Lamentazioni 3
1 Io sono l'uomo che ha provato la miseria sotto la sferza della sua ira.
I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 Egli mi ha guidato, mi ha fatto camminare nelle tenebre e non nella luce.
He has led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light.
3 Solo contro di me egli ha volto e rivolto la sua mano tutto il giorno.
Surely he turns his hand against me again and again all day long.
4 Egli ha consumato la mia carne e la mia pelle, ha rotto le mie ossa.
He has made my flesh and my skin old. He has broken my bones.
5 Ha costruito sopra di me, mi ha circondato di veleno e di affanno.
He has built against me, and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship.
6 Mi ha fatto abitare in luoghi tenebrosi come i morti da lungo tempo.
He has made me dwell in dark places, as those who have been long dead.
7 Mi ha costruito un muro tutt'intorno, perché non potessi più uscire; ha reso pesanti le mie catene.
He has walled me about, so that I cannot go out. He has made my chain heavy.
8 Anche se grido e invoco aiuto, egli soffoca la mia preghiera.
Yes, when I cry, and call for help, he shuts out my prayer.
9 Ha sbarrato le mie vie con blocchi di pietra, ha ostruito i miei sentieri.
He has walled up my ways with cut stone. He has made my paths crooked.
10 Egli era per me un orso in agguato, un leone in luoghi nascosti.
He is to me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in hiding.
11 Seminando di spine la mia via, mi ha lacerato, mi ha reso desolato.
He has turned away my path, and pulled me in pieces. He has made me desolate.
12 Ha teso l'arco, mi ha posto come bersaglio alle sue saette.
He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Ha conficcato nei miei fianchi le frecce della sua faretra.
He has caused the shafts of his quiver to enter into my kidneys.
14 Son diventato lo scherno di tutti i popoli, la loro canzone d'ogni giorno.
I have become a derision to all my people, and their song all day long.
15 Mi ha saziato con erbe amare, mi ha dissetato con assenzio.
He has filled me with bitterness. He has stuffed me with wormwood.
16 Mi ha spezzato con la sabbia i denti, mi ha steso nella polvere.
He has also broken my teeth with gravel. He has covered me with ashes.
17 Son rimasto lontano dalla pace, ho dimenticato il benessere.
You have removed my soul far away from peace. I forgot prosperity.
18 E dico: «E' sparita la mia gloria, la speranza che mi veniva dal Signore».
I said, “My strength has perished, along with my expectation from the LORD.”
19 Il ricordo della mia miseria e del mio vagare è come assenzio e veleno.
Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness.
20 Ben se ne ricorda e si accascia dentro di me la mia anima.
My soul still remembers them, and is bowed down within me.
21 Questo intendo richiamare alla mia mente, e per questo voglio riprendere speranza.
This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope.
22 Le misericordie del Signore non sono finite, non è esaurita la sua compassione;
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies do not fail.
23 esse son rinnovate ogni mattina, grande è la sua fedeltà.
They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
24 «Mia parte è il Signore - io esclamo - per questo in lui voglio sperare».
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul. “Therefore I will hope in him.”
25 Buono è il Signore con chi spera in lui, con l'anima che lo cerca.
The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
26 E' bene aspettare in silenzio la salvezza del Signore.
It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
27 E' bene per l'uomo portare il giogo fin dalla giovinezza.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 Sieda costui solitario e resti in silenzio, poiché egli glielo ha imposto;
Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he has laid it on him.
29 cacci nella polvere la bocca, forse c'è ancora speranza;
Let him put his mouth in the dust, if it is so that there may be hope.
30 porga a chi lo percuote la sua guancia, si sazi di umiliazioni.
Let him give his cheek to him who strikes him. Let him be filled full of reproach.
31 Poiché il Signore non rigetta mai...
For the Lord will not cast off forever.
32 Ma, se affligge, avrà anche pietà secondo la sua grande misericordia.
For though he causes grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.
33 Poiché contro il suo desiderio egli umilia e affligge i figli dell'uomo.
For he does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men.
34 Quando schiacciano sotto i loro piedi tutti i prigionieri del paese,
To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
35 quando falsano i diritti di un uomo in presenza dell'Altissimo,
to turn away the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
36 quando fan torto a un altro in una causa, forse non vede il Signore tutto ciò?
to subvert a man in his cause, the Lord does not approve.
37 Chi mai ha parlato e la sua parola si è avverata, senza che il Signore lo avesse comandato?
Who is he who says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord does not command it?
38 Dalla bocca dell'Altissimo non procedono forse le sventure e il bene?
Does not evil and good come out of the mouth of the Most High?
39 Perché si rammarica un essere vivente, un uomo, per i castighi dei suoi peccati?
Why should a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 «Esaminiamo la nostra condotta e scrutiamola, ritorniamo al Signore.
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
41 Innalziamo i nostri cuori al di sopra delle mani, verso Dio nei cieli.
Let’s lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens.
42 Abbiamo peccato e siamo stati ribelli; tu non ci hai perdonato.
“We have transgressed and have rebelled. You have not pardoned.
43 Ti sei avvolto nell'ira e ci hai perseguitati, hai ucciso senza pietà.
“You have covered us with anger and pursued us. You have killed. You have not pitied.
44 Ti sei avvolto in una nube, così che la supplica non giungesse fino a te.
You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.
45 Ci hai ridotti a spazzatura e rifiuto in mezzo ai popoli.
You have made us an off-scouring and refuse in the middle of the peoples.
46 Han spalancato la bocca contro di noi tutti i nostri nemici.
“All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us.
47 Terrore e trabocchetto sono la nostra sorte, desolazione e rovina».
Terror and the pit have come on us, devastation and destruction.”
48 Rivoli di lacrime scorrono dai miei occhi, per la rovina della figlia del mio popolo.
My eye runs down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 Il mio occhio piange senza sosta perché non ha pace
My eye pours down and does not cease, without any intermission,
50 finché non guardi e non veda il Signore dal cielo.
until the LORD looks down, and sees from heaven.
51 Il mio occhio mi tormenta per tutte le figlie della mia città.
My eye affects my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
52 Mi han dato la caccia come a un passero coloro che mi son nemici senza ragione.
They have chased me relentlessly like a bird, those who are my enemies without cause.
53 Mi han chiuso vivo nella fossa e han gettato pietre su di me.
They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and have cast a stone on me.
54 Son salite le acque fin sopra il mio capo; io dissi: «E' finita per me».
Waters flowed over my head. I said, “I am cut off.”
55 Ho invocato il tuo nome, o Signore, dalla fossa profonda.
I called on your name, LORD, out of the lowest dungeon.
56 Tu hai udito la mia voce: «Non chiudere l'orecchio al mio sfogo».
You heard my voice: “Do not hide your ear from my sighing, and my cry.”
57 Tu eri vicino quando ti invocavo, hai detto: «Non temere!».
You came near in the day that I called on you. You said, “Do not be afraid.”
58 Tu hai difeso, Signore, la mia causa, hai riscattato la mia vita.
Lord, you have pleaded the causes of my soul. You have redeemed my life.
59 Hai visto, o Signore, il torto che ho patito, difendi il mio diritto!
LORD, you have seen my wrong. Judge my cause.
60 Hai visto tutte le loro vendette, tutte le loro trame contro di me.
You have seen all their vengeance and all their plans against me.
61 Hai udito, Signore, i loro insulti, tutte le loro trame contro di me,
You have heard their reproach, LORD, and all their plans against me,
62 i discorsi dei miei oppositori e le loro ostilità contro di me tutto il giorno.
the lips of those that rose up against me, and their plots against me all day long.
63 Osserva quando siedono e quando si alzano; io sono la loro beffarda canzone.
You see their sitting down and their rising up. I am their song.
64 Rendi loro il contraccambio, o Signore, secondo l'opera delle loro mani.
You will pay them back, LORD, according to the work of their hands.
65 Rendili duri di cuore, la tua maledizione su di loro!
You will give them hardness of heart, your curse to them.
66 Perseguitali nell'ira e distruggili sotto il cielo, Signore.
You will pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of the LORD.
