Amsal 12
1 Siapa mencintai didikan, mencintai pengetahuan; tetapi siapa membenci teguran, adalah dungu.
He who loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he who hateth rebuke remaineth stupid.
2 Orang baik dikenan TUHAN, tetapi si penipu dihukum-Nya.
The good man obtaineth favor from the LORD; But the man of wicked devices he condemneth.
3 Orang tidak akan tetap tegak karena kefasikan, tetapi akar orang benar tidak akan goncang.
A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 Isteri yang cakap adalah mahkota suaminya, tetapi yang membuat malu adalah seperti penyakit yang membusukkan tulang suaminya.
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; But she who causeth shame is as rottenness in his bones.
5 Rancangan orang benar adalah adil, tujuan orang fasik memperdaya.
The purposes of the righteous are just; The designs of the wicked are deceitful.
6 Perkataan orang fasik menghadang darah, tetapi mulut orang jujur menyelamatkan orang.
The words of the wicked lie in wait for men's blood; But the mouth of the upright delivereth them.
7 Orang fasik dijatuhkan sehingga mereka tidak ada lagi, tetapi rumah orang benar berdiri tetap.
The wicked are overthrown, and are no more; But the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 Setiap orang dipuji seimbang dengan akal budinya, tetapi orang yang serong hatinya, akan dihina.
A man will be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9 Lebih baik menjadi orang kecil, tetapi bekerja untuk diri sendiri, dari pada berlagak orang besar, tetapi kekurangan makan.
Better is he that demeaneth himself, and hath a servant, Than he that exalteth himself, and hath no bread.
10 Orang benar memperhatikan hidup hewannya, tetapi belas kasihan orang fasik itu kejam.
The righteous man careth for the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 Siapa mengerjakan tanahnya, akan kenyang dengan makanan, tetapi siapa mengejar barang yang sia-sia, tidak berakal budi.
He who tilleth his own land shall be satisfied with bread; But he who followeth worthless persons is void of understanding.
12 Orang fasik mengingini jala orang jahat, tetapi akar orang benar mendatangkan hasil.
The wicked man longeth after the prey of evil-doers; But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 Orang jahat terjerat oleh pelanggaran bibirnya, tetapi orang benar dapat keluar dari kesukaran.
In the transgression of the lips is a dangerous snare; But the righteous man shall escape from trouble.
14 Setiap orang dikenyangkan dengan kebaikan oleh karena buah perkataan, dan orang mendapat balasan dari pada yang dikerjakan tangannya.
By the fruit of a man's mouth he shall be filled with good, And the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 Jalan orang bodoh lurus dalam anggapannya sendiri, tetapi siapa mendengarkan nasihat, ia bijak.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that hearkeneth to counsel is wise.
16 Bodohlah yang menyatakan sakit hatinya seketika itu juga, tetapi bijak, yang mengabaikan cemooh.
A fool's wrath is instantly known; But he that hideth insult is wise.
17 Siapa mengatakan kebenaran, menyatakan apa yang adil, tetapi saksi dusta menyatakan tipu daya.
He that speaketh truth testifieth what is right; But a false witness, deceit.
18 Ada orang yang lancang mulutnya seperti tikaman pedang, tetapi lidah orang bijak mendatangkan kesembuhan.
There is who babbleth like the piercing of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
19 Bibir yang mengatakan kebenaran tetap untuk selama-lamanya, tetapi lidah dusta hanya untuk sekejap mata.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But the tongue of falsehood, but for a moment.
20 Tipu daya ada di dalam hati orang yang merencanakan kejahatan, tetapi orang yang menasihatkan kesejahteraan mendapat sukacita.
Deceit is in the heart of those who contrive evil; But to the counsellors of peace shall be joy.
21 Orang benar tidak akan ditimpa oleh bencana apapun, tetapi orang fasik akan senantiasa celaka.
No evil shall happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with calamity.
22 Orang yang dusta bibirnya adalah kekejian bagi TUHAN, tetapi orang yang berlaku setia dikenan-Nya.
False lips are the abomination of the LORD; But they who deal truly are his delight.
23 Orang yang bijak menyembunyikan pengetahuannya, tetapi hati orang bebal menyeru-nyerukan kebodohan.
A prudent man concealeth his knowledge; Bur the heart of fools proclaimeth their foolishness.
24 Tangan orang rajin memegang kekuasaan, tetapi kemalasan mengakibatkan kerja paksa.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be under tribute.
25 Kekuatiran dalam hati membungkukkan orang, tetapi perkataan yang baik menggembirakan dia.
Anxiety in the heart of a man boweth it down; But a kind word maketh it glad.
26 Orang benar mendapati tempat penggembalaannya, tetapi jalan orang fasik menyesatkan mereka sendiri.
The righteous showeth the way to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
27 Orang malas tidak akan menangkap buruannya, tetapi orang rajin akan memperoleh harta yang berharga.
The slothful man shall not roast his game; But a precious treasure to any man is he that is diligent.
28 Di jalan kebenaran terdapat hidup, tetapi jalan kemurtadan menuju maut.
In the path of righteousness is life, And in her pathway there is no death.
