Yesaya 17
1 Ucapan ilahi terhadap Damsyik. Sesungguhnya, Damsyik tidak akan tetap sebagai kota, nanti menjadi suatu timbunan reruntuhan;
The burden of Damascus [Bucket of blood]: “Behold, Damascus [Bucket of blood] is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.
2 kampung-kampungnya akan ditinggalkan selama-lamanya dan menjadi tempat bagi kawanan-kawanan ternak, yang berbaring dengan tidak diganggu oleh siapapun.
The cities of Aroer are forsaken. They will be for flocks, which shall lie down, and no one shall make them afraid.
3 Kubu-kubu akan hilang dari Efraim dan kuasa kerajaan akan lenyap dari Damsyik, juga sisa-sisa Aram, semuanya akan lenyap sama seperti kemuliaan orang Israel, demikianlah firman TUHAN semesta alam.
The fortress shall cease from Ephraim [Fruit], and the kingdom from Damascus [Bucket of blood], and the remnant of Syria [Elevated]. They will be as the glory of the children of Israel [God prevails],” says Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies].
4 Maka pada waktu itu kemuliaan Yakub akan berkurang, dan kemakmurannya akan susut;
“It will happen in that day that the glory of Jacob [Supplanter] will be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
5 keadaannya seperti gandum yang digenggam orang untuk dituai dan tangannya memetik bulir-bulir; atau seperti bulir-bulir yang dipungut orang di lembah orang Refaim.
It will be like when the harvester gathers the wheat, and his arm reaps the grain. Yes, it will be like when one gleans grain in the valley of Rephaim [Descendants of Terrible one].
6 Dari padanya akan tertinggal sisa untuk pemetikan susulan seperti pada waktu orang menjolok buah zaitun, tertinggal satu dua di sebelah pucuknya dan beberapa di dahan-dahannya, demikianlah firman TUHAN, Allah Israel.
Yet gleanings will be left there, like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outermost branches of a fruitful tree,” says Yahweh, Elohim Isra'el [He sustains breathing, God of God prevails].
7 Pada waktu itu manusia akan memandang kepada Dia yang menjadikannya, dan matanya akan melihat kepada Yang Mahakudus, Allah Israel;
In that day, people will look to their Maker, and their eyes will have respect for the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails].
8 ia tidak akan memandang kepada mezbah-mezbah buatan tangannya sendiri, dan tidak akan melihat kepada yang dikerjakan oleh tangannya, yakni tiang-tiang berhala dan pedupaan-pedupaan.
They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands; neither shall they respect that which their fingers have made, either the Asherah poles, or the incense altars.
9 Pada waktu itu kota-kotamu akan ditinggalkan seperti kota-kota orang Hewi dan orang Amori yang mereka tinggalkan karena orang Israel, sehingga menjadi sunyi sepi.
In that day, their strong cities will be like the forsaken places in the woods and on the mountain top, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel [God prevails]; and it will be a desolation.
10 Sebab engkau telah melupakan Allah yang menyelamatkan engkau, dan tidak mengingat gunung batu kekuatanmu. Sebab itu sekalipun engkau membuat taman yang permai dan menanaminya dengan cangkokan luar negeri,
For you have forgotten the God of your yesha' ·salvation·, and have not remembered the rock of your strength. Therefore you plant pleasant plants, and set out foreign seedlings.
11 sekalipun pada hari menanamnya engkau membuatnya tumbuh subur, dan pada pagi mencangkokkannya engkau membuatnya berbunga, namun panen akan segera lenyap pada hari kesakitan dan hari penderitaan yang sangat payah.
In the day of your planting, you hedge it in. In the morning, you make your seed blossom, but the harvest flees away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12 Wahai! Ributnya banyak bangsa-bangsa, mereka ribut seperti ombak laut menderu! Gaduhnya suku-suku bangsa, mereka gaduh seperti gaduhnya air yang hebat!
Ah, the uproar of many peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 Suku-suku bangsa gaduh seperti gaduhnya air yang besar; tetapi TUHAN menghardiknya, sehingga mereka lari jauh-jauh, terburu-buru seperti sekam di tempat penumbukan dihembus angin, dan seperti dedak ditiup puting beliung.
The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
14 Menjelang waktu senja, sesungguhnya ada kedahsyatan! Sebelum hari pagi, mereka sudah tidak ada lagi! Itulah bagian orang-orang yang merampoki kita, dan itulah yang ditentukan bagi orang-orang yang merampasi kita.
At evening, behold, terror! Before the morning, they are no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us.
