2 Cronache 12

1 Quando il regno fu consolidato ed egli si sentì forte, Roboamo abbandonò la legge del Signore e tutto Israele lo seguì.

And when Rehoboam had established the kingdome and made it strong, hee forsooke the Lawe of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 Nell'anno quinto del re Roboamo, Sisach re d'Egitto marciò contro Gerusalemme, perché i suoi abitanti si erano ribellati al Signore.

Therefore in the fift yeere of King Rehoboam, Shishak the King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem (because they had transgressed against the Lord)

3 Egli aveva milleduecento carri, sessantamila cavalli. Coloro che erano venuti con lui dall'Egitto non si contavano: Libi, Succhei ed Etiopi.

With twelue hundreth charets, and three score thousande horsemen, and the people were without nomber, that came with him from Egypt, euen the Lubims, Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

4 Egli prese le fortezze di Giuda e giunse fino a Gerusalemme.

And he tooke the strong cities which were of Iudah, and came vnto Ierusalem.

5 Il profeta Semaia si presentò a Roboamo e agli ufficiali di Giuda, che si erano raccolti in Gerusalemme per paura di Sisach, e disse loro: «Dice il Signore: Voi mi avete abbandonato, perciò anch'io vi ho abbandonati nelle mani di Sisach».

Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak.

6 Allora i capi di Israele e il re si umiliarono e dissero: «Giusto è il Signore!».

Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust.

7 Poiché si erano umiliati, il Signore parlò a Semaia: «Si sono umiliati e io non li distruggerò. Anzi concederò loro la liberazione fra poco; la mia ira non si rovescerà su Gerusalemme per mezzo di Sisach.

And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 Tuttavia essi saranno a lui sottomessi; così conosceranno la differenza fra la sottomissione a me e quella ai regni delle nazioni».

Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth.

9 Sisach, re d'Egitto, venne a Gerusalemme e prese i tesori del tempio e i tesori della reggia, li vuotò. Prese anche gli scudi d'oro fatti da Salomone.

Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made.

10 Il re Roboamo li sostituì con scudi di bronzo, che affidò agli ufficiali delle guardie addette alla reggia.

In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house.

11 Ogni volta che il re andava nel tempio, le guardie li prendevano, quindi li riportavano nella sala delle guardie.

And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber.

12 Perché Roboamo si era umiliato, lo sdegno del Signore si ritirò da lui e non lo distrusse del tutto. Anzi in Giuda ci furono avvenimenti felici.

And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered.

13 Il re Roboamo si consolidò in Gerusalemme e regnò. Quando divenne re, Roboamo aveva quarantun anni; regnò diciassette anni in Gerusalemme, città scelta dal Signore fra tutte le tribù di Israele per porvi il suo nome. Sua madre, ammonita, si chiamava Naama.

So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse.

14 Egli fece il male, perché non aveva applicato il cuore alla ricerca del Signore.

And he did euill: for hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord.

15 Le gesta di Roboamo, le prime e le ultime, sono descritte negli atti del profeta Semaia e del veggente Iddo, secondo le genealogie. Ci furono guerre continue fra Roboamo e Geroboamo.

The actes also of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and Iddo the Seer, in rehearsing the genealogie? and there was warre alway betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam.

16 Roboamo si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Abia.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
