1 I mahiku ayo u Yohana Mbatizaji auzile akazetanantya ulukani mumbuga ang'wa Yuda akazelunga,
In those days, John [Yah is gracious] the Immerser came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea [Praise], saying,
2 Leki imilandu kunsoko utemi wa kigulu ukole pakupe.”
“Teshuvah ·Turn repent·, for the Kingdom of Heaven (God) is at hand!”
3 Kunsoko yuyu nauligitigwe numunyakidagu u Isaya ikalunga, “Luli la muntu nukitanga mumbuga, leki uza inzila ya Mkulu, gooli kisa imapanda akwe.”
For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of MarYah [Master Yahweh]. Make his paths straight.”
4 U Yohana autugae mauli angamia hangi akitunga numusipi wa ndili mkileno kakwe indya yakwe ai ngaga nu uki wa mihaka.
Now John [Yah is gracious] himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
5 Hangi Yerusalemu, Yuda ihi, nikisali kihi nikepilimiye umongo wa Yorodani ikalongola kitalakwe.
Then people from Jerusalem [City of peace], all of Judea [Praise], and all the region around the Jordan [Descender] went out to him.
6 Aizabadisigwa mumongo wa Yorodani nukila itunu imilandu ao.
They were baptized by him in the Jordan [Descender], confessing their sins.
7 Sunga akatyatwa unuduu wa mafarisayo ni masadukayo kuza kubadisigwa, akaeela, unye wileli wa nzoka nikete sumu nyenyu numuhuguye kuutiga uubi nupembilye?
But when he saw many of the Pharisees [Separated] and Sadducees [Morally-upright] coming for his baptism, he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Tugi imaintu nahegekile mumilandu, namuloeye Itunda.
Therefore produce fruit worthy of teshuvah ·complete repentance·!
9 Leki kusige nukikolya kung'wanyu kutite u Ibrahimu anga tata witu, inge kumuila Itunda uhumile kumuukilya u Ibrahimu iana kupumila mumagwe aya.
Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham [Father of a multitude] Avinu ·our Father·,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham [Father of a multitude] from these stones.
10 Ihengo aikwa mumuli wa muti, kulule umuti nishawipeza indya ninza witeng'wa nukugung'wa mumoto.
“Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 Kumubadiza kunzila amazi, nukumuhugilya muhueli. Kululo uyu nupembilye ukete ingulu kukila unene, hangi kuleng'wa lukulu kukenka ilatu yakwe. Nuanso ukuabadisa kukeela ng'waung'welu nu moto.
I indeed baptize you in water for teshuvah ·complete repentance·, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in Ruach haKodesh [Spirit of the Holiness].
12 Ipetelo nilakupelela ingano likole mumikono akwe, kilingila iyo ninza misalanka. Kululo gwa iyo nikite ipuko ikusonswa umoto uo nishawilima.
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”
13 Sunga u Yesu akaza kupembelya kugalilaya akapika mumongo wa Yorodani akabadisigwa nu Yohana.
Then Yeshua [Salvation] came from Galilee [District, Circuit] to the Jordan [Descender] to John [Yah is gracious], to be baptized by him.
14 Yohana akahia amugilye akalunga, unene ntakile mbadisigwe nuewe, nikawaza kitalane?
But John [Yah is gracious] would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”
15 U Yesu akasusha akalunga, “Gomba itule uu itungile. Kunsoko yatula kukondanilye itai ehi.” Sunga u Yohana akamugombya.
But Yeshua [Salvation], answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.
16 Naiwamala kubadisigwa, u Yesu akapuma mumazi, Ilunde likaluguka kitalakwe. Akamuona ng'waung'welu wang'wi Tunda akazesima anga inkunda nukukilaja migulya akwe.
Yeshua [Salvation], when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw haRuach [the Spirit] of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
17 Goza, luli ailupumie kilunde lukalunga, “Uyu ng'waane mlowa. ni ndoeigwe nangulu nung'wenso.”
Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my agapetos ·beloved, esteemed· Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
