Deuteronomio 22
1 Se vedi smarriti un bue o una pecora di tuo fratello, tu non devi fingere di non averli scorti, ma avrai cura di ricondurli a tuo fratello.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his sheep go astray, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bring them again to thy brother.
2 Se tuo fratello non abita vicino a te e non lo conosci, accoglierai l'animale in casa tua: rimarrà da te finché tuo fratello non ne faccia ricerca e allora glielo renderai.
And if thy brother shall not [be] nigh to thee, or if thou shalt not know him, then thou shalt bring it to thy own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother shall seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
3 Lo stesso farai del suo asino, lo stesso della sua veste, lo stesso di qualunque altro oggetto che tuo fratello abbia perduto e che tu trovi; tu non fingerai di non averli scorti.
In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost things of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself.
4 Se vedi l'asino del tuo fratello o il suo bue caduto nella strada, tu non fingerai di non averli scorti, ma insieme con lui li farai rialzare.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fall down by the way, and hide thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift [them] up again.
5 La donna non si metterà un indumento da uomo né l'uomo indosserà una veste da donna; perché chiunque fa tali cose è in abominio al Signore tuo Dio.
A woman shall not wear that which pertaineth to a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination to the LORD thy God.
6 Quando, cammin facendo, troverai sopra un albero o per terra un nido d'uccelli con uccellini o uova e la madre che sta per covare gli uccellini o le uova, non prenderai la madre sui figli;
If a bird's nest shall chance to be before thee in the way on any tree, or on the ground, [whether with] young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7 ma scacciandola, lascia andar la madre e prendi per te i figli, perché tu sia felice e goda lunga vita.
[But] thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and [that] thou mayest prolong [thy] days.
8 Quando costruirai una casa nuova, farai un parapetto intorno alla tua terrazza, per non attirare sulla tua casa la vendetta del sangue, qualora uno cada di là.
When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou mayest not bring blood upon thy house, if any man shall fall from thence.
9 Non seminerai nella tua vigna semi di due specie diverse, perché altrimenti tutto il prodotto di ciò che avrai seminato e la rendita della vigna diventerà cosa consacrata.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, should be defiled.
10 Non devi arare con un bue e un asino aggiogati assieme.
Thou shalt not plow with an ox and an ass together.
11 Non ti vestirai con un tessuto misto, fatto di lana e di lino insieme.
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, [as] of woolen and linen together.
12 Metterai fiocchi alle quattro estremità del mantello con cui ti copri.
Thou shalt make thee fringes upon the four quarters of thy vesture, with which thou coverest [thyself].
13 Se un uomo sposa una donna e, dopo aver coabitato con lei, la prende in odio,
If any man shall take a wife, and go in to her, and hate her,
14 le attribuisce azioni scandalose e diffonde sul suo conto una fama cattiva, dicendo: Ho preso questa donna, ma quando mi sono accostato a lei non l'ho trovata in stato di verginità,
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15 il padre e la madre della giovane prenderanno i segni della verginità della giovane e li presenteranno agli anziani della città, alla porta.
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth [the tokens of] the damsel's virginity to the elders of the city in the gate:
16 Il padre della giovane dirà agli anziani: Ho dato mia figlia in moglie a quest'uomo; egli l'ha presa in odio
And the damsel's father shall say to the elders, I gave my daughter to this man for a wife, and he hateth her,
17 ed ecco le attribuisce azioni scandalose, dicendo: Non ho trovato tua figlia in stato di verginità; ebbene, questi sono i segni della verginità di mia figlia, e spiegheranno il panno davanti agli anziani della città.
And lo, he hath given occasions of speech [against her], saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these [are the tokens of] my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 Allora gli anziani di quella città prenderanno il marito e lo castigheranno
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 e gli imporranno un'ammenda di cento sicli d'argento, che daranno al padre della giovane, per il fatto che ha diffuso una cattiva fama contro una vergine d'Israele. Ella rimarrà sua moglie ed egli non potrà ripudiarla per tutto il tempo della sua vita.
And they shall amerce him in a hundred [shekels] of silver, and give [them] to the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20 Ma se la cosa è vera, se la giovane non è stata trovata in stato di verginità,
But if this thing shall be true, [and the tokens of] virginity be not found for the damsel:
21 allora la faranno uscire all'ingresso della casa del padre e la gente della sua città la lapiderà, così che muoia, perché ha commesso un'infamia in Israele, disonorandosi in casa del padre. Così toglierai il male di mezzo a te.
Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she may die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to be guilty of lewdness in her father's house: so shalt thou remove evil from among you.
22 Quando un uomo verrà colto in fallo con una donna maritata, tutti e due dovranno morire: l'uomo che ha peccato con la donna e la donna. Così toglierai il male da Israele.
If a man shall be found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou remove evil from Israel.
23 Quando una fanciulla vergine è fidanzata e un uomo, trovandola in città, pecca con lei,
If a damsel [that is] a virgin shall be betrothed to a husband, and a man shall find her in the city, and lie with her;
24 condurrete tutti e due alla porta di quella città e li lapiderete così che muoiano: la fanciulla, perché essendo in città non ha gridato, e l'uomo perché ha disonorato la donna del suo prossimo. Così toglierai il male da te.
Then ye shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they may die; the damsel, because she cried not, [being] in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbor's wife: so thou shalt remove evil from among you.
25 Ma se l'uomo trova per i campi la fanciulla fidanzata e facendole violenza pecca con lei, allora dovrà morire soltanto l'uomo che ha peccato con lei;
But if a man shall find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man shall force her, and lie with her; then the man only that lay with her shall die:
26 ma non farai nulla alla fanciulla. Nella fanciulla non c'è colpa degna di morte: come quando un uomo assale il suo prossimo e l'uccide, così è in questo caso,
But to the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and slayeth him, even so [is] this matter:
27 perché egli l'ha incontrata per i campi: la fanciulla fidanzata ha potuto gridare, ma non c'era nessuno per venirle in aiuto.
For he found her in the field, [and] the betrothed damsel cried, and [there was] none to save her.
28 Se un uomo trova una fanciulla vergine che non sia fidanzata, l'afferra e pecca con lei e sono colti in flagrante,
If a man shall find a damsel [that is] a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;
29 l'uomo che ha peccato con lei darà al padre della fanciulla cinquanta sicli d'argento; essa sarà sua moglie, per il fatto che egli l'ha disonorata, e non potrà ripudiarla per tutto il tempo della sua vita.
Then the man that lay with her shall give to the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
30 Nessuno sposerà una moglie del padre, né solleverà il lembo del mantello paterno.
A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.
