Lamentazioni 5
1 Ricordati, Signore, di quanto ci è accaduto, guarda e considera il nostro obbrobrio.
Remember, O YHWH, what has befallen us, Look attentively, and see our reproach.
2 La nostra eredità è passata a stranieri, le nostre case a estranei.
Our inheritance has been turned to strangers, Our houses to foreigners.
3 Orfani siam diventati, senza padre; le nostre madri come vedove.
Orphans we have been—without a father, our mothers [are] as widows.
4 L'acqua nostra beviamo per denaro, la nostra legna si acquista a pagamento.
We have drunk our water for money, Our wood comes for a price.
5 Con un giogo sul collo siamo perseguitati siamo sfiniti, non c'è per noi riposo.
For our neck we have been pursued, We have labored—there has been no rest for us.
6 All'Egitto abbiamo teso la mano, all'Assiria per saziarci di pane.
[To] Egypt we have given a hand, [To] Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
7 I nostri padri peccarono e non sono più, noi portiamo la pena delle loro iniquità.
Our fathers have sinned—they are not, We have borne their iniquities.
8 Schiavi comandano su di noi, non c'è chi ci liberi dalle loro mani.
Servants have ruled over us, There is no deliverer from their hand.
9 A rischio della nostra vita ci procuriamo il pane davanti alla spada nel deserto.
With our lives we bring in our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness.
10 La nostra pelle si è fatta bruciante come un forno a causa degli ardori della fame.
Our skin as an oven has been burning, Because of the raging of the famine.
11 Han disonorato le donne in Sion, le vergini nelle città di Giuda.
Wives in Zion they have humbled, Virgins—in cities of Judah.
12 I capi sono stati impiccati dalle loro mani, i volti degli anziani non sono stati rispettati.
Princes have been hanged by their hand, Elderly faces have not been honored.
13 I giovani han girato la mola; i ragazzi son caduti sotto il peso della legna.
They have taken young men to grind, And youths have stumbled with wood.
14 Gli anziani hanno disertato la porta, i giovani i loro strumenti a corda.
Elderly have ceased from the gate, Young men from their song.
15 La gioia si è spenta nei nostri cuori, si è mutata in lutto la nostra danza.
The joy of our heart has ceased, Our dancing has been turned to mourning.
16 E' caduta la corona dalla nostra testa; guai a noi, perché abbiamo peccato!
The crown has fallen [from] our head, Woe [is] now to us, for we have sinned.
17 Per questo è diventato mesto il nostro cuore, per tali cose si sono annebbiati i nostri occhi:
Our heart has been sick for this, Our eyes have been dim for these.
18 perché il monte di Sion è desolato; le volpi vi scorrazzano.
For the Mount of Zion—that is desolate, Foxes have gone up on it.
19 Ma tu, Signore, rimani per sempre, il tuo trono di generazione in generazione.
You, O YHWH, remain for all time, Your throne to generation and generation.
20 Perché ci vuoi dimenticare per sempre? Ci vuoi abbandonare per lunghi giorni?
Why do You forget us forever? You forsake us for [the] length of [our] days!
21 Facci ritornare a te, Signore, e noi ritorneremo; rinnova i nostri giorni come in antico,
Turn us back, O YHWH, to You, And we turn back, renew our days as of old.
22 poiché non ci hai rigettati per sempre, nè senza limite sei sdegnato contro di noi.
For have You utterly rejected us? You have been angry against us—exceedingly?
