Daniele 6
1 Volle Dario costituire nel suo regno centoventi sàtrapi e ripartirli per tutte le province.
It pleased Daryavesh to set over the kingdom one hundred twenty satraps, who should be throughout the whole kingdom;
2 A capo dei sàtrapi mise tre governatori, di cui uno fu Daniele, ai quali i sàtrapi dovevano render conto perché nessun danno ne
and over them three administrators, of whom Daniel was one; that these satraps might give account to them, and that the king might not suffer loss.
3 soffrisse il re. Ora Daniele era superiore agli altri governatori e ai sàtrapi, perché possedeva uno spirito eccezionale, tanto che il re pensava di metterlo a capo di tutto il suo regno.
Then this Daniel was distinguished above the administrators and the satraps, because an extraordinary spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4 Perciò tanto i governatori che i sàtrapi cercavano il modo di trovar qualche pretesto contro Daniele nell'amministrazione del regno. Ma non potendo trovare nessun motivo di accusa né colpa, perché egli era fedele e non aveva niente da farsi rimproverare,
Then the administrators and the satraps sought to find a charge against Daniel regarding the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful. Neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5 quegli uomini allora pensarono: «Non possiamo trovare altro pretesto per accusare Daniele, se non nella legge del suo Dio».
Then these men said, "We will not find any charge against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God."
6 Perciò quei governatori e i sàtrapi si radunarono presso il re e gli dissero: «Re Dario, vivi per sempre!
Then these administrators and satraps assembled together to the king, and said this to him, "King Daryavesh, live forever.
7 Tutti i governatori del regno, i magistrati, i sàtrapi, i consiglieri e i capi sono del parere che venga pubblicato un severo decreto del re secondo il quale chiunque, da ora a trenta giorni, rivolga supplica alcuna a qualsiasi dio o uomo all'infuori di te, o re, sia gettato nella fossa dei leoni.
All the administrators of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a strong decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8 Ora, o re, emana il decreto e fallo mettere per iscritto, perché sia irrevocabile, come sono le leggi di Media e di Persia, che non si possono mutare».
Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it not be changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed."
9 Allora il re Dario fece scrivere il decreto.
Therefore king Daryavesh signed the writing and the decree.
10 Daniele, quando venne a sapere del decreto del re, si ritirò in casa. Le finestre della sua stanza si aprivano verso Gerusalemme e tre volte al giorno si metteva in ginocchio a pregare e lodava il suo Dio, come era solito fare anche prima.
When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house (now his windows were open in his chamber toward Jerusalem) and he kneeled on his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.
11 Allora quegli uomini accorsero e trovarono Daniele che stava pregando e supplicando il suo Dio.
Then these men assembled together, and found Daniel making petition and petition before his God.
12 Subito si recarono dal re e gli dissero riguardo al divieto del re: «Non hai tu scritto un decreto che chiunque, da ora a trenta giorni, rivolga supplica a qualsiasi dio o uomo, all'infuori di te, re, sia gettato nella fossa dei leoni?». Il re rispose: «Sì. Il decreto è irrevocabile come lo sono le leggi dei Medi e dei Persiani».
Then they came near, and spoke before the king concerning the king's decree. "Haven't you signed a decree, that every man who shall make petition to any god or man within thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" The king answered, "The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed."
13 «Ebbene - replicarono al re - Daniele, quel deportato dalla Giudea, non ha alcun rispetto né di te, re, né del tuo decreto: tre volte al giorno fa le sue preghiere».
Then they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is of the children of the captivity of Judah, doesn't regard you, O king, nor the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day."
14 Il re, all'udir queste parole, ne fu molto addolorato e si mise in animo di salvare Daniele e fino al tramonto del sole fece ogni sforzo per liberarlo.
Then the king, when he heard these words, was very displeased, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him. And he labored until the going down of the sun to rescue him.
15 Ma quegli uomini si riunirono di nuovo presso il re e gli dissero: «Sappi, re, che i Medi e i Persiani hanno per legge che qualunque decreto firmato dal re è irrevocabile».
Then these men assembled together to the king, and said to the king, "Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians, that no decree nor statute which the king establishes may be changed."
16 Allora il re ordinò che si prendesse Daniele e si gettasse nella fossa dei leoni. Il re, rivolto a Daniele, gli disse: «Quel Dio, che tu servi con perseveranza, ti possa salvare!».
Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said to Daniel, "Your God whom you serve continually, he will deliver you."
17 Poi fu portata una pietra e fu posta sopra la bocca della fossa: il re la sigillò con il suo anello e con l'anello dei suoi grandi, perché niente fosse mutato sulla sorte di Daniele.
A stone was brought, and placed on the opening of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.
18 Quindi il re ritornò alla reggia, passò la notte digiuno, non gli fu introdotta alcuna donna e anche il sonno lo abbandonò.
Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting; neither were instruments of music brought before him. And his sleep fled from him.
19 La mattina dopo il re si alzò di buon'ora e sullo spuntar del giorno andò in fretta alla fossa dei leoni.
Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste to the den of lions.
20 Quando fu vicino, chiamò: «Daniele, servo del Dio vivente, il tuo Dio che tu servi con perseveranza ti ha potuto salvare dai leoni?».
When he came near to the den to Daniel, he cried with a lamentable voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, "Daniel, servant of the living God. Is your God, whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions?"
21 Daniele rispose: «Re, vivi per sempre.
Then said Daniel to the king, "O king, live forever.
22 Il mio Dio ha mandato il suo angelo che ha chiuso le fauci dei leoni ed essi non mi hanno fatto alcun male, perché sono stato trovato innocente davanti a lui; ma neppure contro di te, o re, ho commesso alcun male».
My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions' mouths, and they have not hurt me; because before him innocence was found in me; and also before you, O king, have I done no wrong."
23 Il re fu pieno di gioia e comandò che Daniele fosse tirato fuori dalla fossa. Appena uscito, non si riscontrò in lui lesione alcuna, poiché egli aveva confidato nel suo Dio.
Then was the king exceedingly glad, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
24 Quindi, per ordine del re, fatti venire quegli uomini che avevano accusato Daniele, furono gettati nella fossa dei leoni insieme con i figli e le mogli. Non erano ancor giunti al fondo della fossa, che i leoni furono loro addosso e stritolarono tutte le loro ossa.
The king commanded, and they brought those men who had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces, before they came to the bottom of the den.
25 Allora il re Dario scrisse a tutti i popoli, nazioni e lingue, che abitano tutta la terra: «Pace e prosperità.
Then king Daryavesh wrote to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in all the earth: "Peace be multiplied to you.
26 perché egli è il Dio vivente, che dura in eterno; il suo regno è tale che non sarà mai distrutto e il suo dominio non conosce fine. Per mio comando viene promulgato questo decreto: In tutto l'impero a me soggetto si onori e si tema il Dio di Daniele,
I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and steadfast forever. His kingdom shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be to the end.
27 Egli salva e libera, fa prodigi e miracoli in cielo e in terra: egli ha liberato Daniele dalle fauci dei leoni».
He delivers and rescues, and he works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."
28 Questo Daniele prosperò durante il regno di Dario e il regno di Ciro il Persiano.
So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Daryavesh, and in the reign of Koresh the Persian.
