Deuteronomio 14

1 Voi siete figli per il Signore Dio vostro; non vi farete incisioni e non vi raderete tra gli occhi per un morto.

“You [are] sons of your God YHWH; you do not cut yourselves, nor make baldness between your eyes for the dead;

2 Tu sei infatti un popolo consacrato al Signore tuo Dio e il Signore ti ha scelto, perché tu fossi il suo popolo privilegiato, fra tutti i popoli che sono sulla terra.

for you [are] a holy people to your God YHWH, and YHWH has fixed on you to be to Him for a people, a peculiar treasure, out of all the peoples who [are] on the face of the ground.

3 Non mangerai alcuna cosa abominevole.

You do not eat any abomination;

4 Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare: il bue, la pecora e la capra;

this [is] the beast which you eat: ox, lamb of the sheep, or kid of the goats,

5 il cervo, la gazzella, il daino, lo stambecco, l'antilope, il bufalo e il camoscio.

deer, and roe, and fallow deer, and wild goat, and ibex, and antelope, and zemer;

6 Potrete mangiare di ogni quadrupede che ha l'unghia bipartita, divisa in due da una fessura, e che rumina.

and every beast dividing the hoof, and cleaving the cleft into two hooves, bringing up the cud, among the beasts—you eat it.

7 Ma non mangerete quelli che rùminano soltanto o che hanno soltanto l'unghia bipartita, divisa da una fessura e cioè il cammello, la lepre, l'ìrace, che rùminano ma non hanno l'unghia bipartita; considerateli immondi;

Only, this you do not eat, of those bringing up the cud, and of those dividing the cloven hoof: the camel, and the hare, and the hyrax, for they are bringing up the cud, but the hoof has not divided—they [are] unclean to you;

8 anche il porco, che ha l'unghia bipartita ma non rumina, lo considererete immondo. Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri.

and the sow, for it is dividing the hoof, and not [bringing] up the cud—it [is] unclean to you; you do not eat of their flesh, and you do not come against their carcass.

9 Fra tutti gli animali che vivono nelle acque potrete mangiare quelli che hanno pinne e squame;

This you eat of all which [are] in the waters: anything that has fins and scales you eat;

10 ma non mangerete nessuno di quelli che non hanno pinne e squame; considerateli immondi.

and anything which does not have fins and scales you do not eat—it [is] unclean to you.

11 Potrete mangiare qualunque uccello mondo;

Any clean bird you eat;

12 ecco quelli che non dovete mangiare:

and these [are] they of which you do not eat: the eagle, and the bearded vulture, and the osprey,

13 l'aquila, l'ossìfraga e l'aquila di mare, il nibbio e ogni specie di falco,

and the kite, and the falcon, and the vulture after its kind,

14 ogni specie di corvo,

and every raven after its kind;

15 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparviero,

and the ostrich, and the nightjar [[or male ostrich]], and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind;

16 il gufo, l'ibis, il cigno,

the little owl, and the great owl, and the waterhen,

17 il pellicano, la fòlaga, l'alcione,

and the pelican, and the Egyptian vulture, and the cormorant,

18 la cicogna, ogni specie di airone, l'ùpupa e il pipistrello.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

19 Considererete come immondo ogni insetto alato; non ne mangiate.

And every teeming thing which is flying—it [is] unclean to you; they are not eaten;

20 Potrete mangiare ogni uccello mondo.

any clean bird you eat.

21 Non mangerete alcuna bestia che sia morta di morte naturale; la darai al forestiero che risiede nelle tue città, perché la mangi, o la venderai a qualche straniero, perché tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore tuo Dio. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre.

You do not eat of any carcass; you give it to the sojourner who [is] within your gates, and he has eaten it; or sell [it] to a stranger; for you [are] a holy people to your God YHWH. You do not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.

22 Dovrai prelevare la decima da tutto il frutto della tua sementa, che il campo produce ogni anno.

You certainly tithe all the increase of your seed which the field is bringing forth year by year;

23 Mangerai davanti al Signore tuo Dio, nel luogo dove avrà scelto di stabilire il suo nome, la decima del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio e i primi parti del tuo bestiame grosso e minuto, perché tu impari a temere sempre il Signore tuo Dio.

and you have eaten before your God YHWH, in the place where He chooses to cause His Name to dwell, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd, and of your flock, so that you learn to fear your God YHWH [for] all the days.

24 Ma se il cammino è troppo lungo per te e tu non puoi trasportare quelle decime, perché è troppo lontano da te il luogo dove il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto di stabilire il suo nome - perché il Signore tuo Dio ti avrà benedetto -,

And when the way is too much for you, that you are not able to carry it—when the place is too far off from you which your God YHWH chooses to put His Name there, when your God YHWH blesses you—

25 allora le convertirai in denaro e tenendolo in mano andrai al luogo che il Signore tuo Dio avrà scelto,

then you have given [it] in money, and have bound up the money in your hand, and gone to the place on which your God YHWH fixes;

26 e lo impiegherai per comprarti quanto tu desideri: bestiame grosso o minuto, vino, bevande inebrianti o qualunque cosa di tuo gusto e mangerai davanti al Signore tuo Dio e gioirai tu e la tua famiglia.

and you have given the money for anything which your soul desires, for oxen, and for sheep, and for wine, and for strong drink, and for anything which your soul asks for, and you have eaten before your God YHWH there, and you have rejoiced, you and your house.

27 Il levita che abita entro le tue città, non lo abbandonerai, perché non ha parte né eredità con te.

As for the Levite who [is] within your gates, you do not forsake him, for he has no portion and inheritance with you.

28 Alla fine di ogni triennio metterai da parte tutte le decime del tuo provento del terzo anno e le deporrai entro le tue città;

At the end of three years you bring out all the tithe of your increase in that year, and have placed [it] within your gates;

29 il levita, che non ha parte né eredità con te, l'orfano e la vedova che saranno entro le tue città, verranno, mangeranno e si sazieranno, perché il Signore tuo Dio ti benedica in ogni lavoro a cui avrai messo mano.

and the Levite has come in—for he has no part and inheritance with you—and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, who [are] within your gates, and they have eaten, and been satisfied, so that your God YHWH blesses you in all the work of your hand which you do.”
