1 Il re Salomone estendeva il suo dominio su tutto Israele.

And so it came to pass, that, King Solomon, was king, over all Israel.

2 Questi furono i suoi dignitari: Azaria figlio di Zadòk fu sacerdote.

Now, these, were his chief officers of state, —Azariah son of Zadok, the priest;

3 Elicoref e Achia, figli di Sisa, scribi. Giòsafat, figlio di Achilùd, archivista.

Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha, scribes, —Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud, the recorder;

4 Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, capo dell'esercito. Zadòk e Ebiatàr, sacerdoti.

And Benaiah son of Jehoiada, over the army, —and Zadok and Abiathar priests;

5 Azaria, figlio di Natan, capo dei prefetti. Zabud, figlio di Natan, sacerdote, amico del re.

And Azariah son of Nathan, over the governors, —and Zabud son of Nathan, minister, king’s friend;

6 Achisar maggiordomo. Adoniram, figlio di Abda, sovrintendente ai lavori forzati.

And Ahishar, over the household, —and Adoniram son of Abda, over the tribute.

7 Salomone aveva dodici prefetti su tutto Israele; costoro provvedevano al re e alla sua famiglia; ognuno aveva l'incarico di procurare il necessario per un mese all'anno.

And, Solomon, had twelve governors over all Israel, who used to sustain the king and his household, —for a month in the year, was it appointed unto each one, to find sustenance.

8 Questi sono i loro nomi: ...figlio di Cur, sulle montagne di Efraim;

And, these, are their names, Ben-hur, in the hill country of Ephraim;

9 ...figlio di Deker, a Makaz, a Saalbìm, a Bet-Sèmes, ad Aialon fino a Bet-Canan;

Ben-deker, in Makaz and in Shaalbim and Beth-shemesh, —and Elon-beth-hanan;

10 ...figlio di Chesed, in Arubbot; a lui appartenevano Soco e tutto il paese di Chefer;

Ben-hesed, in Arubboth, —to him, pertaineth Socoh, and all the land of Hepher;

11 ...figlio di Abinadàb, aveva tutta la costa di Dor (sua moglie era Tafat, figlia di Salomone);

Ben-abinadab, all the height of Dor, —Taphath daughter of Solomon, had he to wife;

12 Baana, figlio di Achilùd, aveva Tàanach, Meghìddo, sino al di là di Iakmeam, e tutto Beisan che è sotto Izreèl, da Beisan fino ad Abel-Mecola che è verso Zartan;

Baana son of Ahilud, in Taanach, and Megiddo, —and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan, beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean as far as Abel-meholah, as far as over against Jokmeam;

13 ... figlio di Gheber, in Ramot di Gàlaad; a lui appartenevano i villaggi di Iair figlio di Manàsse in Gàlaad, il distretto di Argob in Basan, sessanta grandi città con mura e spranghe di bronzo;

Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead, —to him, belonged the towns of Jair, son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead, his, was the region of Argob which is in Bashan, sixty great cities, with walls and with bars of bronze;

14 Achinadàb, figlio di Iddo, a Macanàim;

Ahinadab son of Iddo, towards Mahanaim;

15 Achimaaz in Nèftali - anche costui aveva preso in moglie una figlia di Salomone, Bosmat -;

Ahimaaz, in Naphtali, —moreover, he, took Basemath daughter of Solomon, to wife;

16 Baana, figlio di Cusai, in Aser e in Zàbulon;

Banna son of Hushai, in Asher and in Aloth;

17 Giòsafat, figlio di Paruach, in Issacar;

Jehoshaphat son of Paruah, in Issachar;

18 Simei, figlio di Ela, in Beniamino;

Shimei son of Ela, in Benjamin;

19 Gheber, figlio di Uri, nel paese di Gad, gia terra di Sicon re degli Amorrei e di Og re di Basan. Inoltre c'era un prefetto nel territorio di Giuda.

Geber son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, —the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, being, the one governor, that was in the land.

20 Giuda e Israele erano numerosi come la sabbia del mare e mangiavano e bevevano allegramente.

Judah and Israel, were many, as the sand that is by the sea, for multitude, —eating and drinking, and rejoicing.

21 Salomone esercitava l'egemonia su tutti i regni, dal fiume alla regione dei Filistei e al confine con l'Egitto. Gli portavano tributi e servirono Salomone finché visse.

And, Solomon, became ruler over all the kingdoms, from the River [even unto] the land of the Philistines, and as far as the boundary of Egypt, —and these were bringing presents, and serving Solomon, all the days of his life.

22 I viveri di Salomone per un giorno erano trenta kor di fior di farina e sessanta kor di farina comune,

And it came to pass, that Solomon’s provision for one day was, —thirty measures of fine flour, and sixty measures of meal;

23 dieci buoi grassi, venti buoi da pascolo e cento pecore, senza contare i cervi, le gazzelle, le antilopi e i volatili da stia.

ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, —besides harts, and gazelles, and roebucks, and fatted fowl.

24 Egli, infatti, dominava su tutto l'Oltrefiume, da Tipsach a Gaza su tutti i re dell'Oltrefiume, ed era in pace con tutti i confinanti all'intorno.

For, he, had dominion over all on this side the River, from Tiphsah even as far as Gaza, over all the kings on this side the River, —and he had, peace, on all sides of him, round about.

25 Giuda e Israele erano al sicuro; ognuno stava sotto la propria vite e sotto il proprio fico - da Dan fino a Bersabea - per tutta la vita di Salomone.

And Judah and Israel dwelt securely, every man under his own vine, and under his own fig-tree, from Dan even unto Beer-sheba, —all the days of Solomon.

26 Salomone possedeva quattromila greppie per i cavalli dei suoi carri e dodicimila cavalli da sella.

And it came to pass that, Solomon, had forty thousand stalls of horses, for his chariots, —and twelve thousand horsemen.

27 Quei prefetti, ognuno per il suo mese, provvedevano quanto serviva al re Salomone e a quelli che erano ammessi alla sua tavola; non facevano mancare nulla.

And these governors provided sustenance for King Solomon, and for all that drew near unto the table of King Solomon, every man in his month, —they let, nought, be lacking.

28 Portavano l'orzo e la paglia per i cavalli da tiro e da sella nel luogo ove si trovava ognuno secondo la propria mansione.

Barley also and crushed straw, for the horses and for the swift beasts, brought they in unto the place where it should be, every man according to his charge.

29 Dio concesse a Salomone saggezza e intelligenza molto grandi e una mente vasta come la sabbia che è sulla spiaggia del mare.

And God gave wisdom unto Solomon, and discernment, and very great largeness of heart, —like the sand that is on the shore of the sea:

30 La saggezza di Salomone superò la saggezza di tutti gli orientali e tutta la saggezza dell'Egitto.

so that, the wisdom of Solomon, excelled, the wisdom of all the sons of the East, —and all the wisdom of the Egyptians,

31 Egli fu veramente più saggio di tutti, più di Etan l'Ezrachita, di Eman, di Calcol e di Darda, figli di Macol; il suo nome divenne noto fra tutti i popoli limitrofi.

so that he was wiser than any man—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman and Calcol and Darda, sons of Mahol, —and it came to pass that, his name, was throughout all the nations round about.

32 Salomone pronunziò tremila proverbi; le sue poesie furono millecinque.

And he spake three thousand proverbs, —and it came to pass that, his songs, were a thousand and five.

33 Parlò di piante, dal cedro del Libano all'issòpo che sbuca dal muro; parlò di quadrupedi, di uccelli, di rettili e di pesci.

And he discoursed of trees—from the cedar that is in Lebanon, even unto the hyssop, that springeth out in the wall, —and he discoursed of beasts and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

34 Da tutte le nazioni venivano per ascoltare la saggezza di Salomone; venivano anche i re dei paesi ove si era sparsa la fama della sua saggezza.

And there came in, of all the peoples, to hear the wisdom of Solomon—of all the kings of the earth, who heard his wisdom.
