Giosué 15
1 La porzione che toccò in sorte alla tribù dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie, si trova ai confini di Edom, dal deserto di Sin verso il Negheb, all'estremo sud.
[This] then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; [even] to the border of Edom, the wilderness of Zin southward [was] the uttermost part of the south border.
2 Il loro confine a mezzogiorno cominciava alla parte estrema del Mar Morto, dalla punta rivolta verso mezzodì,
And their south border was from the shore of the salt-sea, from the bay that looketh southward:
3 poi procedeva a sud della salita di Akrabbim, passava per Sin e risaliva a sud di Kades-Barnea; passava poi da Chezron, saliva ad Addar e girava verso Karkaa;
And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended on the south side to Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:
4 passava poi da Azmon e raggiungeva il torrente d'Egitto e faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà il vostro confine meridionale.
[From thence] it passed towards Azmon, and went out to the river of Egypt; and the limits of that border were at the sea: this shall be your south limit.
5 A oriente il confine era costituito dal Mar Morto fino alla foce del Giordano. Dal lato settentrionale il confine partiva dalla lingua di mare presso la foce del Giordano,
And the east border [was] the salt-sea, [even] to the end of Jordan: and [their] border in the north quarter [was] from the bay of the sea, at the uttermost part of Jordan:
6 saliva a Bet-Ogla e passava a nord di Bet-Araba e saliva alla Pietra di Bocan, figlio di Ruben.
And the border went up to Beth-hogla, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:
7 Poi il confine saliva a Debir, per la valle di Acor e, a nord, girava verso le curve, che sono di fronte alla salita di Adummin, a mezzogiorno del torrente; passava poi alle acque di En-Semes e faceva capo a En-Roghel.
And the border went up towards Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward looking towards Gilgal, that [is] before the going up to Adummim, which [is] on the south side of the river: and the border passed towards the waters of En-shemesh, and the borders of it were at En-rogel:
8 Saliva poi la valle di Ben-Innom a sud del fianco dei Gebusei, cioè di Gerusalemme; poi il confine saliva sulla vetta della montagna che domina la valle di Innom ad ovest ed è alla estremità della pianura dei Refaim, al nord.
And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom, to the south side of the Jebusite; the same [is] Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that [lieth] before the valley of Hinnom westward, which [is] at the end of the valley of the giants northward:
9 Poi il confine piegava dalla vetta della montagna verso la fonte delle Acque di Neftoach e usciva al monte Efron; piegava poi verso Baala, che è Kiriat-Iearim.
And the border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which [is] Kirjath-jearim:
10 Indi il confine girava da Baala, ad occidente, verso il monte Seir, passava sul pendio settentrionale del monte Iearim, cioè Chesalon, scendeva a Bet-Semes e passava a Timna.
And the border compassed from Baalah westward to mount Seir, and passed along to the side of mount Jearim (which [is] Chesalon) on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:
11 Poi il confine raggiungeva il pendio settentrionale di Ekron, quindi piegava verso Siccaron, passava per il monte Baala, raggiungeva Iabneel e terminava al mare.
And the border went out to the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out to Jabneel; and the terminations of the border were at the sea.
12 La frontiera occidentale era il Mar Mediterraneo. Questo era da tutti i lati il confine dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie.
And the west border [was] to the great sea, and its coast: this [is] the border of the children of Judah round about, according to their families.
13 A Caleb figlio di Iefunne fu data una parte in mezzo ai figli di Giuda, secondo l'ordine del Signore a Giosuè: fu data Kiriat-Arba, padre di Anak, cioè Ebron.
And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, [even] the city of Arba the father of Anak, which [city is] Hebron.
14 Caleb scacciò di là i tre figli di Anak, Sesai, Achiman e Talmai, discendenti di Anak.
And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
15 Di là passò ad assalire gli abitanti di Debir. Si chiamava Debir Kiriat-Sefer.
And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before [was] Kirjath-sepher.
16 Disse allora Caleb: «A chi colpirà Kiriat-Sefer e se ne impadronirà, io darò in moglie Acsa, mia figlia».
And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter for a wife.
17 Se ne impadronì Otniel, figlio di Kenaz, fratello di Caleb; a lui diede in moglie sua figlia Acsa.
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.
18 Quand'essa arrivò presso il marito, questi la persuase a chiedere un campo al padre. Allora essa smontò dall'asino e Caleb le disse: «Che fai?».
And it came to pass, as she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field. And she lighted off [her] ass; and Caleb said to her, What wouldst thou?
19 Gli disse: «Concedimi un favore. Poiché tu mi hai dato il paese del Negheb, dammi anche alcune sorgenti d'acqua». Le diede allora la sorgente superiore e la sorgente inferiore.
Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land, give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
20 Questa fu l'eredità della tribù dei figli di Giuda, secondo le loro famiglie.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.
21 Le città poste all'estremità della tribù dei figli di Giuda, verso il confine di Edom, nel Negheb, erano Kabseel, Eder, Iagur,
And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah towards the border of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,
22 Kina, Dimona, Arara,
And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,
23 Kedes, Cazor-Itnan,
And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,
24 Zif, Telem, Bealot,
Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,
25 Caroz-Adatta, Keriot-Chezron, cioè Cazor,
And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, [and] Hezron, which [is] Hazor,
26 Amam, Sema, Molada,
Aman, and Shema, and Moladah,
27 Cazar-Gadda, Esmon, Bet-Pelet,
And Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,
28 Cazar-Sual, Bersabea e le sue dipendenze,
And Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Bizjothjah,
29 Baala, Iim, Ezem,
Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,
30 Eltolad, Chesil, Corma,

32 Lebaot, Silchim, En-Rimmon: in tutto ventinove città e i loro villaggi.
And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities [are] twenty and nine, with their villages:
33 Nella Sefela: Estaol, Sorea, Asna,
[And] in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,
34 Zanoach, En-Gannim, Tappuach, Enam,
And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,
35 Iarmut, Adullam, Soco, Azeka,
Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,
36 Saaraim, Aditaim, Ghedera e Ghederotaim: quattordici città e i loro villaggi;
And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:
37 Senan, Cadasa, Migdal-Gad,
Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdalgad,
38 Dilean, Mizpe, Iokteel,
And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,
39 Lachis, Boskat, Eglon,
Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,
40 Cabbon, Lacmas, Chitlis,
And Cabbon, and Lahman, and Kithlish,
41 Ghederot, Bet-Dagon, Naama e Makkeda: sedici città e i loro villaggi;
And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages:
42 Libna, Eter, Asan,
Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan,
43 Iftach, Asna, Nesib,
And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,
44 Keila, Aczib e Maresa: nove città e i loro villaggi;
And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:
45 Ekron, le città del suo territorio e i suoi villaggi;
Ekron, with her towns and her villages:
46 da Ekron fino al mare, tutte le città vicine a Asdod e i loro villaggi;
From Ekron even to the sea, all that [lay] near Ashdod, with their villages:
47 Asdod, le città del suo territorio e i suoi villaggi; Gaza, le città del suo territorio e i suoi villaggi fino al torrente d'Egitto e al Mar Mediterraneo, che serve di confine.
Ashdod, with her towns and her villages; Gaza, with her towns and her villages, to the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and its border:
48 Sulle montagne: Samir, Iattir, Soco,
And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,
49 Danna, Kiriat-Sanna, cioè Debir,
And Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which [is] Debir,
50 Anab, Estemoa, Anim,
And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,
51 Gosen, Olon e Ghilo: undici città e i loro villaggi.
And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleven cities with their villages:
52 Arab, Duma, Esean,
Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,
53 Ianum, Bet-Tappuach, Afeka,
And Janum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,
54 Umta, Kiriat-Arba, cioè Ebron e Sior: nove città e i loro villaggi.
And Humtah, and Kirjath-arba (which [is] Hebron) and Zior; nine cities with their villages:
55 Maon, Carmelo, Zif, Iutta,
Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah,
56 Izreel, Iokdeam, Zanoach,
And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,
57 Kain, Ghibea e Timna: dieci città e i loro villaggi.
Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages:
58 Calcul, Bet-Sur, Ghedor,
Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,
59 Maarat, Bet-Anot e Eltekon: sei città e i loro villaggi. Tekoa, Efrata, cioè Betlemme, Peor, Etam, Culon, Tatam, Sores, Carem, Gallim, Beter, Manak: undici città e i loro villaggi.
And Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:
60 Kiriat-Baal, cioè Kiriat-Iearim, e Rabba: due città e i loro villaggi.
Kirjath-baal (which [is] Kirjath-jearim) and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:
61 Nel deserto: Bet-Araba, Middin, Secaca,
In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,
62 Nibsan, la città del sale e Engaddi: sei città e i loro villaggi.
And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.
63 Quanto ai Gebusei che abitavano in Gerusalemme, i figli di Giuda non riuscirono a scacciarli; così i Gebusei abitano a Gerusalemme insieme con i figli di Giuda fino ad oggi.
As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not expel them: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
