Yosua 1

1 Sesudah Musa hamba TUHAN itu mati, berfirmanlah TUHAN kepada Yosua bin Nun, abdi Musa itu, demikian:

Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Josue the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, and said to him:

2 "Hamba-Ku Musa telah mati; sebab itu bersiaplah sekarang, seberangilah sungai Yordan ini, engkau dan seluruh bangsa ini, menuju negeri yang akan Kuberikan kepada mereka, kepada orang Israel itu.

Moses my servant is dead: arise, and pass over this Jordan, thou and thy people with thee, into the land which I will give to the children of Israel.

3 Setiap tempat yang akan diinjak oleh telapak kakimu Kuberikan kepada kamu, seperti yang telah Kujanjikan kepada Musa.

I will deliver to you every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, as I have said to Moses.

4 Dari padang gurun dan gunung Libanon yang sebelah sana itu sampai ke sungai besar, yakni sungai Efrat, seluruh tanah orang Het, sampai ke Laut Besar di sebelah matahari terbenam, semuanya itu akan menjadi daerahmu.

From the desert and from Libanus unto the great river Euphrates, all the land of the Hethites unto the great sea toward the going; down of the sun, shall be your border.

5 Seorangpun tidak akan dapat bertahan menghadapi engkau seumur hidupmu; seperti Aku menyertai Musa, demikianlah Aku akan menyertai engkau; Aku tidak akan membiarkan engkau dan tidak akan meninggalkan engkau.

No man shall be able to resist you all the days of thy life: as I have been with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Kuatkan dan teguhkanlah hatimu, sebab engkaulah yang akan memimpin bangsa ini memiliki negeri yang Kujanjikan dengan bersumpah kepada nenek moyang mereka untuk diberikan kepada mereka.

Take courage, and be strong: for thou shalt divide by lot to this people the land, for which I swore to their fathers, that I would deliver it to them.

7 Hanya, kuatkan dan teguhkanlah hatimu dengan sungguh-sungguh, bertindaklah hati-hati sesuai dengan seluruh hukum yang telah diperintahkan kepadamu oleh hamba-Ku Musa; janganlah menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri, supaya engkau beruntung, ke manapun engkau pergi.

Take courage therefore, and be very valiant: that thou mayst observe and do all the law, which Moses my servant hath commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayst understand all things which thou dost.

8 Janganlah engkau lupa memperkatakan kitab Taurat ini, tetapi renungkanlah itu siang dan malam, supaya engkau bertindak hati-hati sesuai dengan segala yang tertulis di dalamnya, sebab dengan demikian perjalananmu akan berhasil dan engkau akan beruntung.

Let not the book of this law depart from thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate on it day and night, that thou mayst observe and do all things that are written in it: then shalt thou direct thy way, and understand it.

9 Bukankah telah Kuperintahkan kepadamu: kuatkan dan teguhkanlah hatimu? Janganlah kecut dan tawar hati, sebab TUHAN, Allahmu, menyertai engkau, ke manapun engkau pergi."

Behold I command thee, take courage, and be strong. Fear not and be not dismayed: because the Lord thy God is with thee in all things whatsoever thou shalt go to.

10 Lalu Yosua memberi perintah kepada pengatur-pengatur pasukan bangsa itu, katanya:

And Josue commanded the princes of the people, saying: Pass through the midst of the camp, and command the people, and say:

11 "Jalanilah seluruh perkemahan dan perintahkanlah kepada bangsa itu, demikian: Sediakanlah bekalmu, sebab dalam tiga hari kamu akan menyeberangi sungai Yordan ini untuk pergi menduduki negeri yang akan diberikan TUHAN, Allahmu, kepadamu untuk diduduki."

Prepare you victuals: for after the third day you shall pass over the Jordan and shall go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God will give you.

12 Kepada orang Ruben, kepada orang Gad dan kepada suku Manasye yang setengah itu berkatalah Yosua, demikian:

And he said to the Rubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasses:

13 "Ingatlah kepada perkataan yang dipesankan Musa, hamba TUHAN itu, kepadamu, yakni: TUHAN, Allahmu, mengaruniakan keamanan kepadamu dan memberikan kepadamu negeri ini;

Remember the word, which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying: The Lord your God hath given you rest, and all this land.

14 perempuan-perempuan dan anak-anak di antara kamu dan ternakmu boleh tinggal di negeri yang diberikan Musa kepadamu di seberang sungai Yordan, tetapi kamu, semua pahlawan yang gagah perkasa, haruslah menyeberang di depan saudara-saudaramu dengan bersenjata, dan haruslah menolong mereka,

Your wives, and children, and cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan: but pass you over armed before your brethren, all of you that are strong of hand, and fight for them,

15 sampai TUHAN mengaruniakan keamanan kepada saudara-saudaramu seperti kepada kamu juga, dan mereka juga menduduki negeri yang akan diberikan kepada mereka oleh TUHAN, Allahmu. Kemudian bolehlah kamu pulang kembali ke negerimu sendiri dan menduduki negeri yang diberikan Musa, hamba TUHAN itu, kepadamu di seberang sungai Yordan, di sebelah matahari terbit."

Until the Lord give rest to your brethren as he hath given you, and they also possess the land which the Lord your God will give them: and so you shall return into the land of your possession, and you shall dwell in it, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you beyond the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun.

16 Lalu mereka menjawab Yosua, katanya: "Segala yang kauperintahkan kepada kami akan kami lakukan dan ke manapun kami akan kausuruh, kami akan pergi;

And they made answer to Josue, and said: All that thou hast commanded us we will do; and whithersoever thou shalt send us, we will go.

17 sama seperti kami mendengarkan perintah Musa, demikianlah kami akan mendengarkan perintahmu. Hanya, TUHAN, Allahmu, kiranya menyertai engkau, seperti Ia menyertai Musa.

As we obeyed Moses in all things, so will we obey thee also: only be the Lord thy God with thee, as he was with Moses.

18 Setiap orang yang menentang perintahmu dan tidak mendengarkan perkataanmu, apapun yang kauperintahkan kepadanya, dia akan dihukum mati. Hanya, kuatkan dan teguhkanlah hatimu!"

He that shall gainsay thy mouth, and not obey all thy words, that thou shalt command him, let him die: only take thou courage, and do manfully.
