o piaghe purulente o sia eunuco.
Or a crookbacked, or a dwarf, or one that hath a blemish in his eye, or the itch, or the scurvy, or the testicles broken.
21 Nessun uomo della stirpe del sacerdote Aronne, con qualche deformità, si accosterà ad offrire i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco in onore del Signore. Ha un difetto: non si accosti quindi per offrire il pane del suo Dio.
Every man on whom there is a blemish, of the seed of Aaron the priest, shall not come nigh to offer the fire-offerings of the Lord: there is a blemish on him; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
22 Potrà mangiare il pane del suo Dio, le cose sacrosante e le cose sante;
The brewed of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy things he may eat.
23 ma non potrà avvicinarsi al velo, né accostarsi all'altare, perché ha una deformità. Non dovrà profanare i miei luoghi santi, perché io sono il Signore che li santifico».
Only unto the vail, and unto the altar shall he not come nigh, because there is a blemish on him; that he profane not my holy things; for I the Lord do sanctify them.
24 Così parlò ad Aronne, ai suoi figli e a tutti gli Israeliti.
And Moses spoke thus unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
