Levitico 18
1 Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè:
Yahweh also said to Moses/me,
2 «Parla agli Israeliti e riferisci loro. Io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.
“Speak to the Israeli people and tell them [that I, Yahweh, say this] this: I am Yahweh, your God.
3 Non farete come si fa nel paese d'Egitto dove avete abitato, né farete come si fa nel paese di Canaan dove io vi conduco, né imiterete i loro costumi.
[So you must do what I want you to do]; you must not do the things that the people in Egypt, where you lived previously, do; and you must not do what is done by the people in Canaan, the land to which I am taking you. Do not imitate their behavior.
4 Metterete in pratica le mie prescrizioni e osserverete le mie leggi, seguendole. Io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.
You must obey all of my laws [DOU], because it is I, Yahweh your God, [who am commanding those laws].
5 Osserverete dunque le mie leggi e le mie prescrizioni, mediante le quali, chiunque le metterà in pratica, vivrà. Io sono il Signore.
If you obey all my laws and decrees, you will continue to remain alive [for a long time]. I, Yahweh, [am the one who is promising that to you]. [These are some of my laws]:
6 Nessuno si accosterà a una sua consanguinea, per avere rapporti con lei. Io sono il Signore.
“Do not have sex with any of your close relatives. It is I, Yahweh, [who am commanding that].
7 Non recherai oltraggio a tuo padre avendo rapporti con tua madre: è tua madre; non scoprirai la sua nudità.
“Do not disgrace your father by having sex with your mother [DOU].
8 Non scoprirai la nudità della tua matrigna; è la nudità di tuo padre.
“Do not have sex with any of your father’s [other] wives, because that would disgrace your father.
9 Non scoprirai la nudità di tua sorella, figlia di tuo padre o figlia di tua madre, sia nata in casa o fuori.
“Do not have sex with your sister or your stepsister; it does not matter whether she was born in your house or somewhere else.
10 Non scoprirai la nudità della figlia di tuo figlio o della figlia di tua figlia, perché è la tua propria nudità.
“Do not have sex with your granddaughter, because that would disgrace you.
11 Non scoprirai la nudità della figlia della tua matrigna, generata nella tua casa: è tua sorella.
“Do not have sex with your half-sister, because she is your sister.
12 Non scoprirai la nudità della sorella di tuo padre; è carne di tuo padre.
“Do not have sex with your father’s sister, because she is your father’s close relative.
13 Non scoprirai la nudità della sorella di tua madre, perché è carne di tua madre.
“Do not have sex with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative.
14 Non scoprirai la nudità del fratello di tuo padre, cioè non ti accosterai alla sua moglie: è tua zia.
“Do not disgrace your (uncle/father’s brother) by having sex with his wife, because she is your aunt.
15 Non scoprirai la nudità di tua nuora: è la moglie di tuo figlio; non scoprirai la sua nudità.
“Do not have sex with [DOU] your daughter-in-law, because she is your son’s wife.
16 Non scoprirai la nudità di tua cognata: è la nudità di tuo fratello.
“Do not have sex with your brother’s wife, because that would disgrace your brother.
17 Non scoprirai la nudità di una donna e di sua figlia; né prenderai la figlia di suo figlio, né la figlia di sua figlia per scoprirne la nudità: sono parenti carnali: è un'infamia.
“Do not have sex with the daughter or granddaughter of any woman whom you have previously had sex with; they are [her] (OR, [your]) close relatives. Having sex with any of them would be a wicked thing to do.
18 E quanto alla moglie, non prenderai inoltre la sorella di lei, per farne una rivale, mentre tua moglie è in vita.
“While your wife is still living, do not marry your wife’s sister and have sex with her.
19 Non ti accosterai a donna per scoprire la sua nudità durante l'immondezza mestruale.
“Do not have sex with any woman while she is having her monthly menstrual period.
20 Non peccherai con la moglie del tuo prossimo per contaminarti con lei.
“Do not (defile yourself/make yourself unacceptable to me) by having sex with someone else’s wife.
21 Non lascerai passare alcuno dei tuoi figli a Moloch e non profanerai il nome del tuo Dio. Io sono il Signore.
“Do not give any of your children to be burned to be a sacrifice to the god Molech, because that would show that you do not revere me [MTY], Yahweh, your God.
22 Non avrai con maschio relazioni come si hanno con donna: è abominio.
“No man should have sex with another man; that is detestable.
23 Non ti abbrutirai con alcuna bestia per contaminarti con essa; la donna non si abbrutirà con una bestia; è una perversione.
“No one, man or woman, should (defile himself/cause himself to become unacceptable to me) by having sex with an animal; that is a perverse act.
24 Non vi contaminate con nessuna di tali nefandezze; poiché con tutte queste cose si sono contaminate le nazioni che io sto per scacciare davanti a voi.
“Do not (defile yourselves/cause yourselves to become unacceptable to me) in any of those ways, because doing those things is how the people of the nations that I expelled as you advanced became (unacceptable to me/defiled).
25 Il paese ne è stato contaminato; per questo ho punito la sua iniquità e il paese ha vomitato i suoi abitanti.
They even caused the land to become defiled, so I punished them for their sins, and [it was as though] the land vomited out the people who lived there.
26 Voi dunque osserverete le mie leggi e le mie prescrizioni e non commetterete nessuna di queste pratiche abominevoli: né colui che è nativo del paese, né il forestiero in mezzo a voi.
You must all obey my laws and decrees. That includes you people who were born here and the foreigners who live among you.
27 Poiché tutte queste cose abominevoli le ha commesse la gente che vi era prima di voi e il paese ne è stato contaminato.
All those detestable things were done by the people who lived in this land before you came here, and they caused the land to become defiled.
28 Badate che, contaminandolo, il paese non vomiti anche voi, come ha vomitato la gente che vi abitava prima di voi.
So if you defile the land, I will get rid of [MET] you like I got rid of the people of those nations that were here before you came.
29 Perché quanti commetteranno qualcuna di queste pratiche abominevoli saranno eliminati dal loro popolo.
“You must not allow people who do any of those detestable things to associate with you who are my people.
30 Osserverete dunque i miei ordini e non imiterete nessuno di quei costumi abominevoli che sono stati praticati prima di voi, né vi contaminerete con essi. Io sono il Signore, il Dio vostro».
Obey everything that I command you to do, and do not defile yourselves by practicing any of the detestable customs that were practiced [by the people who were there] before you came. I, Yahweh your God, [am the one who is commanding these things].”
