Amsal 3

1 Hai anakku, janganlah engkau melupakan ajaranku, dan biarlah hatimu memelihara perintahku,

My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.

2 karena panjang umur dan lanjut usia serta sejahtera akan ditambahkannya kepadamu.

For they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.

3 Janganlah kiranya kasih dan setia meninggalkan engkau! Kalungkanlah itu pada lehermu, tuliskanlah itu pada loh hatimu,

Let not mercie and trueth forsake thee: binde them on thy necke, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.

4 maka engkau akan mendapat kasih dan penghargaan dalam pandangan Allah serta manusia.

So shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.

5 Percayalah kepada TUHAN dengan segenap hatimu, dan janganlah bersandar kepada pengertianmu sendiri.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.

6 Akuilah Dia dalam segala lakumu, maka Ia akan meluruskan jalanmu.

In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.

7 Janganlah engkau menganggap dirimu sendiri bijak, takutlah akan TUHAN dan jauhilah kejahatan;

Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.

8 itulah yang akan menyembuhkan tubuhmu dan menyegarkan tulang-tulangmu.

So health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.

9 Muliakanlah TUHAN dengan hartamu dan dengan hasil pertama dari segala penghasilanmu,

Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.

10 maka lumbung-lumbungmu akan diisi penuh sampai melimpah-limpah, dan bejana pemerahanmu akan meluap dengan air buah anggurnya.

So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.

11 Hai anakku, janganlah engkau menolak didikan TUHAN, dan janganlah engkau bosan akan peringatan-Nya.

My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.

12 Karena TUHAN memberi ajaran kepada yang dikasihi-Nya, seperti seorang ayah kepada anak yang disayangi.

For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.

13 Berbahagialah orang yang mendapat hikmat, orang yang memperoleh kepandaian,

Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.

14 karena keuntungannya melebihi keuntungan perak, dan hasilnya melebihi emas.

For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.

15 Ia lebih berharga dari pada permata; apapun yang kauinginkan, tidak dapat menyamainya.

It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.

16 Umur panjang ada di tangan kanannya, di tangan kirinya kekayaan dan kehormatan.

Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.

17 Jalannya adalah jalan penuh bahagia, segala jalannya sejahtera semata-mata.

Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.

18 Ia menjadi pohon kehidupan bagi orang yang memegangnya, siapa yang berpegang padanya akan disebut berbahagia.

She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.

19 Dengan hikmat TUHAN telah meletakkan dasar bumi, dengan pengertian ditetapkan-Nya langit,

The Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.

20 dengan pengetahuan-Nya air samudera raya berpencaran dan awan menitikkan embun.

By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.

21 Hai anakku, janganlah pertimbangan dan kebijaksanaan itu menjauh dari matamu, peliharalah itu,

My sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.

22 maka itu akan menjadi kehidupan bagi jiwamu, dan perhiasan bagi lehermu.

So they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.

23 Maka engkau akan berjalan di jalanmu dengan aman, dan kakimu tidak akan terantuk.

Then shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.

24 Jikalau engkau berbaring, engkau tidak akan terkejut, tetapi engkau akan berbaring dan tidur nyenyak.

If thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.

25 Janganlah takut kepada kekejutan yang tiba-tiba, atau kepada kebinasaan orang fasik, bila itu datang.

Thou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.

26 Karena Tuhanlah yang akan menjadi sandaranmu, dan akan menghindarkan kakimu dari jerat.

For the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.

27 Janganlah menahan kebaikan dari pada orang-orang yang berhak menerimanya, padahal engkau mampu melakukannya.

Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.

28 Janganlah engkau berkata kepada sesamamu: "Pergilah dan kembalilah, besok akan kuberi," sedangkan yang diminta ada padamu.

Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.

29 Janganlah merencanakan kejahatan terhadap sesamamu, sedangkan tanpa curiga ia tinggal bersama-sama dengan engkau.

Intend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.

30 Janganlah bertengkar tidak semena-mena dengan seseorang, jikalau ia tidak berbuat jahat kepadamu.

Striue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.

31 Janganlah iri hati kepada orang yang melakukan kelaliman, dan janganlah memilih satupun dari jalannya,

Bee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.

32 karena orang yang sesat adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi dengan orang jujur Ia bergaul erat.

For the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.

33 Kutuk TUHAN ada di dalam rumah orang fasik, tetapi tempat kediaman orang benar diberkati-Nya.

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.

34 Apabila Ia menghadapi pencemooh, maka Iapun mencemooh, tetapi orang yang rendah hati dikasihani-Nya.

With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.

35 Orang yang bijak akan mewarisi kehormatan, tetapi orang yang bebal akan menerima cemooh.

The wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
