Aggeo 1
1 L'anno secondo del re Dario, il primo giorno del sesto mese, questa parola del Signore fu rivolta per mezzo del profeta Aggeo a Zorobabele figlio di Sealtièl, governatore della Giudea, e a Giosuè figlio di Iozedàk, sommo sacerdote.
In the second year of king Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord through means of Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, the governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
2 Così parla il Signore degli eserciti: Questo popolo dice: «Non è ancora venuto il tempo di ricostruire la casa del Signore!».
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, saying, This people have said, The time is not yet come, the time for the Lord's house to be built.
3 Allora questa parola del Signore fu rivelata per mezzo del profeta Aggeo:
And the word of the Lord came by means of Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 «Vi sembra questo il tempo di abitare tranquilli nelle vostre case ben coperte, mentre questa casa è ancora in rovina?
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your ceiled houses, while this house lieth in ruins?
5 Ora, così dice il Signore degli eserciti: riflettete bene al vostro comportamento.
Now therefore, thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Direct your heart unto your ways.
6 Avete seminato molto, ma avete raccolto poco; avete mangiato, ma non da togliervi la fame; avete bevuto, ma non fino a inebriarvi; vi siete vestiti, ma non vi siete riscaldati; l'operaio ha avuto il salario, ma per metterlo in un sacchetto forato.
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but it doth not satisfy hunger; ye drink, but it doth not appease thirst; ye clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he that earneth something earneth it for a bag with holes.
7 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Riflettete bene al vostro comportamento!
Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, Direct your heart to your ways.
8 Salite sul monte, portate legname, ricostruite la mia casa. In essa mi compiacerò e manifesterò la mia gloria - dice il Signore -.
Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house: that I may take pleasure in it, and be glorified, saith the Lord.
9 Facevate assegnamento sul molto e venne il poco: ciò che portavate in casa io lo disperdevo. E perché? - dice il Signore degli eserciti -. Perché la mia casa è in rovina, mentre ognuno di voi si dà premura per la propria casa.
[Till now] ye looked for much, and lo, it came to be little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. For what cause? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lieth in ruins, while ye run every man unto his own house.
10 Perciò su di voi i cieli hanno chiuso la rugiada e anche la terra ha diminuito il suo prodotto.
Therefore do the heavens for your sake withhold the dew, and the earth withholdeth her products.
11 Ho chiamato la siccità sulla terra e sui monti, sul grano e sul vino nuovo, sull'olio e su quanto la terra produce, sugli uomini e sugli animali, su ogni prodotto delle mani».
And I called for a drought over the land, and over the mountains, and over the corn, and over the new wine, and over the oil, and over what the ground bringeth forth, and over men, and over cattle, and over all the labor of the hands.
12 Zorobabele figlio di Sealtièl, e Giosuè figlio di Iozedàk, sommo sacerdote, e tutto il resto del popolo ascoltarono la parola del Signore loro Dio e le parole del profeta Aggeo, secondo la volontà del Signore che lo aveva loro inviato, e il popolo ebbe timore del Signore.
Then hearkened Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, unto the voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were afraid of the Lord.
13 Aggeo, messaggero del Signore, rivolto al popolo, disse secondo la missione del Signore: «Io sono con voi, oracolo del Signore».
Then said Haggai the messenger of the Lord by the Lord's message unto the people saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.
14 E il Signore destò lo spirito di Zorobabele figlio di Sealtièl governatore della Giudea e di Giosuè figlio di Iozedàk, sommo sacerdote, e di tutto il resto del popolo ed essi si mossero e intrapresero i lavori per la casa del Signore degli eserciti.
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, the governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came and did work on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God.
15 Questo avvenne il ventiquattro del sesto mese dell'anno secondo del re Dario.
On the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of king Darius.
