2 Cronache 34
1 Quando Giosia divenne re, aveva otto anni; regnò trentun anni in Gerusalemme.
Josiah [is] a son of eight years in his reigning, and he has reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem,
2 Egli fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore e seguì le strade di Davide suo antenato, senza fuorviare in nulla.
and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH, and walks in the ways of his father David, and has not turned aside [to] the right or left.
3 Nell'anno ottavo del suo regno, era ancora un ragazzo, cominciò a ricercare il Dio di Davide suo padre. Nell'anno decimosecondo cominciò a purificare Giuda e Gerusalemme, eliminando le alture, i pali sacri e gli idoli scolpiti o fusi.
And in the eighth year of his reign (and he [is] yet a youth), he has begun to seek for the God of his father David, and in the twelfth year he has begun to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4 Sotto i suoi occhi furono demoliti gli altari di Baal; infranse gli altari per l'incenso, che vi erano sopra; distrusse i pali sacri e gli idoli scolpiti o fusi, riducendoli in polvere che sparse sui sepolcri di coloro che avevano sacrificato a tali cose.
And they break down the altars of the Ba‘alim before him, and he has cut down the images that [are] on high above them, and the Asherim, and the carved images, and the molten images, he has broken and beaten small, and strews [them] on the surface of the graves of those sacrificing to them,
5 Le ossa dei sacerdoti le bruciò sui loro altari; così purificò Giuda e Gerusalemme.
and he has burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and cleanses Judah and Jerusalem,
6 Lo stesso fece nella città di Manàsse, di Efraim e di Simeone fino a Nèftali, nei loro villaggi devastati.
and in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even to Naphtali, with their tools, all around.
7 Demolì gli altari; fece a pezzi i pali sacri e gli idoli in modo da ridurli in polvere; demolì tutti gli altari per l'incenso in tutto il paese di Israele; poi fece ritorno a Gerusalemme.
And he breaks down the altars and the Asherim, and he has beaten down the carved images very small, and he has cut down all the images in all the land of Israel, and turns back to Jerusalem.
8 Nell'anno decimottavo del suo regno, dopo aver purificato il paese e il tempio, affidò a Safàn figlio di Asalia, a Maaseia governatore della città, e a Ioach figlio di Ioacaz, archivista, il restauro del tempio del Signore suo Dio.
And in the eighteenth year of his reign, to purify the land and the house, he has sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah head of the city, and Joah son of Johaz the remembrancer, to strengthen the house of his God YHWH.
9 Costoro si presentarono al sommo sacerdote Chelkia e gli consegnarono il denaro depositato nel tempio; l'avevano raccolto i leviti custodi della soglia da Manàsse, da Efraim e da tutto il resto di Israele, da tutto Giuda, da Beniamino e dagli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
And they come to Hilkiah the high priest, and they give the money that is brought into the house of God, that the Levites, keeping the threshold, have gathered from the hand of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and from all the remnant of Israel, and from all Judah, and Benjamin, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
10 Lo misero in mano ai direttori dei lavori che sovraintendevano al tempio ed essi l'utilizzarono per gli operai che lavoravano nel tempio per restaurarlo e rafforzarlo.
and they give [it] into the hand of the workmen, those appointed over the house of YHWH, and they give it [to] the workmen who are working in the house of YHWH, to repair and to strengthen the house;
11 Lo diedero ai falegnami e ai muratori per l'acquisto di pietre da taglio e di legname per l'armatura e la travatura dei locali lasciati rovinare dai re di Giuda.
and they give [it] to craftsmen and to builders to buy hewn stones, and wood for couplings and for beams [for] the houses that the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12 Quegli uomini lavoravano con fedeltà; erano stati loro preposti per la direzione Iacat e Abdia, leviti dei figli di Merari, Zaccaria e Mesullàm, Keatiti. Leviti esperti di strumenti musicali
And the men are working faithfully in the business, and over them are appointed Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathite, to overlook; and of the Levites, everyone understanding about instruments of song,
13 sorvegliavano i portatori e dirigevano quanti compivano lavori di qualsiasi genere; altri leviti erano scribi, ispettori e portieri.
and over the burden-bearers, and overseers of everyone doing work for every service; and of the Levites [are] scribes, and officers, and gatekeepers.
14 Mentre si prelevava il denaro depositato nel tempio, il sacerdote Chelkia trovò il libro della legge del Signore, data per mezzo di Mosè.
And in their bringing out the money that is brought into the house of YHWH, Hilkiah the priest has found the Scroll of the Law of YHWH by the hand of Moses,
15 Chelkia prese la parola e disse allo scriba Safàn: «Ho trovato nel tempio il libro della legge». Chelkia diede il libro a Safàn.
and Hilkiah answers and says to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found [the] Scroll of the Law in the house of YHWH”; and Hilkiah gives the scroll to Shaphan,
16 Safàn portò il libro dal re; egli inoltre riferì al re: «Quanto è stato ordinato, i tuoi servitori lo eseguiscono.
and Shaphan brings in the scroll to the king, and brings the king back word again, saying, “All that has been given into the hand of your servants they are doing,
17 Hanno versato il denaro trovato nel tempio e l'hanno consegnato ai sorveglianti e ai direttori dei lavori».
and they pour out the money that is found in the house of YHWH, and give it into the hand of those appointed and into the hands of those doing the work.”
18 Poi lo scriba Safàn annunziò al re: «Il sacerdote Chelkia mi ha dato un libro». Safàn ne lesse una parte alla presenza del re.
And Shaphan the scribe declares [it] to the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given a scroll to me”; and Shaphan reads in it before the king.
19 Udite le parole della legge, il re si strappò le vesti
And it comes to pass, at the king’s hearing the words of the Law, that he tears his garments,
20 e comandò a Chelkia, ad Achikam figlio di Safàn, ad Abdon figlio di Mica, allo scriba Safàn e ad Asaia ministro del re:
and the king commands Hilkiah, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Abdon son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah, servant of the king, saying,
21 «Andate, consultate il Signore per me e per quanti sono rimasti in Israele e in Giuda riguardo alle parole di questo libro ora trovato; grande infatti è la collera del Signore, che si è accesa contro di noi, poiché i nostri padri non hanno ascoltato le parole del Signore facendo quanto sta scritto in questo libro».
“Go, seek YHWH for me, and for him who is left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the scroll that is found, for great [is] the fury of YHWH that is poured on us, because that our fathers did not keep the word of YHWH to do according to all that is written on this scroll.”
22 Chelkia insieme con coloro che il re aveva designati si recò dalla profetessa Culda moglie di Sallùm, figlio di Tokat, figlio di Casra, il guardarobiere; essa abitava nel secondo quartiere di Gerusalemme. Le parlarono in tal senso
And Hilkiah goes, and they of the king, to Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum son of Tikvath, son of Hasrah, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the Second [Quarter], and they speak to her thus.
23 ed essa rispose loro: «Dice il Signore Dio di Israele: Riferite all'uomo che vi ha inviati da me:
And she says to them, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Say to the man who has sent you to me,
24 Dice il Signore: Ecco, io farò piombare una sciagura su questo luogo e sui suoi abitanti, tutte le maledizioni scritte nel libro letto davanti al re di Giuda,
Thus said YHWH: Behold, I am bringing in calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, all the execrations that are written on the scroll that they read before the king of Judah,
25 perché hanno abbandonato me e hanno bruciato incenso ad altri dei provocandomi a sdegno con tutte le opere delle loro mani. La mia collera si accenderà contro questo luogo e non si potrà spegnere.
because that they have forsaken Me, and make incense to other gods, so as to provoke Me with all the works of their hands, and My fury is poured out on this place, and it is not quenched.
26 Al re di Giuda, che vi ha inviati a consultare il Signore, riferirete: Dice il Signore, Dio di Israele: A proposito delle parole che hai udito,
And to the king of Judah who is sending you to inquire of YHWH, thus you say to him, Thus said YHWH God of Israel, whose words you have heard:
27 poiché il tuo cuore si è intenerito e ti sei umiliato davanti a Dio, udendo le mie parole contro questo luogo e contro i suoi abitanti; poiché ti sei umiliato davanti a me, ti sei strappate le vesti e hai pianto davanti a me, anch'io ho ascoltato. Oracolo del Signore!
Because your heart [is] tender, and you are humbled before God in your hearing His words concerning this place and concerning its inhabitants, and are humbled before Me, and tear your garments, and weep before Me, indeed, I have also heard [you]—a declaration of YHWH.
28 Ecco, io ti riunirò con i tuoi padri e sarai deposto nel tuo sepolcro in pace. I tuoi occhi non vedranno tutta la sciagura che io farò piombare su questo luogo e sui suoi abitanti». Quelli riferirono il messaggio al re.
Behold, I am gathering you to your fathers, and you have been gathered to your graves in peace, and your eyes do not look on all the calamity that I am bringing on this place and on its inhabitants”; and they bring the king back word.
29 Allora il re inviò dei messi e radunò tutti gli anziani di Giuda e di Gerusalemme.
And the king sends and gathers all the elderly of Judah and Jerusalem,
30 Il re, insieme con tutti gli uomini di Giuda, con gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, i sacerdoti, i leviti e tutto il popolo, dal più grande al più piccolo, salì al tempio. Egli fece leggere ai loro orecchi tutte le parole del libro dell'alleanza, trovato nel tempio.
and the king goes up to the house of YHWH, and [to] every man of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, even all the people, from great even to small, and he reads in their ears all the words of the scroll of the covenant that is found in the house of YHWH.
31 Il re, stando in piedi presso la colonna, concluse un'alleanza davanti al Signore, impegnandosi a seguire il Signore, a osservarne i comandi, le leggi e i decreti con tutto il cuore e con tutta l'anima, eseguendo le parole dell'alleanza scritte in quel libro.
And the king stands on his station, and makes the covenant before YHWH to walk after YHWH, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all his heart and with all his soul, to do the words of the covenant that are written on this scroll.
32 Fece impegnare quanti si trovavano in Gerusalemme e in Beniamino. Gli abitanti di Gerusalemme agirono secondo l'alleanza di Dio, del Dio dei loro padri.
And he presents everyone who is found in Jerusalem and Benjamin, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem do according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33 Giosia rimosse tutti gli abomini da tutti i territori appartenenti agli Israeliti; costrinse quanti si trovavano in Israele a servire il Signore loro Dio. Finché egli visse non desistettero dal seguire il Signore, Dio dei loro padri.
And Josiah turns aside all the abominations out of all the lands that the sons of Israel have, and causes everyone who is found in Israel to serve, to serve their God YHWH; all his days they did not turn aside from after YHWH, God of their fathers.
