1 Samuele 10
1 Samuele prese allora l'ampolla dell'olio e gliela versò sulla testa, poi lo baciò dicendo: «Ecco: il Signore ti ha unto capo sopra Israele suo popolo. Tu avrai potere sul popolo del Signore e tu lo libererai dalle mani dei nemici che gli stanno intorno. Questo ti sarà il segno che proprio il Signore ti ha unto capo sulla sua casa:
Then took Samuel a flask of oil, and poured out upon his head, and kissed him, —and said—Is it not, that Yahweh hath anointed thee over his inheritance, as leader?
2 oggi, quando sarai partito da me, troverai due uomini presso il sepolcro di Rachele sul confine con Beniamino in Zelzach. Essi ti diranno: Sono state ritrovate le asine che sei andato a cercare. Ecco tuo padre non bada più alla faccenda delle asine, ma è preoccupato di voi e va dicendo: Che devo fare per mio figlio?
When thou departest, to-day, from me, then shalt thou find two men by the grave of Rachel, within the boundary of Benjamin, in Zelzah, —and they will say unto thee, The asses are found, which thou wentest to seek, and lo! thy father hath abandoned caring for the asses, and is concerned for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?
3 Passerai in fretta di là e andrai oltre; quando arriverai alla quercia del Tabor, vi troverete tre uomini in viaggio per salire a Dio in Betel: uno porterà tre capretti, l'altro porterà tre pani rotondi, il terzo porterà un otre di vino.
Then shalt thou pass on quickly from thence onwards, and come as far as the oak of Tabor, and there shall find thee there, three men going up unto God, at Bethel, —one, carrying three kids, and, another, carrying three cakes of bread, and, another, carrying a skin of wine;
4 Ti domanderanno se stai bene e ti daranno due pani, che tu prenderai dalle loro mani.
then will they ask thee, of thy welfare, —and give thee two cakes of bread, which thou shalt receive at their hand.
5 Giungerai poi a Gàbaa di Dio, dove c'è una guarnigione di Filistei e mentre entrerai in città, incontrerai un gruppo di profeti che scenderanno dall'altura preceduti da arpe, timpani, flauti e cetre, in atto di fare i profeti.
After that, shalt thou come unto the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines, —and it shall be, as thou comest in thither into the city, thou shalt light upon a band of prophets, coming down from the high place, and, before them, a harp, and a timbrel, and a flute, and a lyre, they having been moved to prophesy.
6 Lo spirito del Signore investirà anche te e ti metterai a fare il profeta insieme con loro e sarai trasformato in un altro uomo.
Then will come suddenly upon thee, the Spirit of Yahweh, and thou shalt be moved to prophesy with them, —and shalt be changed into another man.
7 Quando questi segni che ti riguardano saranno accaduti, farai come vorrai, perché Dio sarà con te.
And it shall be, when these signs shall come unto thee, then act thou for thyself, as thou shalt find occasion, for, God, is with thee.
8 Tu poi scenderai a Gàlgala precedendomi. Io scenderò in seguito presso di te per offrire olocausti e immolare sacrifici di comunione. Sette giorni aspetterai, finché io verrò a te e ti indicherò quello che dovrai fare».
And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal, for lo! I am coming down unto thee, to offer up ascending-offerings, to sacrifice peace-offerings, —seven days, shalt thou tarry, until I come unto thee, then will I let thee know what thou shalt do.
9 Ed ecco, quando quegli ebbe voltato le spalle per partire da Samuele, Dio gli mutò il cuore e tutti questi segni si verificarono il giorno stesso.
And so it was, that, when he turned away to depart from Samuel, God gave him another heart, —and all these signs came to pass that day.
10 I due arrivarono là a Gàbaa ed ecco, mentre una schiera di profeti avanzava di fronte a loro, lo spirito di Dio lo investì e si mise a fare il profeta in mezzo a loro.
And, when they came thither to the hill, lo! a band of prophets coming to meet him, —then came suddenly upon him, the Spirit of God, and he was moved to prophesy in their midst.
11 Allora quanti lo avevano conosciuto prima, vedendolo d'un tratto fare il profeta con i profeti, si dissero l'un l'altro fra la gente: «Che è accaduto al figlio di Kis? E' dunque anche Saul tra i profeti?».
And it came to pass, that, all who knew him aforetime, looked, and lo! with the prophets, he did prophesy. So the people said, one to another—What, now, hath befallen the son of Kish? Is, even Saul, among the prophets?
12 Uno del luogo disse: «E chi è il loro padre?». Per questo passò in proverbio l'espressione: «E' dunque anche Saul tra i profeti?».
Then responded one of that place, and said, But who is, their father? For this cause, it became a proverb, Is, even Saul, among the prophets?
13 Quando ebbe terminato di profetare andò sull'altura.
And, when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.
14 Lo zio di Saul chiese poi a lui e al suo servo: «Dove siete andati?». Rispose: «A cercare le asine e, vedendo che non c'erano, ci siamo recati da Samuele».
Then said Saul’s uncle unto him, and unto his young man—Whither have ye been? And he said, To seek the asses, and, when they were nowhere, to be seen, we came unto Samuel.
15 Lo zio di Saul soggiunse: «Suvvia, raccontami quello che vi ha detto Samuele».
And Saul’s uncle said, —Do tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel said to you.
16 Saul rispose allo zio: «Ci ha assicurato che le asine erano state ritrovate». Ma non gli riferì il discorso del regno, che gli aveva tenuto Samuele.
And Saul said unto his uncle, He, told, us that the asses were found, —but, as to the matter of the kingdom, he told him not what Samuel had said.
17 Samuele radunò il popolo davanti a Dio in Mizpa
Then Samuel called out the people, unto Yahweh, at Mizpah,
18 e disse a tutti gli Israeliti: «Dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: Io ho fatto uscire Israele dall'Egitto e l'ho liberato dalla mano degli Egiziani e dalla mano di tutti i regni che vi opprimevano.
and said unto the sons of Israel—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel: I myself, brought up Israel, out of Egypt, —and rescued you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all the kingdoms that distressed you.
19 Ma voi oggi avete ripudiato il vostro Dio, il quale solo vi salva da tutti i vostri mali e da tutte le angosce. E avete detto: No, costituisci un re sopra di noi! Ora presentatevi a Dio distinti per tribù e per famiglie».
Yet, ye, to-day, have rejected your God, who, himself, hath been giving you salvation from all your calamities and your distresses, and ye have said to him: A king, shalt thou set over us, —Now, therefore, present yourselves before Yahweh, by your tribes, and by your thousands.
20 Samuele fece accostare ogni tribù d'Israele e fu sorteggiata la tribù di Beniamino.
And, when Samuel had brought near all the tribes of Israel, then was taken the tribe of Benjamin.
21 Fece poi accostare la tribù di Beniamino distinta per famiglie e fu sorteggiata la famiglia di Matri. Fece allora venire la famiglia di Matri per singoli individui e fu sorteggiato Saul figlio di Kis. Si misero a cercarlo ma non si riuscì a trovarlo.
And, when he had brought near the tribe of Benjamin, by their families, then was taken the family of Matri, —and, when he had brought near the family of Matri, man by man, then was taken Saul the son of Kish; so they sought him, but he was not to be found.
22 Allora consultarono di nuovo il Signore: «E' venuto qui l'uomo o no?». Rispose il Signore: «Eccolo nascosto in mezzo ai bagagli».
Then asked they again of Yahweh, Hath there yet to come in hither a man? And Yahweh said, Lo! he, hath hid himself among the stores.
23 Corsero a prenderlo di là e fu presentato al popolo: egli sopravanzava dalla spalla in su tutto il popolo.
So they ran, and fetched him thence, and, when he presented himself in the midst of the people, then was he [seen to be] taller than any of the people, from his shoulders and upwards.
24 Samuele disse a tutta la folla: «Vedete dunque che l'ha proprio eletto il Signore, perché non c'è nessuno in tutto il popolo come lui». Tutto il popolo proruppe in un grido: «Viva il re!».
And Samuel said unto all the people—Have ye seen him whom Yahweh hath chosen, that there is none like him, among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said—Let the king live!
25 Samuele espose a tutto il popolo i diritti del regno e li scrisse in un libro che depositò davanti al Signore. Poi Samuele congedò tutto il popolo perché andasse ognuno a casa sua.
Then Samuel declared unto the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a scroll, and laid it up before Yahweh. And Samuel sent away all the people, every man to his own house.
26 Anche Saul tornò a casa in Gàbaa e con lui si accompagnarono uomini valenti ai quali Dio aveva toccato il cuore.
Yea, even Saul, went to his own house, at Gibeah, —and the valiant men whose heart God had moved went with him.
27 Ma altri, individui spregevoli, dissero: «Potrà forse salvarci costui?». Così lo disprezzarono e non vollero portargli alcun dono.
But, abandoned men, said—How can this one save us? So they treated him with contempt, and brought him no present, —but he was as one that was deaf.
