Hosea 12
1 Efraim menjaga angin, dan mengejar angin timur sehari suntuk, memperbanyak dusta dan pemusnahan; mereka mengadakan perjanjian dengan Asyur, dan membawa minyak kepada Mesir.
But Ephraim is an evil spirit, he has chased the east wind all the day: he has multiplied empty and vain things, and made a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil has gone in the way of traffic into Egypt.
2 TUHAN mempunyai perbantahan dengan Yehuda, Ia akan menghukum Yakub sesuai dengan tingkah lakunya, dan akan memberi balasan kepadanya sesuai dengan perbuatan-perbuatannya.
And the Lord [has] a controversy with Juda, in order to punish Jacob: according to his ways and according to his practices will he recompense him.
3 Di dalam kandungan ia menipu saudaranya, dan dalam kegagahannya ia bergumul dengan Allah.
He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his labours he had power with God.
4 Ia bergumul dengan Malaikat dan menang; ia menangis dan memohon belas kasihan kepada-Nya. Di Betel ia bertemu dengan Dia, dan di sanalah Dia berfirman kepadanya:
And he prevailed with the angel and was strong: they wept, and entreated me: they found me in the house of On, and there [a word] was spoken to them.
5 --yakni TUHAN, Allah semesta alam, TUHAN nama-Nya--
But the Lord God Almighty shall be his memorial.
6 "Engkau ini harus berbalik kepada Allahmu, peliharalah kasih setia dan hukum, dan nantikanlah Allahmu senantiasa."
You therefore shall return to your God: keep you mercy and judgement, and draw near to your God continually.
7 Sama seperti Kanaan, dengan neraca palsu di tangannya, dan suka memeras,
[As for] Chanaan, in his hand is a balance of unrighteousness: he has loved to tyrannize.
8 berkatalah Efraim: "Bukankah aku telah menjadi kaya, telah mendapat harta benda bagiku! Tetapi segala hasil jerih payahku tidak mendatangkan kesalahan yang merupakan dosa bagiku."
And Ephraim said, Nevertheless I am rich, I have found refreshment to myself. None of his labours shall be found [available] to him, by reason of the sins which he has committed.
9 Tetapi Aku adalah TUHAN, Allahmu sejak di tanah Mesir; Aku masih mau membuat engkau diam kembali di kemah-kemah seperti di hari-hari pertemuan raya.
But I the Lord your God brought you up out of the land of Egypt: I will yet cause you to dwell in tabernacles, according to the days of the feast.
10 Aku berbicara kepada para nabi dan banyak kali memberi penglihatan dan memberi perumpamaan dengan perantaraan para nabi.
And I will speak to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and by the means of the prophets I was represented.
11 Bila di Gilead ada kejahatan, maka mereka menjadi kesia-siaan belaka; di Gilgal mereka mempersembahkan lembu-lembu jantan, maka mezbah-mezbah mereka juga menjadi seperti timbunan batu di alur-alur ladang.
If Galaad exists not, then the chiefs in Galaad when they sacrificed were false, and their altars were as heaps on the ground of the field.
12 Yakub melarikan diri ke tanah Aram, dan Israel memperhambakan diri untuk mendapat isteri, ya, untuk mendapat isteri ia menjadi gembala.
And Jacob retreated into the plain of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and waited for a wife.
13 Israel dituntun oleh TUHAN keluar dari Mesir dengan perantaraan seorang nabi, ya, ia dijaga oleh seorang nabi.
And the Lord brought Israel out of the land of Egypt by a prophet, and by a prophet was he preserve.
14 Efraim telah menimbulkan sakit hati-Nya secara pahit, maka Tuhannya akan membiarkan hutang darahnya menimpa dia, dan akan membalas celanya kepadanya.
Ephraim was angry and excited, therefore his blood shall be poured out upon him, and the Lord shall recompense to him his reproach.
