1 Ci sono stati anche falsi profeti tra il popolo, come pure ci saranno in mezzo a voi falsi maestri che introdurranno eresie perniciose, rinnegando il Signore che li ha riscattati e attirandosi una pronta rovina.
But there were indeed false prophets among the people of old, as there will be also among you false teachers, who will privately introduce pernicious heresies, denying even the Lord that bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction,
2 Molti seguiranno le loro dissolutezze e per colpa loro la via della verità sarà coperta di impropèri.
And many will follow their pernicious tenets, on whose account the way of truth will be reproached:
3 Nella loro cupidigia vi sfrutteranno con parole false; ma la loro condanna è gia da tempo all'opera e la loro rovina è in agguato.
and by artful speeches they will make sale of you for gain. Whose judgement is long since hastening, and their destruction doth not slumber.
4 Dio infatti non risparmiò gli angeli che avevano peccato, ma li precipitò negli abissi tenebrosi dell'inferno, serbandoli per il giudizio; (Tartaroō g5020)
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgement; and if He spared not the old world, (Tartaroō g5020)
5 non risparmiò il mondo antico, ma tuttavia con altri sette salvò Noè, banditore di giustizia, mentre faceva piombare il diluvio su un mondo di empi;
(but preserved Noah an eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, ) bringing a deluge upon the world of the ungodly;
6 condannò alla distruzione le città di Sòdoma e Gomorra, riducendole in cenere, ponendo un esempio a quanti sarebbero vissuti empiamente.
and reducing the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha to ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those that should afterwards be impious;
7 Liberò invece il giusto Lot, angustiato dal comportamento immorale di quegli scellerati.
and delivered righteous Lot grieved at the lewd conversation of the wicked:
8 Quel giusto infatti, per ciò che vedeva e udiva mentre abitava in mezzo a loro, si tormentava ogni giorno nella sua anima giusta per tali ignominie.
(for that good man by seeing and hearing their crimes, when he dwelt among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day with their
9 Il Signore sa liberare i pii dalla prova e serbare gli empi per il castigo nel giorno del giudizio,
iniquitous deeds) then the Lord knoweth how to deliver the pious from temptation, and to reserve the wicked to the day of judgement to be punished:
10 soprattutto coloro che nelle loro impure passioni vanno dietro alla carne e disprezzano il Signore. Temerari, arroganti, non temono d'insultare gli esseri gloriosi decaduti,
especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority; who, being audacious and self-willed, are not afraid to speak evil of dignities:
11 mentre gli angeli, a loro superiori per forza e potenza, non portano contro di essi alcun giudizio offensivo davanti al Signore.
whereas angels, who are greater in strength and power, bring not a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.
12 Ma costoro, come animali irragionevoli nati per natura a essere presi e distrutti, mentre bestemmiano quel che ignorano, saranno distrutti nella loro corruzione,
But these men, like brute beasts naturally produced to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil of things which they do not understand, shall perish by their own corruption; receiving the reward of their unrighteousness:
13 subendo il castigo come salario dell'iniquità. Essi stimano felicità il piacere d'un giorno; sono tutta sporcizia e vergogna; si dilettano dei loro inganni mentre fan festa con voi;
who account it a pleasure to riot even in the day; spots and disgraces; revelling in their frauds, while they partake of your feasts:
14 han gli occhi pieni di disonesti desideri e sono insaziabili di peccato, adescano le anime instabili, hanno il cuore rotto alla cupidigia, figli di maledizione!
having eyes full of adultery, and which cannot be restrained from sin: ensnaring unstable souls, and having a heart practised in rapine; cursed people:
15 Abbandonata la retta via, si sono smarriti seguendo la via di Balaàm di Bosòr, che amò un salario di iniquità,
who have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of iniquity;
16 ma fu ripreso per la sua malvagità: un muto giumento, parlando con voce umana, impedì la demenza del profeta.
but was reproved for his transgression: for a dumb beast speaking with the voice of a man checked the madness of the prophet.
17 Costoro sono come fonti senz'acqua e come nuvole sospinte dal vento: a loro è riserbata l'oscurità delle tenebre.
These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm, for whom thick darkness is reserved for ever. (questioned)
18 Con discorsi gonfiati e vani adescano mediante le licenziose passioni della carne coloro che si erano appena allontanati da quelli che vivono nell'errore.
For when they speak swelling words of vanity, they ensnare in the lusts of the flesh, through their lasciviousness, those who had indeed withdrawn from such as deal in error;
19 Promettono loro libertà, ma essi stessi sono schiavi della corruzione. Perché uno è schiavo di ciò che l'ha vinto.
promising them liberty, while they themselves are the slaves of corruption: for by whom any one is vanquished, by him he is also enslaved.
20 Se infatti, dopo aver fuggito le corruzioni del mondo per mezzo della conoscenza del Signore e salvatore Gesù Cristo, ne rimangono di nuovo invischiati e vinti, la loro ultima condizione è divenuta peggiore della prima.
For if, after they had escaped the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled and vanquished by them, their last state is worse than the first;
21 Meglio sarebbe stato per loro non aver conosciuto la via della giustizia, piuttosto che, dopo averla conosciuta, voltar le spalle al santo precetto che era stato loro dato.
for it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than when they knew it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
22 Il cane è tornato al suo vomito e la scrofa lavata è tornata ad avvoltolarsi nel brago. Si è verificato per essi il proverbio:
But it is happened to them according to the true proverb, The dog is returned to his own vomit, and, The swine that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
